    The Distinct Kicking Motion Goal

While the lenthy "contreversial" reviews of goals can be a pain, it's better than razor blades flying around the goal crease more than they need to.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

Even though I was whiney-it happens and I know it's annoying- it wasn't a "I hate Hasek cuz he sucks" thread. He drives me crazy, but obviously whining about it on here doesnt' do anybody good. So my bad. But some of you guys sound like he has been the saviour of this team and they are lost without him. He has been pretty solid overall and made some big saves, but he has also had a pretty good defense in front of him limiting shots and quality scoring chances. He was 17-19 in games 1 & 2 and 25-27 last night. 19 shots on goal isn't the busiest night for a goalie. His Save Percentage in this series is .908 Solid yes, but I wouldn't say he's carrying the team like some of you are suggesting. Anyway, here's to him playing well in Game 4 along with the rest of the TEAM and a nice big W in the Shark Tank.

Non-Michigan fans: How did you become a Wings fan?

Parents moved from Kalamazoo, MI to Tucson, AZ in the 80's as Wings fans. No hockey team existed in AZ until '96 I think it was. So when I started following hockey in '93-'94, it only made sense to root for my dad's team since there was no hometown team at the time. Stuck with them ever since, and have some interesting conversations now that I live in Colorado.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

So I realize that my post came off as sounding whiney (Hasek does annoy me and I'm not apologizing for that). What I never said was "Hasek is to blame for the loss". What I did say was "I'm not solely placing the blame of Game 3's loss squarely on his shoulders" Yes he's been a top goalie for years. Yes he had a solid regular season. Yes he's had a pretty decent playoff run this year. No I don't think he's been as good as he was in '02. Yes I hate his style. I understand that it has worked for him for years, but I hate watching it. Our team was simply outplayed the second half of the game and that is why they lost. So fine, you guys are right his floppy play often is effective. But I'll be damned if he doesn't look ridiculous when he lies motionless on his back while the puck bounces around the crease. I disliked Hasek when he played for Buffalo, I begrudgingly cheered for him on his first stint with the Wings. I disliked him in Ottawa. And I begrudgingly root for him again. Just because he is a Red Wing doesn't mean I have to love him. But it does mean I'll cheer him on. Blaming a loss on a goalie is about as lame as blaming a loss on any single player and nowhere in my post do I believe I did that. He just drives me crazy sometimes. And with that I'll shut up.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

I was referring to when he was lying on the ice and Lidstrom (or somebody) stuck their stick right at the goal line and kept the puck from going in. I am already trying to forget this game and look forward to Game 4, but I think the puck was frozen after that, thus no ensuing PP. He's actually 10th in the playoffs with a Save Percentage of.916 which isn't bad at all, but not what I would call INCREDIBLE. But I agree that scoring one goal isn't going to cut it. He's not the sole reason they lost, as I already said. But his style of play does drive me insane! Good points all around. They just got worked over for the second half of the game, you could just feel either a penalty or goal coming at some point. True, he didn't pull a Roy and give the puck to the other team, and was stuck with a less than stellar performance from his teamates. But I do agree that he is an ass clown IMO. While I was very very happy in '02 with the Cup, I stil disliked seeing him win it. Just don't like him. He's had a very impressive career and helped the WIngs quite a bit, but I still don't like him. Yes he's good. But I don't think he is the dominant golie he was in '02. And he has always been annoying to me. But him being a WIng I will still root for his goofy ass.

    A different perspective today

I'm glad all three of you are relatively OK. Didn't look at the pics since the website stated it takes 11 steps to install whatever is required to view the pics. And it's good to see a young Wings fan starting out life rooting for the proper team.

Holmstrom: Out until at least Game 4

I was wondering how reliable this report is as well. But maybe I am just holding out hope that he can come back sooner.

I was wondering why The Joe looked so empty. Those prices are INSANE!

I thought about this thread when I realized we were going to be shut out. Good thing you didn't have it strapped to your chest for a few hours for no reason. Too bad the Wings LOST. Bah! Sure Bernie is probablyi just a passing fad and can't compete with traditions like the octopus, but if people are having fun with it, then have your fun. I'll stick with "tried and true" traditions, but whatever floats your collective boats.

    POST GAME - Game 1 (4/26) SJ 2 DET 0

Sonnuva.... disappointing and yes, boring game. I'll tip my hat to the Sharks but I know the Wings will do much better on Saturday.

Toss it some time in the 3rd period.... right after the goal that seals the win for our guys. It'd be icing on the cake, and if you do get booted, you don't miss too much..

haha. Good post. I know that feeling well. An hour to go, I'm even a little nervous. GO WINGS!

    Pre-GAME 1 (4/26): Sharks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET

I read that article to. Good thing writers don't PLAY hockey so they have no bearing on the game. I meant I'm jealous of those lucky enough to be going to The Joe, but I didn't specify that. Go Wings!! A little over three hours to go. Hurry up time!

    Versus Commercial Campaign

Which enterprise one is your favorite? "Nice save mom!" or "let's go girls!" ? They need new some different ads for the love of all that is holy.

    Pre-GAME 1 (4/26): Sharks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET

Yes it is. Counting down the hours like never before. I'm jealous of you going to the game.

    Versus Commercial Campaign

Nicely done. I like the second one especially. I remember completely losing interest in a pretty hot girl (turned out she worked at hooters, haha) because whe liked baseball and not hockey. I like the VS ad campaign, but it seems like they pick one or two of em and replay them over and over and over. Variety would be nice. And at least in CO, they show the same damn Enterprise commercial every single commercial break. Apparently Sprint, Enterprise and Dodge are the only sponsors they have...... ugh Anyway, good work and good luck sir.

    Message from a Sharks fan

There are always going to be annoying posters trying to get a rise out of people (not pointing any fingers). I just try to ignore them and focus on the good. Defenseman13 for instance, nice avatar!

    Octopus

To each their own I guess. I think it's a great tradition and it definately gets me pumped when I see one on the ice- especially after a nice goal. Hopefully the fine tradition lives on. I say throw it man, I'll be watching for it!

I'm stoked for this game. I really hope it goes well.

Am I the only one freak'out at all of the injuries on the team?

It is a lot of injuries, but it's the way the playoffs go. Can't expect to avoid adversity, it's how they respond. And hopefully at least some of these guys heal up OK.
  22. Wings_Fan_In_Exile

Wouldn t it be perfect if .....

I find that extremely hard to believe. I know a few people who met him and said he was a class act. I've read a lot of first hand accounts from Maltby, Draper, Shanahan, Chelios, Osgood, Williams, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Robitaille, ect where they have nothing but good things to say. Just about anybody in the press has nothing but good experience talking with him. Yzerman's reputation as a good guy has always been undisputed as far as I've ever heard. Not sure how reliable "some guy who was supposedly on the inside" is. Anyway, off topic. Go WIngs!

    Word.
  24. Wings_Fan_In_Exile

    Calder Injured?

They call the playoffs a war of attrition for a reason. I'm sure every team has a few injuries they are fighting through, including the Sharks. I can't imagine a player being all that effective with a broken hand though. I just hope Homer can make a speedy recovery.

tampa bay might have to trade 1 of their big 3

I don't see it happening now either. Maybe in the days before the Salary Cap. But I don't think he'd fit in the new budget.
