My wife said the same thing ... what a terrible jersey. Unless you know that that is Ohio's flag ... I didn't ... there's nothing about it that says Columbus or Blue Jackets ... when they showed it at first and it was the same logo that they were showing when the draft came back from commercial, I thought it was a commemorative draft jersey!
-
yeah, i thought they were all unveiling them tonight? i guess that was just another rumor?
-
Wow ... if they keep this up, it looks like Nashville will be joining the ranks of St. Louis, Columbus, and Chicago, which means an even louder chorus of haters saying we suck and we only have a good record because we play in a s***ty division ...
-
I agree, with Hasek #1 and Ozzie #2 we don't have a place for him, and I don't think he'd be content as a 3rd stringer or in G.R. for a year.
-
This sucks! Hasek is an ass-clown! I'm feeling very butt-hurt right now! Just kidding! This sounds good, we were so close this year, hopefully next year we can send Dom off with some hardware. Lets go wings!

Glad we went out with a bang ... great season boys! Can't wait until next year!

which one of you toilet papered Gigueres house?

That guy didn't have one syllable pronounced the "right" way did he? -
Yup ... between he and Pavel, same line or not, the future looks very bright ... here's hoping tomorrow is also bright ... No way ... Selanne can't play PK, no defense ... he's old, it's not his fault, but at this point in his career he's all offense, that doesn't compare with a 2-way player like Z ...
-
Yes, but that's only because the other team doesn't score ...
-
Don't think this is quite right. Your likelihood of scoring increases with more shots, but since save % is not constant from game to game there are no guarantees that more shots translate into more goals. This actually might not be that hard to believe ... sure, some games are dominated from start to finish by one team, and then they'd have more shots, but plenty of others start out with one team grabbing a lead and then falling back into a defensive mode. If they hold on, they would likely win with fewer shots.
-
He's also about the only player in the league who can get a shot off from 3 feet out with two D guys on his back and a goalie stick up his ass.
-
Jiggy's been solid, not spectacular. I can't recall him making any saves that made me stand up and spill my beer, but then I don't think he's really had to either. Credit for that I guess has to go to the Duck D ... they're doing the little things and keeping the puck on the perimeter for the most part. I think Beachemin has played pretty well, he always seems to be in the way in front of your net, and God knows I'm tired of hearing the announcers say Bo - sha - man. (maybe he should wear a cape)
-
Regardless of Jiggy's pads, the bottom line is we did have some open net and we didn't quite hit it ... hopefully we're just saving up for tomorrow.

Even if we lose game 6, the future is very bright for this team

Maybe. I think you will start seeing parity with the big stars ... teams can't load up like in the past, which means everyone gets some. It'll take a few years until all the big names go through contract negotiations, but I think what we're seeing in Buffalo with Briere/Drury is the beginning. What I think this does, though, is bring to the forefront what has always been true in my mind - what makes a championship team is the role players. Obviously the scouting, drafting, and grooming is going to be a huge factor, because this is how teams find the young and inexpensive players that fill out the roster. And this is why many of the traditionally strong organizations, ourselves included, will continue to flourish. -
Exactly. Being lucky doesn't take anything away from being good. I think we were the better team yesterday, the Ducks were the luckier team. The shot Lids shoots with his stick hits the crossbar, but the shot the Ducks shoot off his stick does a nice little rainbow over Dom and into the net. Those are the lucky breaks, and right now they're going Anaheim's way. And again, that's hockey.
-
I don't think he was sitting on the lead yesterday, we put up 37 shots, we just couldn't get another on to go. It's not like our guys weren't attacking, but at the same time with a one goal lead you don't want to get too crazy on offense and give up a bad breakaway either. Putting the Draper line out at the end of the PP wasn't a bad move, our top lines had just been on the ice against their PK, it stands to reason that they'd be coming right back with their big guns, so Babs put out our shutdown line. I agree with your assessment of the Bert-Lang-Cleary line, man they were scary back there ... they couldn't get the puck out of our own zone to save their lives. Most of their shifts together resembled a penalty kill.
-
Agreed. While they might be the most obvious scapegoats, I think we could find plenty of others if we tried, starting with Pavel on that penalty, and everyone on our PP units, and ... but what's the point? Both Franzen and Lilja have played well for us, mistakes are part of the game. Hopefully both will have a big game on Tuesday.

Anyone else aggravated with lack of accountability?
lets go pavel replied to KronwallCRUNCH's topic in General
Agreed. Besides, who on our team has played so dreadfully that we need to call him out in public? Yes, we have some guys that need to tighten up and we have some guys that need to step up, but I don't see anyone taking a night off out there. Those talks need to happen in the locker room and on the bench, not in the media. -
It's not about having blind faith that your team will win no matter what, it's about rooting for your team regardless of their chances. Maybe people are different, but how do you root for your team while saying "we're going to lose"? Tuesday's game is daunting, but we can win it. It's going to be loud, and they're going to come out hard, but we've shown we can play with Anaheim, and we've shown we can beat them IN Anaheim. We can win this thing. This is not blind faith, just confidence.

Did you read this thread? Nobody here is pulling the "gee whiz, we tried, nothing to be ashamed of" card. Nobody (almost) here is giving up ... the posters in this thread are saying WE CAN WIN THIS. The team has exceeded expectations at every point this year ... we were picked to finish as a low seed for the playoffs - didn't happen. The majority of the experts picked us to lose to Calgary and SJ - didn't happen. And now people are writing us off again - guess what? Isn't going to happen. We've shown we can play and outplay the ducks, a few bounces here and there and you wouldn't even be posting here now, you'd be golfing, but that's the way it goes. It takes nothing away from the ducks, they are a good team and we've let them hang around to get those bounces instead of putting them away. No worries, we'll take care of business Tuesday.
