Agreed.

Wow, I now dislike Brian Burke that much more now. Too bad he can't take responsibility for his player's actions...

No one standing up to Pronger...
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to redandwhiteforever's topic in General
Yeah it was a few years ago but kind of ironic considering his hit last night and the fact they are now on the same team. And yeah I know it's spelled Selanne, but I really don't like him. -
Sweet merciful justice! As said before, this makes Game 4 a great opportunity for us to go up 3-1. Taking both in their barn is a challenge, but they are now minus their leader in minutes logged I believe. Nice!

That's what I'm talkin bout!

I'd like to think CBC has a relative unbiased opinion in this series. Columnist Scott Morrison says NHL should punish Pronger "Pronger should be suspended for at least one game, maybe two... Here's why. It was a hit to the head, something the league doesn't like, and it wasn't accidental or incidental. Pronger knew exactly what he was doing and added thrust to the impact. It was a hit from behind... The fact that Holmstrom was able to return in the third period with 12 stitches is a mitigating factor, the degree of injury does matter, but it doesn't take away from the viciousness of the attack and the fact a player was still injured... Earlier in the playoffs, you might recall, the NHL suspended Nashville forward Alexander Radulov for one game... The other significant suspension was to Ducks winger Brad May (for) three games.... The Pronger hit was worse than Radulov's, but at least happened during the play unlike May's. So that means more than one, less than three - two games, in other words. But don't be surprised if he gets nothing." Interesting read, I tend to agree for the most part.

I'm really hoping for a one game suspension, but sadly I'm not counting on it....

McKenzie's article doesn't really say anything this thread hasn't, but I still like hearing an outside view. Bob McKenzie's article- "could go either way" To suspend or not to suspend. If Pronger is suspended, for no more than one game, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise. The score of the game and the fact it was an elbow from behind doing some damage to Holmstrom's head and that it was also perceived as payback for earlier events will work against Pronger and the Ducks. If Pronger isn't suspended, well, that won't be a huge shock either. Holmstrom apparently did not suffer serious injury on the play, it's the Western Conference final and there have been hits like this one that have in the past gone unpunished. A statement was made alright, but it was by the guys in red. Now we will wait to see what statement, if any, the league makes.

Babcock's line shuffling was brilliant.
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to redwinger4747's topic in General
Great post. I was thinking about this last night when I saw the shake up with the lines. He seems to have things working very nicely. And the fact that the Wings didn't lose their cool after the Pronger hit makes me believe he is able to have them keep their cool too. -
Man that game made me happy! I forgot all about the $2000 of repairs my friggin car needs. That was a great effort from everybody. Holmstrom is an ANIMAL, Hasek shut the door with a shutout just as I was hoping for, the shake up of the lines looked great, and they didn't let the game deteriorate into a thugfest after the Pronger hit from behind on Holmstrom. I could go on forever but can't get too excited since they still need to more wins to finish this series and that won't be an easy task. I expect the Ducks to come back with a vengeance in Game 4. But if the Wings have a repeat effort of last night they will be damn hard to beat. Grrrrrrreat game.

I'll be surprised if Pronger gets anything for that hit. I think he absolutely derserves to sit Game 4 but because Rob, for some unknown reason got the penalty, and that Holmstrom luckily isn't hurt, I don't think much will come from this other than adding to Pronger's less than stellar rep of cheap plays. The best revenge we can get here is to continue what happened in Game 3. Beat em on the scoreboard. Beat them with Pronger on the ice. Officially make Pronger the LOSER and knock him and the Ducks out of the playoffs with two more wins
-
Thanks to the Ducks fans on here with the classy posts. That hit reconfirms my strong dislike for Pronger. LIke everybody has said, Rob got the blame for a dirty play by Pronger. I'm really happy Holmtrom wasn't hurt. I hope Bertuzzi lays a nice CLEAN hit on Pronger and sends him flying in Game 4.

I agree with this assessment. I'm thinking it will be one game for Niedermayer, nothing for friggin Pronger. Butterfly stitches for Holmstrom, but he's back on the ice! That man is an animal.

WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

That's what I'm talkin bout! Hot damn! That's the start I was to the hockey gods for. Hasek was solid. Goals were just pretty as all hell. PK solid. Playing physical. Beautiful! 40 more minutes, I hope they keep this up. -
I agree. Although at the moment I'm entirely focused on Game 3 and the rest of the series, but its' good to hear he's at least getting better. That's a nasty injury.

WCF Game 3 (5/15): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET

Here's to a Wings 2-0 win. I expect Hasek to be pissed about losing and allowing 4 goals (not that he played poorly) and to shut down the offense of Team Disney. And maybe Cleary and Draper bounce back with solid games. I'm curious to see what a non-injured Kopecky can do in place of Calder. -
(from TSN) Tomas Kopecky HT: 6-3 WT: 187 26 GP, 0G, 1A, +/- of -2 and 22PIM Assets Has a very projectable frame, sound two-way instincts and plenty of scoring potential. Is also a versatile forward in the Red Wings mold. Flaws Must add significant bulk in order to make his mark on the NHL. Has a tendency to take games off, which won't cut it in the big league. Career potential Third line winger. After Calder was basically invisible (don't blame the guy since he apparently has a broken hand) it will be interesting to see what a HEALTHY, yet inexperienced guy can do in there. (living in CO I've never seen Kopecky play so I posted TSN's quick overview for those in my situation).

I remember when he made that save I was like "holy s***e, the snow angel of doom just saved our asses!"
-
A broken hand would explain his lowly stats/invisible play, but not why he is taking up a roster spot. I am not bashing him, but questioning why he is in the lineup if he is hurt and unable to contribute. He has been invisible. If he were healthy I'm sure it would be different, BUT: Playoff Stats Season ..... GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW Shots Pct 2006-2007 13 0 1 1 1 8 0 0 0 13 0.0 Last 5 Games Game....................... WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Sonnuva.... I could just feel that OT goal coming. The Wings just couldn't get it outta their zone. A little bummed out after being up 3-2, but I now look forward to Tuesday. -

GAME 1 (5/11) GDT: Ducks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to aflac9262's topic in General
Kudos to Hasek and the PK, both of which have had an excess of work so far. And for a flukey goal, I thought it was purdy. Not a bad start at all. -

Same here. I haven't had butterflies in my stomach like this since I've been in a game myself. Even though I've dogged him from time to time, Hasek has been friggin solid as of late and I think that will be KEY! Here's to a Wings victory tonight. GO WINGS! -
Pang is the man! "Holy Jumpin!"
