are you referring to the forsberg who won 2 cups, 2 world championships, 2 olympic gold medals, and is headed to the hall of fame? hell, if that's all he's gonna do we should definitely him walk ...
-
this is a tired argument ... you could say the same thing about anyone who would be our goalie ... the reality is that over the past few games our defense has been worse than toronto's, worse that florida's, worse than new jersey's ... ozzie hasn't been sharp either, noone is arguing differently, but it's not like the defense has been great and he's letting in soft goals - the whole team has stunk it up ... sure, it would have been nice for him to steal one, but the fact that he didn't singlehandedly win us a game doesn't make him a terrible goalie, toskala doesn't singlehandedly win every game either ... why are you singling out the goalie when the entire team has been terrible?
-
without any D in front of them, and without any O either, none of those are going to steal a game ...
-
true, ozzie hasn't played well of late, but that is true of pretty much the entire team, and to suggest that all of the goals he's allowed are his fault, he sucks, and we should trade him is a bit over-the-top to me ...
-
where were you during the first half of the season? i don't remember you saying ozzie sucked then ... and i would have thought that would be the time to try trading him since his stock was higher ... it's convenient that you wait until the entire team is playing poorly and then blame the one guy whose performance depends the most on everyone else ... ozzie hasn't been strong, but our defense has looked terrible and he hasn't had a chance on most of those shots (even the announcers agree) ... and if you think the all-star game means anything you are a moron ... they don't hit and barely play defense, and goalies are routinely hung out to dry ... goalies go through rough stretches, even the great and mighty toskala has them (and why would toronto trade toskala for ozzie?) ... ozzie will be fine
-
another interesting tidbit from last night's game ... there were only 13 shots on goal by our forwards, and 7 of them came from dats/homer/flip ... hard to get secondary scoring when the other lines aren't generating shots ...

and why does congress think the nhl might have a steroid problem? 2 words ... jiri hudler

Trade deadline in 2 weeks. Your one winger, and D.

sorry, i wasn't suggesting it was your idea, just hadn't heard his name mentioned much, was wondering if there was something else afoot with him ... as to #4, i think the suns think they need a big inside presence to win (not sure he's it), don't know (or care) about the twins, atlanta would trade hossa if they don't think they can re-sign him (and it doesn't sound like he has a lot of confidence in the organization's ability to ice a winner), florida isn't doing much and might part with jokinen if they commit to rebuilding, and holland took a gamble on bert being a healthy physical power forward to help us win the cup ... the logic is there, they just don't always work ... -

why would the kings be looking to move cammalleri? he's only 25 and locked up for another year ... -
WHY are we SHOUTING? PERHAPS we should CALM DOWN and spell DIFFERANT DIFFERANTLY ... as to the question at hand, if it will help some of our other players get it going (flip, huddles, franzen, sammy) then it's fine with me ... the team does seem to get a jump when they are separated but then get reunited for a shift or two each game ...
-
actually, that's how the real ones are ... they are dye-sublimated, the pattern is dyed right onto the jersey, nothing is sewn on ... if they are made by Lutch they are the real deal, and Kait I think is the other company that makes the good ones ... most of the ones on ebay are good, just be careful of the size, they often run large ... i got one a few years back and it came down to my knees (and i'm 6'1") ...
-
you can also find them on ebay from time to time, usually for around $40-50 ...
-
so is datsyuk, zetterburg, lidstrom, rafalski, hasek/osgood, holmstrom, cleary ... let's not give them the cup just yet ...
-
i agree completely, lids is OUR most valuable player ... but ... because of the team he is surrounded by, us losing lidstrom would be less apocalyptic than the caps losing ovechkin, the thrashers losing kovalchuk, the sharks losing thornton, just to name a few ... and unfortunately i think that will be held against him
-
well, to be honest i'm not sure there was that much agreement that he was even the most valuable player on the team ... pavel, hank, and ozzie also got quite a bit of support if i recall ... now, none of that is to say that he isn't deserving of the hart, but when you can look at a guy like ovechkin who is clearly carrying that team, i'm not sure you can say the same about lidstrom ... that's not to say lidstrom isn't equally valuable, just that he doesn't stand out as much ... he'll get the norris, i doubt he'll get both
-
the ricci brown paper bag ... awarded to the league's ugliest player the hatcher pylon ... awarded to the league's worst skater the pinata ... awarded to the player who takes the most abuse in front of the other team's net the crosby ... awarded to sidney crosby every year so the league will have another opportunity to promote him
-
how about the Langer, awarded to the player who displays the least amount of effort and heart in proportion to their salary ...
-
well, if they all show up AND return to their prime form then sure they'd be scary ... but what are the chances of that? forsberg doesn't worry me - it's why i don't really care to see him here, i think he's too banged up to be a factor ... so really all we're talking about is sundin, and while he'll help i don't think that just the addition of sundin makes them a team to fear ... that said, luongo could steal a playoff series all by himself if he gets on a roll ...
-
seriously, i think it's only a matter of time before tampa just pulls its goalie at the onset and goes with 6 skaters ... that couldn't be any worse
-
yeah, no real surprise here ... now i'm just waiting for the announcement that he has been selected as a replacement for the all-star game
-
the issue isn't cap room ... why get rid of a defenseman only to have to go try to find another one (who doesn't know our system) to replace him? plus we usually give up draft picks with every trade ... quality defensemen are in shorter supply than quality forwards, and they always say defense wins championships ... sundin would be nice, but we can add scoring depth without giving up an integral part of our defense ...
-
i hear you, and maybe the leadership and scoring depth is a bigger concern, but i just don't think it makes sense to create a problem in order to fix a problem, especially when there will be other options for scoring depth at the deadline ... i'd love to see sundin in the red and white, but unless toronto is willing to take picks and prospects i don't think we can afford to give them what they want ...
-
wait a second, we're all looking at how this plays out in future seasons ... kronwall is on the rise, sundin may not re-sign, etc, so it's a bad deal ... but what about this year? personally, i don't think trading kronwall for sundin gives us a better shot at the cup now ... yes it brings us some more scoring, but look what it does to our defense ... if kronner is gone that leaves probably meech or quincey stepping into a starting role, and that's if noone gets hurt ... lidstrom - rafalski lilja - quincey/meech chelios - lebda i don't like the looks of that ... which means we'd need to then go out and acquire another D-man (which many of us already say we need with kronner) to replace kronner ... what's the point? i think the bottom line is that while kronner-for-sundin might seem like a reasonable trade skillwise, it creates more problems than it solves for the team this year ... i don't see us moving any regulars, especially on defense, which is why we're probably not going to land sundin
-
you're right, it isn't his fault at all, but i guess it's the same as with a band whose song gets played over and over ... you just get tired of hearing the damn song and you start to dislike the band for being overplayed, even though it's not their fault, it's the radio station's ... still, if his injury gives other players an opportunity to step into the spotlight so that the league's PR isn't so one-dimensional, that would be good for the game ...
-
see, here's where i disagree with you ... the league needs crosby and alternatives to crosby ... if all the league promotes is "come check out crosby" then people will tune in once, see what all the hype is about, and then most will tune out again, been there, done that ... if they promote a number of top players, with the idea that people should check out the rivalries between them, choose sides, follow the rivalries, etc. i think it would bring people into the game in a more lasting way ... i think this is why so many people object to crosby - it's not actually crosby, but how the league promotes him almost exclusively, as if he's the only player worth talking about ...
