That is SOOO crazy that you mention that. A few days ago me and my hockey buddy were talking and I was talking to him about how I would LOVE to put a sensor along the goal line and then another along the bottom of the crossbar. And then put something in the hockey puck so that if there was ANY question they could use some kind of imaging in TO to see if it is TRULY a goal. Too bad I'm not smart enough to do that kinda s***. I'm just surprised with all the technology we have today the NHL couldn't do SOMETHING with sensors, as you mentioned Tennis has cyclops!

I would go with Jagr truthfully though, Z for sure

Oh my god... Lebda our 2nd unit d-man? Please god no. If Stuart leaves, we need someone with a physical presence to take over his spot. Sorry, but I love Lebda and all with his great speed (which he STILL does not understand how to use) and being an american born player and all, but the kid has a long way to go to be a 2nd unit d-man.

Wow, you guys all REALLY need to get over it. Osgood did it on purpose, put your fan-boy bias aside! Ribiero is a complete f'n moron for retaliating! All he did was make our guys even more fired up. So, anyone who think Osgood shouldn't have been fined... you are truly blind. So now what... its over! GET OVER IT! p.s. I won't be back to see if I get any responses to don't bother... take this as it is.

You know guys, the more and more I watch the Crosby play, I honestly think that he almost knew that Biron was gonna play the pass and threw it towards the net. I mean, if that was a pass, it has to be the worse pass I've ever seen! It looked to me as if he were throwing it on net just to get a shot in before the 5-3 ended. (I'm pretty sure it already ended by that time though)
-
Yea, as much as everyone KNOWS its a goal... the guys made the right call! Not much you can do about it!
-
THANK GOD! I am so sick of hearing about the Ozzie thing that this place is kinda getting a bit annoying. Especially now that its over, if I were Matt I would honestly lock all the related topics. Its getting out of control. Anyways, thank you for making a post thats intelligent and has nothing to do with last game! You the man!
-
I'll give ya that, no doubt it took a bad bounce off a Flyer, but still when sliding over he's gotta atleast keep that left pad/skate right up to the post. Biron could've played that better, none the less the bounce didn't help.
-
I'm sorry guys, but it is SO annoying to try and post comments in here when you have so many people with posts like: wooo! 1-0. 1-0 pens pens scored pp goal, crosby Guys, no offense, BUT WE KNOW! Most of us are watching the game, for those that can't and have to rely on the thread, they'll get the hint when one of us makes a comment (Like NFM did). Sorry, just my rant. Anyways, what I was gonna say was what an ugly goal. Biron cannot play the pass. I have a feeling the Pens are gonna expose Biron much more than the Caps and Habs could.

Some of you people are seriously the most irrational and most biased people I have ever dealt with. Funny thing is you all say s*** about Melrose (I hate the guy just as much here) for being so biased when most of you are the exact same way! Now, from a true hockey fans stand-point... And yes, I am a die-hard Wings fan (but have the ability not to be a fan-boy and see both sides of the story).. What Osgood did was stupid, and if you truly think he didn't do it on purpose, you're blinded by your man love for our goalie. Now, was it stupid? Yes. But doesn't every goalie do this type of s***? Ummmm, absolutely. If anything, he's much smarter than Turco cause he covered it up, made it look like he was just moving his arm. As opposed to Turco blatently hacking and whacking at our guys. Which is EXACTLY why all you're little stupid "ozzie should be suspended" comments are absurd. He make it look so unintentional that there is no way the league is gonna make a judgement call and say they "THINK he tried to get his stick in Ribiero's face". Just not gonna happen, now get over it! Now, I am sitting here telling you all (Wings and Stars fans) that what Ozzie did was stupid and wrong. HOWEVER, does that justify what Ribiero did? HELL NO! Do you think that Bertuzzi just felt like jumping some guy from behind one day? NOPE! That whole Bertuzzi thing went back games before where the guy hit some guy and Bertuzzi thought it was a cheap shot. Now if you have played hockey you will certainly know that often its not the initial action that gets called, its the RETALIATION that gets caught. What Ribiero did was selfish to his team and certainly worthy of a single game suspension. Guess what people, there's little shots that go back and forth ALL GAME LONG! What do the smart players do about it? Nothing. They just play the game. What do little ******* who can't fight or are getting dominated do? They swing their freaking stick at the persons chest. So, to sum this up... Wings fans, PLEASE get off Ozzies ball-sack. What he did was stupid and very intentional. To the Stars fans, you have to be the biggest morons if you truely think that what Ozzie did jusified someone swinging a hockey stick at his throat area. Then again, I'm sure most of you people who are totally biased one way or the other have never really played competitive hockey!

And you've officially become the most idiotic person in this thread! Congrats!

I'll tell ya what... anyone who thinks that the VS. broadcasters have been "just fine" or doing a okay job is completely idiotic. First off, I'm not saying that we should put Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels in there, but my god I don't think they talked about the Red Wings ONCE during the game. As I've said before, it is NEVER what Detroit is going right, its always what Dallas is doing right or what Dallas is doing wrong. My father, who never reads into this kinda crap too much and never comments was even laughing at how much these guys seemed to (in his words) 'wanna WILL Dallas to win that game'. Again, I don't want anyone to favor Detroit or make them seem like the only team out there, but why can't the VS. announcers ever just admit that we won because we flat out outplayed them. I guess the thing that really bugs me about it, is I hardly ever sit there and say "ohhhh, the NHL wants Detroit to lose, Melrose hates us, Don Cherry hates us, lets have a big pity party" because in the end what Barry Melrose says doesn't really affect me. But to actually have to sit down and watch a full game listening to, what have to be the 5 BIGGEST ******* idiots when it comes to hockey really pisses me off. I wish I would've known the game was on CBC, I would've GLADLY watched the CBC guys, they actually have a clue of what they're talking about. Now, I'm going to e-mail VS. and see if I can get thru to any of those f***in idiots somehow!
-
Wow, where the hell have some of you been? The NHL said they would issue a $10,000 fine if Al swung octopi around. He did. He might not get fined because it was in the "zamboni entrance" or wherever but it could still happen. NOW, with that said... yes, Cherry was saying that he'll probably get fined for doing it but how the HELL does that make him an "*******"? Some of you guys really need to clam down.

I absolutely agree with everything you said... I really noticed it in the first series against Nashville. Hell, I even sent a short letter to Ross McKeon (of Yahoo! NHL) just to see if it would get any reaction. Pretty sure I mentioned something on here too. Funny thing is, I KNEW the media would be saying how Dallas got horrible calls against them, Holmers goal shouldn't have counted, etc. before the game was even over. Honestly though, I could care less. Let the doubters doubt and the haters hate. All I truely care about is the Wings hoisting the Stanley Cup, cause at that point in time, there's not enough excuses in the world to prove that Detroit shouldn't be holding the Cup above their heads. And honestly, thats ALL it boils down to. If Detroit can hoist the Cup, every media "expert and analyst" will eat CROW and have to say how much they "deserved" to be the Cup Champions!

Has anyone heard if he's alright. Definitely a great, clean hit. I kept rewinding it and listening to the huge 'THUD'. Sounded like his head bounced off his shoulder pad. Truthfully tho, I'm very curious as to if he's okay or what ended up happening. I figured it was just a concussion but when they showed him hardly walking in the back I got a little worried.
-
Thats my point... Again, if you watch VERY carefully in slow motion, you can literally see Z looking for the puck and finding where its going. After being checked and getting turned around he see's where the puck's gonna be a throws a shot on net. Again, anyone who thinks it was a lucky goal really does not understand how to play the game of hockey very well.
-
egh, sold out does NOT mean everyone actually SHOWS UP! They can sell out all playoffs but there is definitely not a full arena packed in there. Kind of frustrating considering all these business people have lower bowl tickets and just don't go! as for the sea of red, good GOD i'll never understand why the Wings people don't do this. my girlfriend was commenting on how incredible it was while I was watching a Calgary game. she couldn't believe how cool it was.
-
Anyone who thinks Z's goal was luck or accident has zero hockey skill and has never understood how to play the game of hockey. To break it down, if you look REALLY closely he shot the puck then looks REALLY QUICK to where the rebound is coming. This is NOT COINCIDENCE PEOPLE! my GOD.

Just stop. You're digging yourself a huge hole. You made yourself look stupid, dont try to start petty arguments now. (from a Simpsons episode, where they're digging for a treasure. Chief Wiggum: "dig up stupid")

This will be the only time you'll ever hear me say it... But I wouldn't mind (I was gonna say hope, but I would NEVER hope) if the Wings lost tonight. Only for the simple fact that I have a Wings party planned for Saturday. Bunch of family and friends are coming over to watch the game on our big-screen. Plus, I wouldn't mind them getting rid of the Avs on home ice. And, I don't want to sweep the Avs and have San Jose make some kind of come back and go seven so that way we're not sitting for too long. Regardless, I think they close it out tonight, the Wings are unbelievable when they have the chance to knock off an opponent. 4-2 Wings!

Wow, finally someone with some common sense. Its freaking Holmer, all he does is make jokes! I really don't think he was sitting there going thinking "calling Z 'Shasha' would REALLY be a great nickname."

Ever since Pavel emerged as a top player with the Wings, something about him drew me into watching him in particular while on the ice. I think most of it had to do with the fact that when I was little I tried to play his same style of hockey. I was always the smaller kid out there so I'd have to be quicker than others, I loved to make those quick moves and was always brought up that a strong play followed by an assist is far more important than some guy dunking all your hard work into an open side of the net. At 24 I still play hockey, mostly roller now, so now more than ever I try to watch Pav and imitate his play. To me, maybe except for AO, I see no one as fun to watch in the league as Pav. And while I watch these playoff games, it sickens me to see so many empty seats at the Joe, especially in the lower bowl area. And regardless of the economy and ticket prices, I feel very strongly that people in Detroit have no one to relate to like they did when it was Yzerman and Shanahans team. Now people hear names like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Krowwall, etc and I truely think it turns some people off to the game (which is why I wish they could get some more N.A. players on the squad, but thats a total different story). So when I read an article like this is rather upsets me that people only see Dats as a russian on the Wings, when thats the type of player we really should be idolizing around here. To have a superstar in Pav, yet he's able to keep himself so humble is something that should be adored by Wings fans. It's really ashame this article couldn't have made it to the Free Press or Detroit News. To me, Pav is a true example of what every hockey player should strive to be. (ok, that might've been a little bit too much man love for this thread... lol)

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...
This Is Bida replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
You are one hundred and fifty percent absolutely right. Which is exactly why I hope they sweep their way to the Finals only the play us and get swept by us. Now wouldn't that be like the BEST thing ever? (or funniest... probably both)
