    Hossa to Sign Soon?

Man 'o' Man! I would totally love to go back to a post I made in the not too distant future asking everyone if they thought we should resign Hossa or Franzen first. Probably a good 90% of the people said Franzen is the better option. Many thought he was the "far better option" saying things like "I like Hossa but after this year he can be gone!". I'm really not trying to rub it in here, but like I've heard in the media here in Detroit many times, I think Hossa is just now started to catch on with people. I think that's clearly true if you read these boards. Many people really wanted Hossa gone after this year and now many people are praying he comes back. Oh, and I can see the delusion many people had of us signing Franzen for half of what we could sign Hossa for is finally (thank god) gone! Truthfully, now that Zetterberg is locked up and it's been made very clear that Holland wants to sign one player before the playoffs, I would think both players would be giving it their all on (and off) the ice to make Holland favor one over the other. Truthfully, I think that is EXACTLY what Hossa is doing while Franzen has been a no-show the past couple games. He's scored a goal here or there but he's by far not the factor that Hossa is on the ice night in and night out. Again though, as I always say, it's probably just my long time love for Hossa that might be making me a little biased. I guess I just see it one way, if the deal is long-term (long enough for Hossas liking atleast), I could easily see Hossa taking a paycut (around 6million) to stay here in Detroit and retire with a wealthy life ahead of him. On the other hand I see a player who wanted too much money than he deserved years ago in Franzen who will probably want close to 5-6 million from the Wings organization. I would happily take Hossa for 6million over Franzen for 4.5-5million P.S. I just wanted to also comment and say how happy I was for Hossa to score a goal this afternoon and shut up all those ******-bag Pens fans up! You could see that fire in his eyes when he scored. Chanting "traitor... traitor". Seriously? How is he a traitor when he never wanted to play in Pittsburgh in the first place? Yea, THAT makes sense? By far some of the most delusional fans I've ever witnessed in Pro Sports.

OHHHH, and I forgot, the whole reason I came upstairs to post this comment... I wish I could stab every single Pens fan in the eyeball with a pencil for booing Hossa everything he touches the ice. Is every Pens fan SERIOUSLY that pathetic? This guy didn't CHOOSE to play in Pittsburgh, he didn't WANT to play for the Pens. He came to where he WANTED to play, here in Detroit. Stop booing him you ******-bags. my GOD!!!

Not much room for Zetterberg and Hossa

I got to the part where the writer said "Hossa is still looked at as an outsider" or something to that effect. Seriously? If anything I think Hossa has never felt so 'at home' in his career. If Hossa is gone next year, so be it. But truthfully, I think there's a really good chance he signs for a discount and he stays here in Detroit. He loves everything about the Wings organization and people here are dillusional enough to think Franzen will sign for 3-4 million. Not gonna happen! Truthfully, I don't see Hossa as an 'outsider', let alone going anywhere. Who knows, maybe it's just me hoping!

    Keeping "The Big 3"

Lets say this one more time for the people who do not understand... Chances are Hossa would sign long term here for a huge discount. Better chances are that Franzen won't sign for a dime less than ATLEAST 5 million. This whole dillusion for Franzen signing for 3-4 million is truly funny to me... Go back a page and read Drakes post about the Mule signing!

    Keeping "The Big 3"

Oh my god THANK YOU! I tried to make this point in my original post but I don't think it came out right at all and focused too much on Hossa. It's like everyone on here is quick to think we'll sign the Mule for 2-3 million and Hossa won't take anything less than 7. This is an absolute money year for Franzen and how do we know he's not the exact OPPOSITE of Hossa and would rather have the money over the organization? So, now that reality has been brought up and people's dreams of signing Franzen for under 4-5 million is done with... If you could have either Franzen or Hossa, and they both asked for the exact same amount (Hossa possibly taking a little bit less than Franzen)... NOW who would you rather have? Personally, and again it's probably just me being biased, but I'd rather have Hossa for the same/a little less money than Franzen. Then again, maybe we've forgotten that Hossa was probably the 2nd or 3rd best player in last years play-offs only to Franzen and Z. Is Franzen still as hungry for a Cup now that he has one? Especially as hungry as Hossa obviously is? I'll say it one last time but I think you're underestimating the kind of paycut and desire that Hossa has to play here in Detroit! Then again, it's probably just wishful thinking from somone who has been a Hossa fan since he stepped foot in this league?

    Keeping "The Big 3"

First and foremost... absolutely. Kopy and Flip don't do much for me. I'd be sad to see Huds go but I'd be far happier keeping Hossa. Sammy, never been a fan and Cheli is getting up there. From the sounds of it Eriksson is ready and we've already seen that Helm should be in a Wings uniform this year. Yes, it would be a much younger squad but truthfully, I've always said this team needs some more young, high energy kids on our roster. As for the whole Pittsburgh comments, lets remember one thing here... Hossa had ZERO choice of going to Pitt. While I'm sure he liked playing with Crosby, I'll bet he would tell you he would take Dats on his line over Crosby any day. Did the Pittsburgh fans, media and even Pens PLAYERS get way too worked up when Hossa left? Hell yea! Talk about whinny *******. That is why IF Hossa is not a Red Wing after this season I will not be all pissy about it. I'll be the first to admit that I'll be upset, but it would never be ANYTHING personal. Now with that said, it's been very very clear for a while that Hossa has wanted to be a Red Wing for some time. Too many of you people are writing him off and saying he's gone after this year when you're not realizing how bad he'd love to stay with this team. If the Wings don't win the Cup this year, who has the best chance of winning it in the next 5 years? The Wings. Truthfully, it's pretty clear that Hossa isn't the type of player who runs after big money. I think as long as the Wings gave him something reasonable and something long team, I would bet Hossa will take it. When I imagine Holland dealing with it, and Holland saying "look, you can go make around 8-10 mill a year on a team that has no chance of winning (basically, back to an Atlanta type of team) or you can stay in Detroit, you won't make as much money but you'll be with an organization that is proven to be very very faithful to it's players". Anyways, enough rambling. All I'm saying is too many people are just writing it off as it's impossible. As for me, I'm hoping and praying the man stays a Red Wings until the day he retires. To me he is a perfect example of what every athlete should be!

Hossa just continues to amaze me...

Well, I looked and searched high and low through the forums and didn't see this mentioned anywhere so I figured I would post it. To me this just shows what a true sportsman he is to the game of hockey and such a perfect fit in the Wings organization! As we all saw last night the Wings took advantage of a tired Sharks club and played a full 60 minutes for probably the first time all season. Towards the end of an amazing game Hossa was tapped on the shoulder and was told he would be the first star of the game. Pretty fitting considering he had an amazing game defensively with a beautiful goal (all thanks to Dats) and an assist to boot. What happened next is what makes me proud to have this guy on our squad. Knowing that Dats showed how great of a player he can be with a 4 point night and how solid Conks was in net, he said he didn't deserve the first star, saying other players deserved it far more. The story can be found HERE! Talk about a nice slice of humble pie, I just can't imagine many other superstars from around the league doing this sort of thing. As I said, this guy continues to amaze me and after Z gets signed this guy should be priority number ONE (well 2nd to Z) to keep in the Wings uniform. The guy took less money to come here in Detroit and win a Cup, why wouldn't he do it again? Plus, even if the Wings don't win the Cup this year, who has the best chances to win the Cup in the next 4-5 years? Ummm, probably the Wings! I'm just now starting to come down from the high of last nights game and pray this is a turning point for the Wings... With that said, this picture perfectly fits the Wings win last night:

Hossa just continues to amaze me...

Like I said in my original post, priority number one is Z. No doubt. Anyone who says he should go over the Mule and Hossa is completely kidding themselves. This guy is the next face of our franchise. The next Lidstrom. And you guys are talking about shipping him out? You do remember he was MVP last year when we won the Cup, right? As for the Mule, I don't understand how some of you people are so quick to sign the Mule and toss out Hossa. How do you guys know that Franzens not gonna get paycheck happy and demand large amounts of money? I mean, I would totally understand if you were at a toss-up between Franzen and Hossa as for who should stay but to to say it should be the Mule, no exceptions.... I don't know, I guess we'll just agree to disagree on that. Now, as for the people who said the Hossa signing is less of a priority than Sammy and Huds is down-right taking crazy pills. If giving up both Huds and Sammy gives us a 10% better chance of signing Hossa, I don't think any GM on the planet would think TWICE about that decision. I'll admit, my personal man-love for Hossa does come into play with the whole Hossa/Franzen debate, for the simple fact that I've been a HUGE Hossa fan ever since he joined the league, but to say we should keep Franzen and kick Hossa out the front door is downright preposterous. Like I said, the priority list for Holland should be (given these players aren't asking for ridiculous money)... Zata Hossa Mule Huds Sammy Now, with all that said, lets watch one of the most amazing goals I have ever seen, and probably the most creative (up there with Dats' goal on Turco)... Yours truly........... MARIAN HOSSA!!!

Reverse the situation and you'd want a penalty called. Some people are just so blind they think no penalty should be called on the Wings. Even Mick said it had to be called with todays rules.

It really doesn't matter. Just like you have to have total control of your stick you have to know exactly where you are on the ice at all times. He went into the blue and ran into the goalie. It was his fault. And now the game is over... Least i'll be in bed by the end of the game and well rested so I can play hockey on a team THAT HAS PASSION!!!!
