I woke my dad up to watch the last few min because he never lost faith and lectured me about having doubts in the Wings after game 3. However, we played like s*** in the first 2 periods...that's not bandwagoning, that was calling it like it is until the switch was re-flipped.

LIDS!

Seriously, that was the most obvious, ridiculous dive yet. How do you try to get away with that and still play with any dignity? At least it got called.

I haven't gone, but I know people who enjoy it and have used it for the last couple years.

I agree, I was trying to get the double quote, but messed up. I was replying to the guy who was agreeing with the person who called 7 octopi/game 'extreme'. 7/game is really nothing. and it's not about wanting 'internet attention'. people want to participate. 7/2066 is just that.
-
Out of 20,066 people that could be throwing them, I don't think 7 is really that bad, as long as they're being thrown at appropriate times. It's not like all those people coordinate before the game. What are the other 6 people gonna do after the first is thrown? Just keep the octopi strapped to them and take it home for next time?
-
I totally agree with this. It seems, though, the cooperative parties were usually in other arenas. I'm with everyone who is calling for octopi rain tomorrow.

My friends and I have thought Trotz looks like Krang from TMNT for years. I used to have a photoshop of it haha.

I love Down Goes Brown! There's a [poor] screen grab on the facebook page. Someone changed Ritola's Wiki for a minute and they got a pic of it. It's since been removed.

Here as well!

The Greektown Player's Card is free, too. I don't gamble much but I use it for parking every time I go downtown. Parking is free but sometimes they charge if some other event is going on or during the playoffs without it. You just have to run into the casino and validate your parking, sometimes, though. No questions asked, just a machine. There will be big signs outside the entrances if they are charging. Also, just a suggestion/thought for the board...I'm not complaining at all, I always try to contribute to these, but we seem to get them pretty consistently. I was just thinking that all of us could contribute and break down a big list of ideas/suggestions/hotels/directions for coming to games downtown and the surrounding areas (troy/airport/royal oak/hamtramck/ferndale, etc) and pin it somewhere, so everyone can always have an idea on hand. I was just thinking that since someone else said they had the same question, and we all try to be super accommodating, but not all of the great suggestions make it into every thread, one big list could be fun and helpful. I'd be happy to take the suggestions and make and detail that list if anyone else thinks it's a good idea.

I'm with everyone on the Greektown vote. Free parking, cheap People Mover rides. I make my habit out of parking there and eating at the Parthenon or Pizza Papalis and then going to the game. Afterward, we sometimes go to Mosaic's on the corner for drinks. As someone said, Hockeytown Cafe and Cheli's are "across town", but I've walked there from the Greektown garage MANY times, not usually if it's really cold, though. Also, I'm not sure, but doesn't Hockeytown have a shuttle, or is that just during the playoffs?

This! LOL I didn't get to watch the game, but saying that O'Halloran gives preference to the Wings is beyond laughable.

A bunch of smaller rock and metal bands. The one I went to Ace's with was Soil. And I agree on Miracle, I'll stand my ground on that one. I have a couple movies on my hard drive for when my internet goes out here at school and Miracle is the one I always watch. I wasn't alive for the real thing, but I don't think I could ask for a movie like that to be done any better. I think I'll watch it again now! haha Oh and as far as the Kevin Smith movie, I heard he got funding for another movie first and the hockey one will come right after. And as a lot of people have said they aren't completely excited for it...I like some of his movies, but not all. Definitely an odd choice to picture him directing and writing a hockey film, but you can tell he has a passion for the sport and wants to do it justice. I have faith that as a true fan, he'll do it right. The one interview where he said he'd never been allowed on the ice before, Detroit was his first time, and how awesome that was...I'm putting my faith in this movie because of his inner hockey nerd, not his past works.
-
Very true, I watched that on Netflix Instant last night, actually. Miracle is still by far my favorite, though. I worked for touring bands for a couple of years and we actually got to play at Ace's a couple of times. Let me say. I LOVE Ace. I did merch in a wedding veil that he gave me one night. Amazing experience!!
-
Chalk me up with Miracle being my favorite. As far as this already being labeled "Best Hockey Movie" makes me skeptical...What is it? The terms of Kevin Smith's movie with Mitch Albom already require it to be shot here, right? So what's this all about? Excuse me for only scanning over this... "Karate Kid on ice"?

Beat me to it and said it way better than I was going to. Thank you. Thank You. THANK YOU. The COMPLETELY BLIND support of whatever the refs say is disgusting. And to the guy that said he's a ref and it's a hard job even in the minors, I have no doubt! I would honestly say that the minor leagues would make your job even harder! Yes mistakes can be made, and are made, but when you're in the minors do you have 47 angles, instant replay and a War Room to help you make the right decisions on your calls? There is no excuse for bulls*** calls being backed 100% blindly in a league like the NHL. Especially in the frequency we have been seeing. And I have a terrible connection so I made this reply as I saw this post, before reading the rest of the thread. So, if I basically repeated someone else, I apologize.

My friend has a radio show on the Oakland University campus every Monday evening from 6-8. I can't believe I didn't think to post here sooner, but they are going to have Jim Nill on today. If you have any questions you want to/want them to ask him, you can listen live online and all the information is at the following link: http://www.wxou.org/ I'm really not trying to plug his show, I just thought some of you would be interested or have questions you might want to get asked. Sadly, I'm gonna have to listen to a recording later, hope some of you enjoy

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?
Nic replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Female fan, die hard. My friends and I even have a tradition that all playoff games MUST be watched by certain people in my basement. One of those moved to Florida this year (feel free to blame him for the loss, we do). Almost all of my guy friends, funny enough, hate sports and make fun of my for my hockey obsession. I was at a bar during the playoffs (after we were eliminated) and there was a fight on tv and the bartender said something about fighting being banned in the playoffs. I corrected him citing that it's only banned for instigation during the last 5 minutes of a game and everyone around me was like 'holy s***' hahaha I mean it's common knowledge to all of us, but to non-sports fans...I thought it was funny anyway. Also when I was living at home my mom got pissed and yelled 'When did your room turn into JLA?! Stop screaming at the TV they can't hear you!!' -
While I agree that 'masterfully' was overstretching, In a commonplace fan's perspective, it means more. For those of us who are lucky to catch a handful of actually attended games in a lifetime and can follow the puck and see jersey numbers from the 'nosebleeds'...the Joe's construction is appreciated, while the perception of the proposed idea...not quite. Also, your ideas come closer to 'masterfully'. Just saying. You keep a fan's perspective in mind. no brown nosing here.
