I expect to hear we sign Yashin to a 1 year $3.5 mil deal. That's my prediction.

I'd give him a 1 year deal, we need a proven scorer and he could revive his career here like most players do.

Holland: Free Agent Shopping is Probably Done

The only thing in our favor right now is we are in the weakest division of hockey, otherwise I'd be scared. I'm dissapointed if we don't add another solid veteran player before the season starts. I know we have the deadline in Feb. but I won't hold my breath. I just hope kenny doesn't let us down. -
it all makes sense now...

Ontario billionaire Jim Balsillie, who has a letter of agreement to buy the Nashville Predators for $220 million, has reactivated a lease agreement for rights to use Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, for an NHL team. Mayor Fred Eisenberger told the Hamilton Spectator that Balsillie "has assured me that he wants to secure a team and he is interested in bringing it to Hamilton." Would that make Wings fans feel better, playing a Canadian team instead of one from Nashville? OK, it wouldn't be the Leafs, but Hamilton is just outside Toronto. It's been speculated that Hamilton might be just a temporary home, with the team eventually moving a little farther out in the province, in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, where Balsillie is from. But it's all speculation, maybe wishful thinking. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has said it's premature to think the Predators will be moved. Even the sale would first have to be approved by the NHL board of governors. But that hasn't stopped people in Hamilton, which has long coveted an NHL team, from getting their hopes up. City councillor Tom Jackson, who sits on the NHL subcommittee, told the Spectator: "I wouldn't waste my time and effort on supporting this if I didn't think there was at least a legitimate opportunity this time around." -Detroit Free Press, June 01, 2007

Winnipeg could support a team, but the owner wanted to move the team regardless of the overwhelming suport the team had. As for Quebec, from what I understand, fans were very "eh, ok" whether they won or lost.

No team has the morale to come back and win game 6 after dominating games 4 & 5 and still comming up short. I truely believe this team is better than the Ducks of Ottawa and should have won the cup dspite injuries. Hopfully Dom can return next year in similar form and we can make another run at the cup. It's a real shame, we really deserved to win this series. Go Ottawa in the finals!

Who else is heartbroken, sad, and so angry at once?

I really believe that game 5, lady luck was not on our side and had we won that game, we very well could have had a awesome shot @ taking down ottawa in the finals, and what would have been better redemption for hasek than to beat the team that thought he gave up on them. a damn shame...

Yes I do. I am as big of a wings fan as they come, but I am also realistic. Fate is not on our side my friend.

Am I the only one that fears despite outworking the ducks this series, we'll lose the game tonight in heartbreaking fashion? I'm not trying to be negative, I just have a horrible gut wrenching feeling that hands will be shook tonight.

This isn't 02' against the Aves'. I don't seeu s winning game 6, not becuase they can't, but because emotionally they outplayed the Ducks all game and lost.
-
I can't imagine they can recover quick enough emotionally to win game 6. This isn't 02'

Good news is homer said at a press conference after the game that he is fine and was checked out to make sure he doesn't have a concussion and that he's good to play. thank the hockey gods

I'm not that confident yet. I love this team, and i see something special, but I have yet to see a game where I think at the end "no one will take us down this year." I think beating the Ducks in this series will really help ease our minds.

Alright, we all know Barry Melrose strongly dislikes the wings, mainly becuase we decided to go with Scotty Bowman in 1993 instead of him, however, I think it worked out pretty well for us, so get over it. The point of this is, so far, Melrose has picked against Detroit in every round, and we've won every round. He picked against us in Round 3 vs. the ducks, so hopefully this reverse luck will continue to work. (anyone recally him saying Flyers in 7 in 1997 and then in game for finally saying wings in 4?). 1st Round - Melrose: Flames in 7 Actual: Wings in 6 2nd Round - Melrose: Sharks in 6 Actual: Wings in 6 3rd Round - Melrose: Ducks in 6 Actual: ?????
