Pronger at it again: elbow to McAmmond's head
UKWING replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
hatcher was suspended for 3 games after his elbow to the head of lombardi in game 6 of the 2004 playoff series between the wings and flames. pronger definitely deserves a suspension too IMO. but i do not agree with people who are calling the ducks a bunch of goons. pronger aside, they are not that dirty and if it weren't for him then i would be rooting for the ducks. i really love the way they play - they are a big, tough and aggressive team who are great to watch. -
ANA/OTT - Ducks in 7
-
great spirit shown by the wings in the 3rd there and they nearly forced OT. i am so proud of the team - they played great this season and had 3 tough series in a row. i am biased but i thought the wings were the better team for most of this series. it could have been so different if: - the ducks hadn't scored that flukey GTG in game 2. - the wings had scored on that long 5 on 3 in the 3rd period of game 4. - neidermayer's shot didn't hit lidstrom's stick in game 5. but what ifs are pretty pointless now. congratulations to the ducks - they are a great team and i think they will win it all.
-
the wings have played like a beaten team from the get-go tonight. it has been a great post-season but it is disappointing to see them going down without a fight. they have to come out hard to start the 3rd and if they can get an early goal then you never know what might happen. lets go red wings!!!! i still believe (just).
-
does the pessimism surprise you? according to many people the wings have already been "done" 3 or 4 times this post-season.
-
i hate attitudes like this. you are giving up on the team so that you won't be as disappointed if they lose. i don't believe that a true fan should ever give up on their team.
-
that was a devastating loss. i don't think i have ever felt this low after a loss before. but this is far from over - the wings have shown great resilience througout this post-season and i believe they will do it again. the wings are the better team and they will prove it. and it really pisses me off to read people bashing lilja. yes he f*cked up. but he has been outstanding in the playoffs so far and is a major reason that the wings have gotten this far. if i am not mistaken he leads the team in hits and blocked shots so lay off him. furthermore, if franzen or chelios had cleared the zone in regulation when they had the chance this would not have even gone to OT. we are gonna have to do it the hard way - but we will do it. bring on game 6!!
-
that too many men penalty could turn out to be a key point in this series. the wings were dominating at that time but that careless penalty gave them life. the wings are not out of this yet though - i feel that the ducks will need to score again to win this game.
-
this is a huge game. if we can take it then we have 1 foot in the cup finals with the ducks having to win 3 straight, including 2 at the joe. i just can't see them doing that. however, if the ducks win tonight without their best player then it will give them a massive confidence boost and could swing momentum their way. having said that: wings 5 (lidstrom, datsyuk, zetterberg 2, cleary) ducks 2 LETS GO RED WINGS!!!!!
-
no kidding - didn't a load of fans at the joe start booing when the preds game was abandoned after fischer went down? i wouldn't criticize the ducks fans too much for cheering the hit at the time - no way they could tell the severity of it right away. but pronger HAS to get suspended. everyone could see he had lost his head and was going to do something stupid. he is a classless, nasty piece of sh*t who needs to be taught a lesson.
-
well i picked the sharks in the last round so i have to stick with what is working and go for the ducks this time DET/ANA - Anaheim in 6 BUF/OTT - Ottawa in 7
-
that is why hockey is the most exciting sport in the world - not too good for my ticker though
-
it's a real shame for calder - he played great when he first joined and i thought he would be a key player for us in the playoffs but he is clearly struggling with his hand. might as well give rex a chance and hopefully if we advance calder might still be able to play a part.
-
thank f*ck for that! homer was awesome last night - we have missed him big time.
-
huge game tonight - if we lose then it is all over as i cannot see us winning 3 straight against this san jose team. hopefully homer will get nabby off his game. wings 4 (homer, lang, shneider, flip) sharks 2 LETS GO RED WINGS!!!
-
why start a thread like this? i admit that after the 1st 5 minutes i could not see the wings winning this game but i would never give up on the series after 2 games. this is playoff hockey - winning the cup is not easy and there will always be a few bumps in the road. have some faith and support the team!!
-
just read the "recap" on nhl.com and dan cleary said, "Zetterberg and Datsyuk won us the game." he is a modest MF!!! cleary has been by far and away our best forward in the playoffs this year.
-
holy crap!!! just finished watching the game (it wasn't on live over here ) and i must confess i could not see the wings coming back after that 1st 5 minutes. i think i woke up every person in north london when pavel scored!!! lets just hope the wings start the next game better than they have the last 2
-
very disappointing game last night. the 1st period was pretty open with chances at both ends - unfortunately san jose took their chances and we didn't. san jose then sat back for the 2nd and 3rd periods and their defensive coverage was outstanding - the wings never really looked like getting back into the game. however, it is not all doom and gloom - as good as san jose were defensively there is no way the wings will be that bad offensively again. furthermore the sharks' forwards did not cause as many problems as i was expecting. it is pretty obvious that the wings need a good start tomorrow - the 1st goal will be crucial.

Pre-GAME 1 (4/26): Sharks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET
UKWING replied to Hatchet Barry's topic in General
can't wait for this game. unfortunately it is not being shown live over here - it is on 'as-live' at 3am so i will have to steer clear of this site tonight so that i don't find out the score. going to be a tough one tonight, esp. with our injuries. i think i would be fairly content if we could split these games at the Joe as long as we are healthy heading to san jose. -
yeah - it's ledley king. the best defender in the world! just a shame that he is as injury prone as teemu tainio!!
-
missed the 1st round but here goes: DET/SJ - San Jose in 6 ANA/VAN - Anaheim in 5 BUFF/NYR - Buffalo in 5 NJD/OTT - Ottawa in 6
-
nice one - cheers matt

this is another reason why i wanted to play the stars! games 3, 4 and 6 against the flames didn't end til 6am. i have been falling asleep in the middle of the day far too often over the last week.
-
as much as i hate nashville i was kinda hoping they would beat you guys at the start of that series - simply because i would rather play them in the 2nd round. but after seeing the sh*t they tried in the first few games i was glad to see the sharks dump them out. i can't wait for this series - should be a great one!
