A letter to the NHL officials Association
puertoricanWingsfan replied to XxGoWingsxX's topic in General
I applaud you for being able to think clearly enough to write a letter after that travesty.... The only words I've been able to come with are not appropriate for children or daytime television -
what exactly is our playoff percentage so far against the ducks? aren't we something like 4 for 11?
-
is anyone really surprised that the Wings are getting s*** on by the media? seriously.
-
yeah everyone! Calm down! Listen, things could be a whole lot worse. We could be down 2-1 in a series that's being decided by the referees, two games away from the golf course and playing like s***! ... oh... wait... damn.
-
I hate the fact that they can't beat us without the refs. 1) the triple overtime winning goal should have been called off because of an OBVIOUS offside 2) the refs call a phantom penalty which ends up being the second goal, and subsequently, the GW of this game 3) the refs steal hossa's goal. I hate the fact that the Ducks are celebrating because of a team of ******* bozos wearing stripes.

WCSF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Ducks 2
puertoricanWingsfan replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I have no words. No words to describe how ******* pissed off I am right now. If we lose a game fair and square, ok. Shake hands and leave. I can handle losing to the other team. But to literally have a referee steal a vital playoff game... wow. -
they aren't allowed to review the goal because the play was called dead by the referees. Since it was a dead play, the goal is automatically disallowed. The Anaheim f***s got away by a technicality

Konstantinov was always one of my heroes growing up... I love this post. and furthermore, did ESPN really do a red wings story without any hatred??
-
I thought we lose all the time in OT because the Wings hate me? ... no? Maybe I'm nuts :looney:

It's like I always say: the power of the Red Wings offense is that everyone works within a system. Everyone plays a specific role, and work together as a unit. it's not a team led by one superstar. Hossa has been awesome within the system, showing the kind of player he is. Love him

ok... very true. I knew someone would bring that up You're right. But he made up for his own mistake! That was my point

Good Article from Toronto Star on Brown hit
puertoricanWingsfan replied to 12Newf's topic in General
good read... bump -
It's the same thing two years in a row. During the regular season, people act like Franzen is a liability, or not worth his pay. Then april comes along, and he's scoring clutch goals left and right. Is he ever gonna get the love he deserves?
-
According to my fiance, it's his rugged good looks... is she right? I mean... Perhaps!

Hossa hasn't shown up in the series? Jeeez, it's been one game for crying out loud. If this was game three and we hadn't heard a peep from him, that's different but goodness... Not even wayne gretzky scored in every playoff game he ever played. Hossa is innocent until proven guilty and as far as Zetterberg "not showing up:" did anyone happen to see the save that he made when our net was open? He may not have scored last night, but he saved a goal. Either way, that's one goal more in the wings favor at the end of the game.

Ok everyone, let's take the emotion out of this for a second and think logically. It's easy to be a homer (for either team) and just defend your player's action because they're your player. Instead, let's examine this with simple reasoning, Court room style, shall we? simple, objective analysis of the video shows the following: 1) a period of three seconds after hudler had passed the puck before getting hit 2) contact of either Brown's elbow, or stick, to Hudler's head. It is unclear which it was 3) a fair amount of blood coming from Hudler's face Items 1-3 cannot be denied, due to an exorbitant amount of video evidence. According to the NHL official rules, whether the contact was made by Brown's elbow or stick, both can result in major penalties and/or suspensions. Please see the following links, giving special attention to rules 46.1, 58.1 and 59.1: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26335 http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26350 http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26351 Thus, the case can be logically made that Brown's hit on Hudler can in fact be deemed worthy of further investigation and discipline. The prosecution rests its case. was Hudler skating with his head down? yes. dumb. He was asking to get hit. and I'm not sitting here saying that Brown is a thug, or that he intended to injure, or anything like that. Players can sometimes get caught up in the heat of the moment and simply and innocently react. But can you really say that it was a clean hit? c'mon

Detroit, Michigan is the murder capital of the United States. The Wings players have plenty of grit just from living there!

Round one MVP: Ozzie. Definitely. Oh, and Al Sobotka Favorite moment: without a doubt, Franzen's series winning goal in the final minute. I about killed my fiance cuz I was freaking out so much

I have one reason why I wouldn't want Crosby over Hossa: System. The beauty of the Wings offense is the system of role players as well as skill players fitting as cogs within a scoring machine. I'm gonna use a cheesy example, but remember in the movie Miracle when Herb Brooks is making his Olympic roster? His assistant coach questions him for passing up the "best" players. Brooks said, "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right ones." He intended to beat the "better" Russian skill players by using a system of role players. Sidney Crosby is not a role player. He's the bettman proclaimed God's Gift to Hockey. He's self centered, immature, whiny and cranky. The guy is one of the most incredible scorers to ever play the game, no doubt. But he's a selfish *****. Hossa on the other hand, is a great role player. He did so well with the Penguins because he played a role. He wasn't their savior. That was Cindy. The wings overall system is so much more powerful than one player. That's why we are a perennial power, that's why we're a permanent playoff team, and... oh yeah: that's why we beat Sidney Crosby's punk ass last year

Besides Canada, what country produces the best hockey players?
puertoricanWingsfan replied to a topic in General
How about Puerto Rico? Anyone? No? ...ok.... -
I don't know why we're all fighting about where Yzerman should be on the list, cuz we all know how incredible he was... what I'm wondering is: Where the hell are the Hanson brothers and Julie "The Cat" Gaffney?!?
