As if we need another reason to want to crush San Jose
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to Antilles328's topic in General
I bet his comeback will be even less of an on ice impact than McCarty. He's 43.... and a bastard! -
I guess I just saw his point totals of 81, 62, then 46 the last three years as part of his decline along with that at least to me he's seemed a step slower last year. But I agree a lot of teams would definitely benefit from his presence and I don't really get how he hasn't signed.

Just thought this was a pretty intersting interview since I hadn't heard the Mullet's side of the Tampa Bay fiasco. Melrose on Tampa, Toronto, the Avery suspension and more
-
I can agree with this because Cheli was most certainly a dirty player in his early days for sure. However I grew up in Arizona with extremely little hockey coverage and Cheli was drafted the year I was born... so I missed out on most of his antics other than youtube. But I can honestly say I'd be super pissed if Pronger came here. I will not dispute his on ice ability and the value he'd instantly add to the team, but he is one of my all time top hated players. Just like I'd never want the turtle on the wings, I didn't want Hatcher (didn't cheer for him as a Wing), dont want Steve Downie, etc. Certain players I just don't like or respect and could not stomach cheering for them. Pronger is at the top of that list.

Food for thought: Interesting Statistics that speak volumes

I've been disappointed with his point total so far this season, last year he was one of the top goal scorers for Phoenix the last few weeks of the season (not saying a ton, but 24 points in 57 games was decent for a scrapper and his goal scoring was picking up). Maybe it was a fluke, I haven't seen much of his play this year. But yeah, man I'd love to have him on our team. Hell i'd love any fourth liner that brought that kind of energy. -
I had actually forgotten about Shanny. It sucks that a player of his caliber/career is winding down his career in this fashion. Especially since I get the impression that New York led him along. He obviously isn't the player he used to be, but I hope he at least gets one last playoff run in somewhere. Damn it Sundin, sign or retire.

I agree with you to a point, especially that our 4th line doesn't seem to be providing energy/grit OR scoring. However i am curious how many of the names you listed are actually 4th line players vs 3rd liners AND how much they command in salary, lenth of contract (as somebody else mentioned as well). As far as Lucic vs Carcillo, I'd have to go with Lucic as well. BUT if Carcillo played in a hockey market I think he'd get a lot more respect than he currently does. Same goes for Doan to an extent. Carcillo is the man and can put up points.. but Lucic is moreso the man. -
McKenzie: Sundin likely to sign with VAN or NYR

That is exactly what I was thinking. He didn't want to play the end of the season on a new roster for the benefit of the team he captained for years (the return the Leafs would have received in a deadline deal), but it's OK for him to bandwagon on a team on his terms. Now I want him to go to NYR. Anything that pisses off the Habs fans sounds good! -

Ditto, I'd take Carcillo in a heartbeat. -
I always saw that jersey as a complete joke, but I was one of those that hated the idea of a Disney team in the NHL. I can see where you are coming from though. Same here. agreement here too. I cannot even fathom that ridiculous looking thing ever being worn in a game. Wow.

Well played sir.

Colorado (Denver-Metro area) Wings fans
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to Wings_Fan_In_Exile's topic in Group Events
Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up to a Denver Red Wings "meet up" group. Fellow Wings fans that get together for games. I haven't gone yet, but will probably check it out at some time since it's infinitely better to watch hockey with Wings fans instead of Avs fans Detroit Red Wings Fans Meetup Group So who's going to the game on the 27th??? -
Anybody on here interested in meeting up at a bar or something to catch some of the games next round (assuming they finish off the Stars )? I've heard the Moontime Bar & Grill, Giggling Grizzly, or Public House are good places in Denver... but I've never been to any of em. The Lazy Dog in Boulder is a decent sports bar/decent food, just doesn't cater to the Wings... I think it'd be fun to cheer em on as a group since we are the minority out here! And does anybody even read this section of the forum??

When I open the link it says "examiner.com Denver", so I'm guessin that site does one of those fancy IP thingys.
-
I could see MAYBE a fine, but I'm surprised they actually suspended him. How uptight can the NHL be?

Breaking News: Claude Lemieux signs with the SHARKS!!! the China Sharks... KuklasKorner
-
Heck yeah!!!
-
Wow, you aren't kidding. I've always had a love/hate relationship with Melrose, but I gotta feel bad for him here. That is one helluva short run as coach.
-
I'm probably in the minority, and I don't care.. I don't miss him at all. Just one of those players I disliked over the years. Not saying he wasn't one of the best back in the day, but I am glad he retired
-
According to the Toronto Star: and from TSN Kuklas Korner

Fantastic!

Players that have trashed their careers
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to PROBIE4PREZ's topic in General
Kinda depressing, but interesting read nonetheless. Fleury was fun to watch back in the day, I had already forgotten about him. And Lindbergh's story reminds me of the lead singer of Blind Mellon or something. It's kinda crazy how long the list could be for some of the other leagues.. especially the NFL. -
I think you are right. I know my comment would almost definitely be very different. haha.
-
I was wondering that too. Maybe that ailing/dying grandfather or whatever had him upset and distracted?

If I were the Kings I'd rather have O'Sullivan and Frolov than Gaborik and his injuries.
