Wings Fan looking for brethren in Colorado

They do get annoying don't they. I think for some of them, the only thing they know how to add to a hockey conversation is "Red Wings Suck". I might have to check out this Moon Times Bar & Grill, sounds like a nice change from watching in my girlfriend's apartment trying not to get her a noise complaint. -
Excellent. Wallpaper updated.

The more the merrier. Especially if rooting for the Wings. Welcome to the board.

I think it's a little extreme to say he did those "all by himself". It's a team sport. IMHO, giving a goalie all the credit is just as bad as laying all the blame on a goalie. But I do agree that he was the main reason the Sabres had the success they did back then. He had plenty of help with the Czech team, but again, he was a huge reason they won that one too. Even though he annoys me, he has played very well lately and that makes me very happy. *edit* not picking a fight here, just throwing out my two cents.

I tried to start a thread about how well Hasek played the rest of this series but it was apparently deleted. So I'll post it here one last time: I will happily be the first to admit that Hasek was absolutely solid in Games 4-6. I didn't see him pull the motionless snow angel ONCE and he had some HUGE saves. A little help from Lidstrom tonight, but he was totally solid. I could feel the strong possibility of a shutout coming on midway through the second period. If this is considered eating crow for my previous thread.. it has never tasted so good. And I have to throw a Kudos out there to Hasek and the Wings. I might not love the guy, or even like him, but he really stepped up the last three games of the series. Games 1-3 SV% .908, GAA 1.66 Games 4-6 SV% .961, GAA 1.00 his GAA was good the whole time- (thanks in part to solid D) but he really stepped up his play another level the last three and there is no denying he was everything Dom fans said he could be and what Dom critics had hoped for when we said he could play better.

I say Wings in 6. It worked for them the last two rounds.....

Getting as far away from Disney and the "Mighty" jerseys as possible was a good idea. The new jerseys are certainly an improvement IMO. Welcome to the boards.

Heck yeah man! 2 huge goals! I love it! I was always neutral on this guy, but I'll be damned if he isn't big for us tonight!

GAME 6 (5/7) GDT: Red Wings @ Sharks (LIVE)
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to aflac9262's topic in General
This has been a loooooong day at the office. I cannot wait til 7pm (MST) for puck drop! I predicted the Wings to win this in 7. I hope I'm wrong and they take it tonight! GO WINGS! -
Thanks man. ..... I really hope the Wings close out the series tonight. but beyond Game 5 it's been such a tight series I'd be surprised (pleasantly) if the Wings won three straight. That being said, here's hoping they do and avoid a Game 7! By the way, I'm impressed with the civil nature most of the Sharks fans have shown on here.

I couldn't bring myself to read all five pages of this thread, but I couldn't resist throwing in my $.02 I think Bertuzzi has been pretty decent out there. He seems to be getting a litlte better every game. He's a big body that we need out there. He hasn't been carrying this team, but I don't believe that's what we traded for him for. The fact that he has missed so much time and is most likely still recovering from his back and concussion shouldnt' be ignored. All things considered I say he's doing fine and should only improve.

Out of Market for tomorrows game? Too bad...
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to DraperFan MN's topic in General
It's times like this that moving to Canada seems pretty reasonable. Growing up in Arizona they would show baseball highlights from game 20 of some team's 164 game schedule or whatver, then talk basketball and off season football... then mention that the Red Wings won Game 1 against the Capitals in the Stanley Cup Finals. Oh how pissed you used to get. -
Like some of you have said, I think he is fighting off rust and recovering from back surgery and a concussion. He doesn't look 100% to me. Same with Zetterberg. And I wonder if Lidstrom is hurt too or just making a couple mistakes a game (which I'm not used to seeing). Anyway if it's just rust and getting used to a new team I think he will slowly improve. If he's playing hurt we might have to wait til next year to see him play his game... I hope we keep him.

What two teams would you like to see in the finals?
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to BeeRYCE's topic in General
I pretty much agree. If Detroit is in the Finals and not a California team I'd be a happy camper. It'd be a tough call for me. I think I would actually choose DET v BUF with the two #1 seeds. As a Coyote fan as well I'd like to see Teppo and Briere do well (not beat DET, but make it to the SCF). Plus I think Buffalo's style would match up nicely with Detroit's and make for a fun series to watch. NYR vs DET would also be cool since I have a strong dislike for the Rangers and like you guys said an Original 6 matchup would be friggin sweet. Ottawa vs Detroit I'd be alright with as well, especially since I think that would be the Wings best shot at being the Champs. -
I have not heard about that, but it sounds awesome! Do you have any news links to it I could read? Of course they are probably in Russian.....
-
That really was a s***ty way to lose a game....and seires. Especially after turning aside 60+ shots. Ouch. Well maybe that will get goalies to quit bitching to the refs so often. What happened to the tradition of just captains and alternate captains talking to the refs? So much yappin out there.
-
I love this one, look at Holmstrom earning his spot in front of the net. Love that guy. NIce pics.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. haha. Good point. Hockey in Russia makes me think of the Summit Series. Too bad they didn't bring that back this year.... Dang the is a heck of a time to wake up. You are a true fan. Reminds me of watching the World Cup (soccer/futball) in 2002 when it was in South Korea/Japan. I was getting up at 4AM to watch US games. Thanks! She'll need it!

I'm not solely placing the blame of Game 3's loss squarely on his shoulders, it is a team game and a few players have to make a mistake before Floppy gets his chance, but seriously. I don't understand how laying motionless on your back -out of postion nevertheless- is a good way to make saves. I know he used to be a premier goalie, but man oh man. If it wasn't for Lidstrom's stick I think it was, it would have easily been 3-1. I'm not saying he's complete crap- not at all- but his lack of good technique and position drive me insane. He has yet to outplay either goalie this series and for that reason alone the Wings have their work cut out for them unless he gets a little better. Anyway, Game 4 hopefully draws us even. GO WINGS!

I think I pretty much agree with you on all points there. Hasek IS good, but not the best. BUT he is better than Legace (even though I like Legace better- go figure).
