I think it's a great list. There's that Yzerman goal I'd add with him falling and and roofing the puck... think it was against the Blackhawks. Other than that I can't disagree with much but I will say I'm glad to see Feds get some recognition. He had some absolutely BEAUTIFUL goals as a Wing!

You hope the league reviews what? It was a very awkward situation where Hossa got hit and then another player accidentally hit his head. There was no bad play. It was pure accidental. The only thing they would review is the Cleary hit. OHH, and whats with some stupid Wings fans CHEERING while Thornton was on the ground? I pray they were cheering at something else but it seemed pretty classless to me!

Thank you! This is why stats can be very manipulative, and thank you for not getting blinded by stat numbers. Like you said, Kronwall is 100% so maybe he should center our second line! The guys proved his own point. He said that Huds had taken just as many draws as Hossa. That right there just goes to show you how FAR from a true center Hudler is. You can hope and pray for Huds to be a center all you want, but if the Wings haven't made him into one yet, he's not going to be by the time the playoffs roll around. With that said, do I think they need to do SOMETHING with the 2nd line? Absolutely! Franzen and Hossa do not mesh together at all. Hossa needs a set up man and Franzen is obviously not that. Flip has just looked lost all season. He can't score and his passing seems really sad for a center. I did think that Huds and Hossa had GREAT chemistry so they need to somehow put that back together.
-
my god... you guys are forgetting the biggest thing... Flip will be traded for picks (to clear up cap space) before the deadline

What do you mean? Crosby and Malkin (Hossa used to) show JUST as much enthusiasm after scoring goals. Well, maybe not AS much but damn near close to. You see Crosby or Malkin score big goals and they go slamming into the boards all the time, screaming at the fans. Truthfully, it's something I like about all 3 of those players. Like I said last page, there's nothing I hate more than football players making a simple tackle and going off and freaking out like they just won the Super Bowl on their own. This is not what Ovie, Malkin, Hossa or Crosby are doing. They're showing passion and there is nothing wrong with that. It's something Hossa has kind of stopped doing and I miss it. I wish he'd go back to being more passionate when he scored and I wish Dats would take after Ovie in that aspect a little more.
-
You know it's funny cause I started a thread a while ago about how I loved Hossa passion that came out when he scored goals. Much like Ovechkin or Malkin. It seemed like every single poster in that thread agreed that they loved the passion. That is what I see when I see Ovechkin. It's not a basketball or football type of taunting and cockiness. It's more of a desire to win. It's a passion for scoring goals and helping your team win games. Truthfully, I'd love to see Datsyuk take some of that "cockiness" with him when he scores goals like Ovie or Hossa does (or should I say used to). You can tell it's just not a Red Wings thing though. Hell, look at Hossa, even he's kind of lost that flair after scoring goals. Now after he scores a goal he just turns around and looks for his teammates. If I saw Ovie pulling out Sharpies and pulling dumb sh*t out of his hat just to be an assh0le than yes, I would agree. There is nothing I hate more than watching a football player accidentally tripping the QB and then going around like he just won the Super Bowl all on his own.... But I just don't see that in Ovie.

He obviously didn't read but a single PART of the conversation that we had in which EVERY ONE said that Franzen's a good player, but he is NOT the right center for Hossa! Some people just jump to conclusions at the worst times like idiots
-
P.S. that was the most brutal last minute of a game I have EVER seen!
-
Helm makes plays happen too. He'll take that check just to get off a good pass!
-
I'd gladly take Helm centering Hossa over freakin Franzen. I don't wanna sound like I don't like Franzen but with all the great passers on this team, Franzen just ain't one. And Hossa needs a set up man. Franzen will never be a set up man.
-
It's all taken care of. Got a friend who lives right by the arena in Minnesota, he's a hitman. Just called him. Soon as Howard exits the arena he's gonna shank him 'Assassins Creed' style so we'll never have to worry about him again!
-
For the love of F*CK sake... anyone else agree that they need to SOMEHOW split up Mule and Hossa? Put Mule on the 3rd line or something but it's just horrible. Hossa needs a center who can actually FEED him the puck. Not just someone who skates around stick handling here and there, throws a blind pass here or there. GIVE THE MAN A CENTER!!!

Yeeaaa, it's not that I don't have hope for the Wings to always make a comeback but GOD do the Wild play that boring trap hockey b.s. THAT is why I don't see a comeback. As soon as it was 2-1 I knew the Wild would go into trap mode. There should really be a penalty or something for such boring hockey. Lamaire (however you spell his name)... I hope you BURN for implementing the trap

What I was saying is that this isn't my first and only time watching Howard play. I've seen him play damn near all his games in a Winged Wheel including games for the Griffins. He might have looked "okay" last year but he has NEVER looked "good" by any means. He has never looked like the next coming of Ryan Miller that they hoped he would be. I've never even seen a glimmer of hope from this kid. Not trying to be a dick. Some people hope and pray he'll pan out. The rest of us realist realize he's not an NHL caliber goalie and won't be anytime soon for the Wings.
-
ah-hahahahhahaha... thats hilarious! Truthfully, I'm not saying all these goals have been Howards fault but this kid will NEVER be an NHL caliber goalie. Atleast not while he's in a Wings uniform. It's like Babcock said the other night... He sees all these young kids in goal: Ryan Miller Steve Mason Jonathan Quick Etc Etc... So why not give our young kid a shot and see what he's got. Well sorry Babs, and all you hopeful Howard enthusiasts but Jimmy is just not NHL material. Oh and I'm definitely not just basing this on tonights performance. Obviously these back-to-back home and away games kill us but it's not like he has even really made one GOOD solid save yet? We're going into the 3rd here. I'd gladly let Howard go next year. I wouldn't even want him as our back up.

I'm sorry but you guys all say that Hossa always said he loved Pittsburgh and how he wanted to stay... I just wanna clear something up really quick: First off, of COURSE he's gonna say he likes it in Pittsburgh. When have you ever heard a player say anything like "Oh, I hate this damn city. May it burn to ashes while I'm in another city". Just because he said he liked the city doesn't mean he is saying "I wanna come back and play for the Pittsburgh Penguins next year". Secondly, Hossa never ever EVER said anything about wanting to stay, or wanting to even PLAY in Pittsburgh. Hossa told the media that he much more prefers playing on a Cup contending team and if that means taking less money, he'd rather take less money. Now the idiots in Pittsburgh all thought this meant "I'd rather play for a great team like Pittsburgh and I'll gladly take less money to play here in Pittsburgh". Again, no player is gonna say he absolutely hates the town he is playing in. Now with that in mind. There is a huge huge difference between him saying he liked Pittsburgh (where he was FORCED to play through a trade) and saying how much he LOVES to play here in Detroit when he took a one year contract for a few million less than he could have had. Truthfully, he probably did like playing in Pittsburgh, but I can guarantee you he absolutely loves playing in a Wings jersey 10X more. You wanna read a good article, click on the link in my post! It's well worth it. As for who Hossa should stay with, truthfully I'm definitely in the minority here but I loved him and Datsyuk together. Too many people like the Euro Twins much better tho. So if it couldn't be Dats, all I know is I'd love to see Hossa (if he... scratch that.. WHEN he stays) stay with Hudler on a line. As long as you have a center who can dish it to him in the high slot, it's not that big of a deal. Him and Hudler though were very fun to watch play together the other night... I think it was the game before Columbus. Those two definitely feed well off each other.

Notice I fixed the quote. I accidentally first quoted you which is what ben what referring to. After fixing the quote it was actually ChrisDetroit who said he would demand 8million plus. Regardless, I'm with dallas27. I've been saying that Hossa will gladly take another paycut to stay long term in Detroit but SO many people either never THOUGHT he would come back or simply didn't WANT him to come back. Now everyone seems to have jumped on the bandwagon. As he said, it would be nice to quote everything everyone has said to doubt us and Hossa signing but truthfully, Hossa signing long term will be gratitude enough for me!
-
Yea, I first read this over at PuckDaddy's blog. He said something about the Wings oranization making Hossa drink their kool-aid 'temple of doom style' to say that he would take less to sign with Detroit and for him saying Datsyuk is the best all around player in the world right now. Normally, I just read the blog and see if there's any news going on but I just had to comment today. The guy obviously never watches any Wings games (he's not a huge fan of the Wings) so I asked him how he would ever know if Datsyuk was the best all around player. I asked if he'd rather have AO, Malkin or Crosby rather than Dats out their on a 5-3 in game 7 of the Finals with 2 minutes to go. What's funny is that SO many people backed Datsyuk up and said he probably is the best all around player. He might not have the offensive upside like AO, Malkin or Crosby does but his defensive play far surpasses theirs. As far as an all around dangler, no one competes and when it comes to playmaking, well, only Thronton and maybe Crosby are up there. It truly shows how much higher he (Hossa) thinks Datsyuk is that anyone else he's ever played with ::cough:cough::Crosby::cough:cough::
-
haha, I actually quoted the wrong person anyways. It's fixed now. The guys claims to KNOW that Hossa will demand atleast 8million. Hmmm, doesn't seem like much of a discount that he's talking about taking now?

Looks like I found it: Posted November 15th, 2008 Looks like I might not be that far off... Oh and I found this a little funny from a few months back:
-
Oh I love it! Me and you think exactly alike. Ever since the beginning I said we need to focus on keeping Hossa and so many board members said 'hell no, Franzen is top priority. Hossa is for sure gone after this year". As for who to sign first, I truly think you NEED (and they will) sign Hossa first. He is the top priority now that Z has signed. As much as I love Mule it would be much easier to lose him down the road that losing Hossa all because you signed Franzen first. As for me, my hopes are completely topped out! They can't get any higher to resign Hossa. If he doesn't come back, will I boo him at the arena and hope he dies like every piece of s*** Pens fan? Absolutely not. No matter what I hope Hossa has an amazing career. I just also hope its with the Red Wings organization! Oh, and I wish I knew which member it was but someone has me quoted in their Sig with: "Hossa will retire a Red Wing. I guarantee that!" that I posted many many months ago when everyone was saying he'd never be back. Looks like I might not have been too wrong, huh?
-
I was the one who called his agent 'money grubbing' and yes, it was probably a bad choice of words. Do I think we all could have seen Franzen turning in to this goal scorer that he is today? Ummm, nope! Truthfully, I have a hard time believing anyone thought he would be at the level he is today. If you say you truly thought that years ago, you're just lying to yourself. With that said, it is very logical thinking to assume that Franzen could demand upwards of 5mill or more. Look at how many GM's throw money around to guys they hope to be big stars. You can't tell me there's not some GM in the NHL right now that wouldn't easily throw Franzen 6 million, cause I'm sure there's more than one. The thing is, I like Franzen as a Wing. I really do. But pound for pound, Hossa clearly throws his body around more and uses his size better than Franzen. If Franzen could learn to use his size more (like his coaches seem to have been telling him since he's been a Wing) I think he could be even better than he is now. Just watch Hossa as he's one on one along the boards, coming into the zone. He'll just bank the puck off the boards and as a guy goes to get in his way he easily pushes them aside. Protecting the puck is the exact same thing too! I guess I'm just hoping what the media is saying is correct and that more of the attention is going towards Hossa and that he's willing to sign for less than Zetterberg. Truthfully, thats great news to me. And if it meant losing Flip, Kopy, Sammy, Lebda or even Franzen (whether it be free agency or thru trades) (and I'm not saying losing ALL of them, just one or two) than I would truthfully just be happy to keep Hossa around and see Abds, Helmer and Leino playing in a Wings jersey
-
I don't think anyone answered your question so I'll answer it for you. Detroit couldn't offer Hossa a contract extension until January 1st. Obviously, now that it's past, we can sign Hossa as soon as they make a deal (which I'm praying to god is sooner rather than later and way before they make a deal with Franzen)
-
I'm asking you a serious question here, not just trying to be a prick but do you truthfully think Franzen will sign for much less than 6? I just don't! The absolute lowest I see Franzen and his money grubbing agent signing for is around 5.0-5.25 (I also might be taking your post way wrong. To me your post seems to be saying "if we sign Hossa we lose Franzen and some others as opposed to signing Franzen and ONLY losing Hossa." If that's not what you meant, I apologize and you can totally disregard my comment.)

Ya know whats funny, I stopped over at the Pensblog to see what they had to say about todays game and under the comments, majority of them were all the same talking. "Oh my god, Pierre loves the Red Wings", "he wants Red Wings cum all over his face", etc. Every fan thinks that their team is not favored on NBC. It's not just us Red Wings fans. Anyways, I'm not saying they don't CONSTANTLY talk about Crosby but todays game was not that horrible, especially compared to the Finals last year. Every fan thinks that the NBC commentators want their team to lose. That's just how it is!
