In the spirit of the 'Canes coming out angry tonight....here are a few google image search results for angry canes..... Go 'Canes! Play angry!
-
Just because I feel like it, I think I'm gonna play the Doc Emerick drinking game tonight. (every time I hear him shout DRIIIIIIVE!!!! I consume alcohol). And if Emerick isn't on the play by play... well then I'll figure something out...

"Don't Stop Believing" and "Living On A Prayer" seem to be the two theme songs to the Joe as of late...and sadly I am very OK with that. I like the chant, would LOVE to hear that on my tv tonight.
-
Hopefully there are two reasons the Wings win tonight: Hossa Datsyuk
-
Yeah... but he's still a midget!!!

Grew up in Arizona with no hockey team, parents from Kalamazoo and hockey fans. For some reason I adopted the Lions too.

Same here! I want a Blackhawks/Red Wings WCF- man would that be AWESOME!!! And I want a Game 7 between Pitt/Wash

It's just un-*******-believable that a series with the LAST TWO CUP CHAMPS is not broadcast nationally for a pivotal Game 5. And my home computer is broken so I'm sitting at my damn office to watch the stream. Thanks for the links though.

No suspension for Kunitz cross-check on Varlamov
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to edicius's topic in General
I think the worst part is, if Varlamov flopped like most of the goalies in the league do (just look at Ozzie) it would have been a guaranteed penalty and possible suspension. Instead he played like a man, ignored getting cross checked in the neck and made the play.... and Kunitz got away scott free. -
And his interviews can make for some quality sound bytes

No suspension for Kunitz cross-check on Varlamov
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to edicius's topic in General
I thought it was a pretty blatant cross check to the head of a prone player...... I actually was expecting a game suspension... -
So both Pronger and Ott received 13% of the votes for dirtiest player, from the players.. The fan poll on TSN currently shows... Steve Ott - 7.6% Chris Pronger - 52.4% Jarkko Ruutu - 13.5% Sean Avery - 19% Scott Hartnell - 2.7% Other - 4.5% Looks like the fans think even less of him.

Brashear's antics on Sunday (suspension coming)
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to miller76's topic in General
That was a definite cheapshot. Combined with his pre-game law breaking I am guessing two games. I've always seen Brashear to be one of the dirtier players in the league so he honestly probably deserves a longer one. -
Add yourself to the list of those with no Wings coverage in Round One. I don't expect Versus to cater to the Wings like they do the Penguins or Flyers (pretty sure Comcast is based outta Philly)... but still, one game as defending champs is kinda sad, especially since they aired all the games of the other lopsided series. Ah well.

I voted for the Ducks. It is a sickening feeling to cheer for Anaheim, but I'd love nothing more than for the Wings to end Pronger and Co.'s season and I think Detroit has the edge for sure this season. It probably won't happen (based on how they've started), but the Sharks could wake up at any moment and become a nasty playoff oponent.

My "shrine" is nothing on your level, more one wall dedicated to the Wings come playoffs time. Just a Wings Stanely Cup Champs banner, a cheesy Wings light, Yzerman banner, etc. Don't have it set up for this year yet though

TSN Reports Draper out first 2 games of playoffs
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to Mickeyisms Rule!'s topic in General
True, he did score a goal with his freakin face last playoff run. That's got to be worth a few bonus points. -
I'm gonna have to agree with those that think this is yet another overblown incident involving Avery. He is a pest being a pest in this video. As previously mentioned, Jack Edwards was the one annoying me in that video. Thank god I don't live in MA and have to listen to him on a regular basis..

I see what you did there. Well played.

Women -- In the Upper Tiers of Hockey?
Wings_Fan_In_Exile replied to Datsyerberger's topic in General
Yeah... I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you on the "women are no good at hockey" bit.... I dated a girl for a few years that was the captain of her Minnesota High School boys hockey team(school that produced Jason Blake and Matt Cullen) and she also was captain of the University of Colorado Mens hockey team..now not Division I, but she held her own, broke her nose, ankle, knee cap during her "career" AND was not a brute of a woman nor bitched about pain. Not saying she would've necessarily made it in Division I or the NHL, but women certainly can compete up to a certain level. And she did have some good locker room stories for sure. -
I'd be a very happy man with all those beads at Mardi Gras (I think that's where he is in that pic).

I do wonder what will happen IF (semi-big IF) Conks ends up being our goalie for the playoffs. IF he starts at some point in the playoffs and the Wings win with him... too many IF's too worry about I guess.
-
Exactly. I'll be watching this thread until links to some of those other avenues start getting posted up in here

I'm with you there. Very hard to cheer for them. But just like when I begrudgingly cheered for PIT against SJ, I do it tonight in favor of the Wings in the standings. If it helps, the Sharks have the Turtle. Good reason to root against.

I was watching the Ducks Flames game tonight (good game) and I couldn['t help but reflect how much I dislike Chris Pronger, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Despite their obvious talent I honestly would never ever want either of those three on the Wings and wish nothing but failure for those bastards. This got me thinking, the last time I disliked NHL players on one team so strongly it was the trio of Adam Foote, Patrick Roy and Claude Lemieux. Just curious what your top three hated players on one roster are, and for discussion purposes, your top 3 all time hated players in the league. Same team: 1. Roy 2. Lemieux 3. Foote All time (subject to change) 1. Lemieux 2. Ed Belfour 3. Ulf Samuelsson
