If you noticed, all NHL team sites are in the same format. The NHL probably passed along a memo REQUIRING all teams to conform to that site. Talk about internet communism huh? =)~

Former Washington Capital Pat Peake about his battle with mono a fractured larynx: "Yeah, [Chris] Pronger cross-checked me in the throat. I remember that now that you bring it up. I got slashed in the throat in St. Louis and had to spend four or five days there. And I had mono. I played 18 games with mono before I realized I had it. I remember Jack Button said, 'What the hell' what's the matter with you?' I said, 'I'm trying. I'm really trying." He said, 'Well, we're going to send you to Portland for the weekend.' It was the first time I had been sent down. He said, 'Go to the doctor, get your blood work, this and that, and go to Portland for the weekend and get your [act] together." the red color is probably the same, the picture probably just sucks.

The Hockey News: 4. Todd Bertuzzi to the Anaheim Ducks for two years and $8 million An admirable act of charity on GM Brian Burke's behalf? A savvy bet that a once-elite-level talent can be rejuvenated in relative anonymity? Evidence that even the best GMs in the business occasionally lose their minds long enough to work the fax machine? All I know is, bringing in one of the most notoriously dour, baggage-burdened players into the dressing room, and potentially losing good-guy leaders Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne, is exactly what I'd want to see if I worked for the Ducks & and was a spy for another NHL team. full link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?p...reenshots070730

Scouting Report: Dominik Hasek Posted by Ansar Khan July 23, 2007 06:00AM Categories: Scouting Reports With so much to prove last season, Dominik Hasek showed that he still has the drive to be the best, that he's still hungry for a championship and that he could avoid groin troubles that dogged him the previous two seasons. He'll head into what is likely his final season with the same questions. Will he still be motivated? And, can he make it through two straight seasons relatively healthy? Hasek was bitterly disappointed after the Wings loss to Anaheim in the Western Conference finals, feeling his club was better and should have won. He spoke like a man with unfinished business and believes this team will have just as good a chance to win the Stanley Cup next season. So there is little doubt he wants to win badly. But, what are the odds that a guy who turns 43 in January can once again make it through the season healthy? It wouldn't be such a bad thing if he missed some time in the regular season as long as he's healthy in the playoffs. Once again, the Wings will do what they can to minimize the risk by not overworking him and not playing him on consecutive nights. His legendary work ethic hasn't declined a bit and he's still as intense as ever. He's not as quick or as acrobatic as he was a few years ago, but on this team, with its puck control and strong defense, he's not going to face a lot of shots. Hasek is still one of the best goalies in the league and the Wings were fortunate he came back. Beyond his abilities, he brings a level of confidence that is contagious. His teammates know they have a goalie who won't fold under pressure in the playoffs, and that's huge.

Comparing all these is like comparing apples and oranges. However, think about it: Tigers saved us in the 60's when everyone else was bad (Lions, Pistons, Red Wings) The Pistons saved us at the end of the 80's when the others were bad The wings saved us in the mid 90's to the early 00's when everyone else was bad. Now we have 3 out fo 4 really great sports teams, how do you pick one?

Seeing this post made me very happy. I have been making some of the same points in here for a couple years that some of you already mentioned. The quality of ESPN has diminished significantly since 2000. One of the largest problems is they focus on sports gossip way too much. Also, no matter what sport they cover, only 8 teams will be seen on the network in any given sport. As for it's blond hair blue eyed child, that obviously is the NFL. ESPN spend hours talking about all the druggie loosers who get suspended in the NFL, the brawls in the NBA, and steroids in MLB, but hockey has the fewest off the playing field problems and it's still doesn't get credit. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. F**k off ESPN.

mlive.com: Devellano said there's no validity to a report in Russia's Sport Express newspaper claiming the Wings are interested in free-agent center Alexei Yashin. He's a talented player, but his effort and desire have been questioned throughout his career. "We have no interest in him -- I mean zero,'' Devellano said. "We would like a top-six winger, but there's nobody out there. We're going to hold the money. Who knows what might happen during the season. We're not going to sign guys we don't like. We'd like to have (defenseman) Danny Markov, but can't afford him. We're not going to panic.'' The Wings have between $4 million and $6 million in salary cap space, depending on whether they apply goaltender Dominik Hasek's performance bonuses (up to $2 million) to this season's salary cap or the following season's. -- making statements like "we're not going to panic" and "we'd like a top 6 player but there's nobody out there" after all that was available this offseason makes me feel like this is a nice way to say "whoops!' anyone else agree?

Since we have learned the Red Wings will be playing the Preds. on Thanksgiving and we know the Lions will be hosting the Packers, a burning question arises, who wins their game? I say the wings, with the lions skipping out of their game early to head down to the Joe.

Management practically admits offseason mistakes?

I support Kenny 110%, but I feel he waited a little too longer to address the forward situation. Do I want his head? - no Am I concerned about this season? - yes -
sorry, misread it, thanks for the heads up.

I love the new sharks logo. Similar design which looks more like a real team logo than a kids play toy. Good job with the design!

last off season season, it was the return of Greg Johnson this off season, it was the return of Dallas Drake With With Osgood and Hasek only being under contract for 1 more year, could we see a: Osgood/Essensa or Cheveldae/Osgood duo? have fun with this one guys.....
-
Reminds of a guy named...geez, what was it? Sergei Fedorov?
-
yes. More than Lindros
-
Either that or working at the Beer Store in Northern Ontario.
-
who is left on the market you would take over Yashin? Lindros? Injured Foresberg? Kenny gambled and lost on a top 6 forward up to this point, he can't go into the season without adding another Top 6 type guy. If we were rebuilding, we wouldn't have brought in Hasek and signed Rafalski. We are playing to win while rebuilding. The only way to do that sucessfully is to have veterans in the locker room. As much as I like Hudler, Fillpula, etc. they need mentorship.
-
I can't believe: Bob Essensa played 5 games in 2001-02 with the Sabres. I can believe: he lost all 5 games.
-
I'd take him for $3.5 mil/1 year deal. wings will probably give him $4. I'd take him over Lindros and will be cheaper than Foresberg
-
I support him comming to detroit 110% Ironic though because he was 1 of the players rumored to becoming to Detroit from Ottawa in the Yzerman deal from the mid 1990's
-
According to the Detroit Free Press: "Including prospect Igor Grigorenko in the equation, the Wings now have 13 forwards. Still, they’ll continue to seek an offensive forward to shore up the two top lines. Drake can be sent to Grand Rapids if needed, seeing as it’s unlikely he’d get picked up off waivers."
-
Signing Yashin would be a great deal. He's the best guy left on the market next to Shanahan and going into the season with him would be better than going into it without him. We need a scoring veteran and he could provide us with that touch.

I'm amazed at some of the people that write on these boards. there seems to be two types of posters on the LGW forums: 1.) those who play NHL07 too much. 2.) those who understand the logic of hockey outside the rink as a business. Sometimes I read what some people write and just think "are you serious? did you just say that?" go wings.
