yes, he has elevated his game quite a bit ... there was great comment from one of the announcers during one of the games saying that people look at all of the veteran red wings like drake, malts, drapes, cheli, etc during the regular season and wonder why we still have them around when most of them don't seem to contribute much, but once the playoffs start they pick up the pace and you start hearing their names a lot more ... this is the time of year they play for, and this is why we have them around ...

i don't know, he hasn't been as productive point-wise as he usually is, but sometimes those are the breaks, and he has been going up against the top defensive pairing ... i would think the best indicator is whether he's practicing ... everyone's a little banged up this time of year, but i would imagine if he's nursing anything at all serious he would be sitting out some practices ... haven't heard anything in that regard ... anyone?

no, that usually eliminates blackout of local channels ... but versus or center ice gets blacked out if a local channel carries it ... for example, i can't get any caps games on center ice or versus because i get the local feed ... and yes, the quality was terrible last night, versus is usually pretty good but last night was rough ...

wow ... the arguments in this thread are seriously some of the most hilarious stuff i've read in a while ... downey has demonstrated outstanding timing this year, he's not a ticking time bomb just skating around waiting to go off ... we get some bad calls, but it's always interference or hooking, not instigating ... in my opinion, there's a good chance nashville (read: tootoo) is going to ocme out hitting and trying to set a physical tone right off the bat, and i can already see the bullseyes on hank and pavel ... in my opinion, based on everything we've seen thus far this year, downey is the best equipped player we've got to respond ... i say he plays ... -

i agree, anything is possible, but i'd say the chances are pretty slim ... nashville has always seemed like a team that can't keep its composure, makes stupid mistakes and takes dumb penalties when the pressure is on, and i see that again this year ... just out of curiosity, do they have anyone on their team other than gelinas who has had any playoff success?
