Agreed. I suppose I should have specified that I disliked the Jason Williams and to a lesser extent Bertuzzi signings. I find it hard to believe they were the only two available at that price range. I'm a little surprised any type of Philly fan didn't make the list. From personal experience they get my vote. (except for Green Man of course )

In fairness to the zebras, hockey is obviously a fast paced game and just about ALL players have a knack to snap their head back if a stick is near their face. IMO, it's 50/50 if the refs catch the embellishment or a real infraction. That's why I wish the NHL would get tough with diving and video review every potential dive and actually dish out steep fines and subsequently suspensions for repeat offenders.

Voted "other" because I see the entire organization as responsible. Z has been pretty solid, yet got abused in the faceoff dept in game 2. Defense has been "meh" in my opinion Special teams have been mediocre The team in general didnt seem to be playing playoff hockey to me, as in playing their hearts out, blocking shots, throwing their bodies around (individual players showed this at times, but not the whole roster, and not consistently). Howie's let in some softies and based on recent history + no starts I have no reason to believe Ozzy would have been an upgrade Holland, while handcuffed this summer still didn't meet my approval rating. In fairness he didn't make any boneheaded signings or trades, but he didn't really improve the team either. I could go on, but that's the gist of it. Like I said before, these guys actually exceeded my expectations. It's sometimes easy to forget how spoiled us Wings fans have been.

The only reason I agree with the "No Goal" call on Z there is because of the precedent set on previous calls throughout this and previous playoffs. That doesn't make it right, but it makes the NHL refs consistent in at least one area of the game. Even if it means they are consistently wrong. haha. The way I look at it, if that were Joe Thornton or somebody using their skate as Z did and the goal stood, I'd be super pissed for the simple reason that I've seen that exact goal waived off countless times before. In short, NHL officiating is bass ackwards.

My vote remains no, for reasons mentioned above. Ozzy hasn't started in a looong time, I can't imagine him not using the first period to shake off the rust. Plus, Howard may very well be the future of the team, he needs this experience. Plus, IMO it almost seems like a slight to Ozzy to throw him in now that the series is essentially over....even if he is dying to play, Jimmy got us here, it's Jimmy the rest of the way. For a "transitional" year, the Wings exceeded my expectations.

Agree on both counts. But that "slashing" call and a few others this series have been pretty damned terrible. However, I'm much more disappointed with the Wings inability to hold onto a freaking lead!

I'd definitely put much more blame on Carlson on the 2nd goal than Green, although Green still looked terrible out there.

I was a little surprised that they play first since out of the 8 left they have played 2nd-most recently. Thank the heavens they are healthy as far as I know. Knock on wood.

I'll stand by my original prediction of Wings in 7. I agree that the Coyotes have scoring depth beyond Doan, but I see him as the heart and soul of that team. While it's a team sport, I really think his health may be the deciding factor to tilt this one way or the other.

I grew up in AZ and can attest that it is a bit of a beyotch to get to Glendale on a weekday. And it really is pretty much just suburbia out there too, other than the two pro teams, all I can think of is a mall... (been a few years) I'd argue three reasons the Cardinals have had less issues with attendance: 1: Recent success (a minute or two away from being champs) vs missing the playoffs for 8 years) 2: They only play 8 home games vs 41 (most if not all on on Sundays vs fighting rush hour on a Tuesday night) 3: Football vs hockey - just about anywhere in the US, football is gonna "win" -sad but true for most of the country I'd guess While I won't argue that a lot of people don't care about the team as your brother mentioned there are a few reasons... As mentioned previously, put out a garbage product for a decade and see what happens. Buffalo and Pittsburgh were both in danger of moving away too... What I've noticed with sports fans in general is that there is a HUGE chunk of casual sports fans always ready to jump on the next bandwagon. And I bet this is especially true in "melting pots" like Phoenix where just about somebody is from somehwere else. I'd be curious to compare attendance of the semi-successful 90's Coyotes attnedance vs the last few years of the Gretzky Era disaster.

Definitely a dirty play, and suspension worthy in my book. I personally reached that conclusion by imaging the NHL's reaction had the situation been reversed and Campbell ended Ovie's season with a "hit" from behind. Brian Campbell would already be suspended 5 games! I love AO's passion for the game, but he's gotta use that noggin a little more.
