in honor of old Bob ... here's hoping he has a big game today ...

    Who came to play?

I agree with Lily and Cleary, both have been huge ... I think Flip deserves mention too ... for a rookie he has really stepped up, now logging serious minutes on the top lines and the PK ...

    Quincey?

i guess i thought he went down the tunnel earlier than that ... he may not be injured then. didn't seem like drapes, malts, and kopecky were out there much either, maybe babs decided to shorten the bench seeing as we were pretty much behind most of the game?

    Quincey?

I've got to think he was hurt ... he's been playing pretty well this series in my opinion, I can't imagine benching him after only 2 minutes of ice time ... that and what did he do to merit the benching? I don't remember anything disastrous from him. If anyone was going to be benched after 2 minutes it would have been Bert after that turnover (glad we didn't though!) ... plus if you head down the tunnel it's usually either equipment or injury ...

    Bertuzzi

didn't mean to imply he should be sarcastic, i agreed that he is improving in the offensive zone (see earlier post) ... but with getzlaf15 you never know if he's being sincere or trying to start s*** ...

    Sincerity or sarcasm?

    Bertuzzi

Yeah, passing in the defensive zone doesn't seem to be his strength. That said, he does seem to be - fingers crossed - finding his place in our offense. Yesterday he did seem to know when to get at the front of the net better than previous games, and hopefully that will continue. And I'm hopeful that some of the bigger hits and better skating will also pick up as he continues to get back into his rhythm.

Who plays the more physical game, Ducks or Wings?

I think the ducks rely more on hitting ... they have size, and it's part of their game. We don't have the size and don't need the physical element as much, we play more puck control. So in this sense, yes, they are more physical ... BUT ... from what I've seen, when the ducks run into a team that can take a hit and return a hit - like us - they have trouble. They're great when they are the physical team, but when both teams bring it and they lose that physically dominating presence/intimidation they don't seem to have much rhythm. This year we've done a great job adjusting to a physical game without letting it disrupt our style ... so in this sense we seem better suited to a 2-sided physical game.

Well you see, everyone knows that Pronger is tall and checks high, so everyone should know to duck -- if you have your head up and Pronger smashes it into the boards, that's your fault for not ducking. And if he rips your helmet off in the process, well, that's your own fault too -- everyone knows Pronger is strong, so you need to really fasten that lid on there (duct tape, velcro, industrial fasteners) and if you don't, it's your fault. Oh, and don't even try to say you didn't see him coming, because you should have looked. It's not Pronger's fault that you're looking the wrong way. So in conclusion, it's not Pronger's fault ... suspend Holmstrom.

    Ducks respond on hit.....

I'll tell you what it sounds like to me ... a team that's getting its excuses ready, a team that's preparing for defeat. To me, a captain needs to be focusing on the game ahead ... "well, it's a tough blow, but we need to move on and deal with the game at hand ... while we'd like to have him in the lineup, we're confident that we can still be effective, etc, etc ..."

WCF Game 2 (5/13): Ducks 4, Red Wings 3 OT

the game was called fair .... who cares ... at no point did they dominate ... we own this ... they can't hang with our top line ...

    Wings coaching advantage over Anaheim

i would say ... no. with technology as it is today, i'd say most teams are pretty prepared as far as tendencies, player skills, strategies, etc ... bottom line is you still have to play the guys, and you never know for sure what they'll do until they do it ...
