    12/4 GDT: Red Wings 6, Canucks 5

Unfortunately when a team scored 5 goals on 25 shots, most of the blame is probably on the goalie. I've always backed Ozzie but he needs to re-evaluate his game! He's made more mistake than great plays this year. Luckily for him he plays wonderful within the last minute and the Wings can shut guys down *when they're within a single goal*

    12/4 GDT: Red Wings 6, Canucks 5

We scored 6 goals tonight. Why on EARTH would you change anything about our offense? Considering that Hossa, Franzen and Z are the top 3 goal scorers on the Wings and Hossa, Dats and Z are the top 3 point getters, I really don't see ANY need to reunite Z and Dats and throw Hossa out there with Flip (who has been invisible *to me* this year) and a shooter in Franzen

I'm sorry but for YEARS I have back Ozzie. I have always had his back when people got on him and I always knew he was a star but this year he is REALLY starting to piss me off! The 4th goal was horrible and the 5th goal was a result of Ozzie not stopping the play where the Canucks were circling the Wings. Instead of freezing the puck he plays it over to the side where the Canucks take it over, back to the D, over to the other D, shot in the net. I just don't understand why Babcock won't start playing Conklin MUCH more and tell Ozzie to get his s*** together. Don't think I'm putting this all on him, cause our D hasn't helped much. When you score 6 goals a game it really shouldn't be this close. This whole monicker of "it's everyones big game to play the Wings" is really getting old. You can't use that excuse EVERY night they play just because they can't dominate a team. Egh, I'll be over it in a few hours when I realize that in the end they won but I just can't get over how shakey Ozzie looks in net. I'm sorry but there is ZERO reason Babcock should be happy about this win.

    Avery comments & suspension

Like I said way back, Bettman should've called the Stars owner directly and told him to make this a team matter. Have the team ower fine him or suspend him but make it A TEAM THING! If he gets any more than a single game it's just gonna make the NHL disciplinary people look like complete jokes. It's okay, we'll have Pronger damn near paralyze someone and only give him a game but we're gonna ban Avery 10 games for making a disrespectful comment. Ridiculous! The NHLPA should be all over this one. They should be going NUTS about how the NHL cares zero about the physical well being of their players. This just pisses me off. I'm getting so fired up about it. What ever happened to that hit on Dats by Pronger earlier in the season where Pronger threw an elbow in Dats' head? Oh, because he didn't get hurt the league wouldn't even LOOK at the tape. Seriously, this is why I say I hope Pronger gets injured to where he can never play again. Cause in the end I'd rather him be out of the league than an all-star type player. Real classy NHL!

Whoa whoa whoa! Let's back this train up guys. Never did I say that Iginla and Phaneuf were tough guys or anything like that. All I simply said is that if he's gonna run his mouth about people he should have to 'face the music' as in see them face to face. Trust me, I can't stand the Flames (most of them atleast) but if I heard somebody talking s*** about me I sure would want to see them. Especially on the rink. I definitely wouldn't want there mommy protecting them (not saying Bettman was protecting him). All I'm saying is that Bettman shouldn't have suspended him for the simple fact that he should've had to face the people he cowardly talks about to the media. Thats all! Edit: after re-reading my original post I can see how it came off as me saying that Phaneuf and Iginla were serious tough-guy contenders. My apologies but that's definitely not what I meant!

    Bridgestone Greatest Captain (Part 2)

Did my part. I'll keep voting on days I remember to. So far Lids is up 38% over Crosbys 24%. What baffles me is that Crosby is that high. I mean, yea, I get it, it's Crosby! But there's some amazing captains that only have around 4-8% Sorry, but Crosby should be towards the bottom of the list. Not to knock his skill or what a great player he is, but he hasn't accomplished anything as a captain.

I agree also. Well, sort of. When you're a great coach who is humble like Bowman, where there's hardly any emotion and thats your thing, great! But when you're a brutal coach and you show no emotion, that's a different story. Just take the Lions coach as an example. The only thing he shows emotion at is when the media makes him look like an ass cause of his team. When your team is pathetic and the coach shows zero emotion, THAT is when it bugs me.

RED WINGS FOR ALL-STAR GAME !

Yea, it's a little annoying to sit there and vote over and over again. I just text 'Red Wings' to 81812 and it's a vote for all the Wings. Or I'll just type in their last name and they get a vote. Unlimited texting, no extra charges. And it's easy!

    Avery comments & suspension

If anything the League did Avery a favor by suspending him. That way he doesn't have to face the music that is Dion and Jerome! Hell, if I was Bettman I would've called Dion and Jerome and told them to have their way with Avery and no suspension will be warranted. You wanna open your mouth, back it up! Truthfully though, Bettman should've stayed out of it. If anything, he should've called the Stars organization and made them make a matter out of it. Make it a team thing, not the whole organization. And as for the guy who said something about being verbally abused... That crap will fly in everyday life with delicate people but not in the NHL. I whole-heartedly agree that verbal abuse can be just as bad as physical but c'mon... this is the NHL. If that were the case all the players would be in rehab dealing with psychiatrist and trying to kill themselves. I really just don't see Dion (or Jerome for that matter) shedding a tear after Avery's stupid comments. P.S. Can anyone tell me what Avery said about Iginla or point me in the direction of an article? I can't find it anywhere. edit: nevermind, found it.

RED WINGS FOR ALL-STAR GAME !

Why? They don't send you any junk email or crap like that. I've been signed up with NHL.com for years now and have never gotten one email. It'll ask you during your registration. Other than that I don't see a reason why you wouldn't?

RED WINGS FOR ALL-STAR GAME !

The Wings fans are not doing the same thing. What the Habs fans did was set up an auto-vote on their computer so they physically didn't have to go to the web site and set up all their votes. Every other teams fans are doing the exact same thing, stuffing the box. If someone wants to sit at their computer for hours on end voting for people I have no problem with it (I personally think it should be one vote per person) but setting up an auto-vote is just plain foolery! lol

RED WINGS FOR ALL-STAR GAME !

I'll agree with most on Ozzie. As of right now he just doesn't deserve to start in the All-Star game. That's not my point of this post though... I just wanted to jump in and encourage everyone to vote for Hossa, Z and Dats. As cheap as I thought it was that Habs fan got the auto-vote thing going, I'd love to see the Wings forwards start against the Habs fowards. Especially to keep Crosby out of the starting position, everytime I vote for the forwards it's all Wings and all Habs. So, c'mon people. Get voting for Dats, Z and Hossa!!! NOW!!!

    Mikael Samuelsson

I agree with everything that you've said so far. And of course he's playing well, it's a contract year for him. I don't know, I just have a hard time jumping on the Sammy bandwagon (which I think many people here are doing) just because he's off to a great start. Am I happy for him? Yea, as long as he's helping out the team. Is he a great deal? For the money, definitely! However, he should be at the bottom of the list when Holland worries about contracts next year. I'm not gonna say I hate Sammy, I like him. He does frustrate me more than not. But, his 2mill should be more focused on signing Hossa, Z and Mule first.

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 2 @ Canucks 3 (OT)

I literally just laughed a little when I read that. Talking about penalties I understand but to say..... ya know what, nevermind. Totally not even worth it. I'm just gonna go with: QFT!

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 2 @ Canucks 3 (OT)

Ha! I just said that EXACT same thing on the last page. Gotta completely agree with ya man. If you're not gonna call one, don't call the other. Personally, it's overtime and NEITHER should be called! pretty much anything besides 'house' hockey. and there was a little bit of sarcasm in my voice, but not all that much. Maybe it's just that everytime I go to a bar or a game 90% of the people in there have zero clue what they're talking about. Me and many of the people I know who have played travel hockey understand the ins and outs of the game. again, there was a little bit of sarcasm lingering.

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 2 @ Canucks 3 (OT)

And that is EXACTLY why the penalty was called... because the 'nucks player fell down. Had Franzen fell down, different story. Had they both stayed up, no penalty would've been called. I'm not saying it was a ridiculously horrible call, I'm just saying it's not a call I like to see in OT. Then again, this "New NHL" sickens me to death!

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 2 @ Canucks 3 (OT)

Agreed! And agreed! It's truthfully getting really annoying around here. And just further proves my point that unless you played the game at a competitive level, chances are you just do not understand the game of hockey.

    11/24 GDT: Red Wings 2 @ Canucks 3 (OT)

Ain't that the truth. Dats got away with a little hook but the interference on Z right after that was BLATANT!!! And I don't know what it is but I pray we don't see the 'Nucks in the playoffs. They've given us the hardest time of any team this year (which isn't saying all that much). Other than that, s***ty loss but I gotta say Osgood had an amazing game. I'm not for or against Ozzie right now, for the fact his game hasn't been up to snuff but he played his heart out tonight. He deserved that win. Then again, that point could be made for Sanford. Ah well, just another immaterial loss in our season.

All-Star Voting shenanigans by Habs fans.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/story/2008...tar-voting.html Seems Habs fans have been cheating a little and are boosting all the Habs All-Star Voting numbers. Currently every single Habs player, with the exception of Hamrlik (he's still playing in the NHL?) is above or around 200,000 votes. The closest ANY player comes to that is Lids with just over 100,000 and Luongo with just over 110,000. Hmmm, something seems a bit specious!!! Funny thing is, this is the comment from NHL spokesman Gary Meaghar about the situation: "I don't want to jump to conclusions at this point. There is some indication that something has happened ... I'm not at a point where I can say definitively that something has taken place," Then you have Puck Daddy (Greg Wyshynski) who quickly and easily came up with the problem (or reasoning for the problem) with the script the Habs fans have been using to auto-vote which can be seen by clicking the link below... http://f3.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_nhl_e...m3pdUADuyHRpbZT So, what do you all think should happen now? Personally, I would love to see them exclude all the Habs players and if anyone wants to complain, tell them to take it up with their class-act fans. Seriously, the Habs fans are about as worthless as all the jack-*sses who riot after their basketball team wins/loses (never understood why people riot after a win OR a lose?). Regardless, I just don't see this happening. What do you guys think they should do? Maybe keep all the current players votes as is and restart the Habs players back to zero? let me know what you all think!

Vote for Lids as best Captain!

I know this is pretty stupid but head on over to Sean Leahy's blog and vote for Lid's as the NHL's best captain. Here's the link... http://goingfivehole.blogspot.com/2008/10/...tournament.html I know, it's a stupid blog, but him and Sakic completely blew everyone else out in the other rounds and thus far he's losing with only 19% of the vote. There's only been 116 votes and he's only down 70 votes. Get on over there real quick (obviously no registering or crap) and take 2 extra seconds out of your day and make sure Lids doesn't lose to Sakic. By the way, I have nothing but respect for Sakic. Even through the rivalry he was the only one I never minded (cause he kept his mouth shut!).. However, of course our boy Lids is the better captain!

Rumor: Hossa leaving after this season

Strickland has been proven to have zero relevance in any "rumor" that goes around the NHL Heaton and Matt's post say it all. Hossa would obviously rather play for a winning team then go to a Toronto to play with a friend. Just stupid!
  24. This Is Bida

    Random Idea

Mark my words... Hossa will retire a Red Wing. With that said, if we do lose Hossa after the end of this season I will have no ill will. And I swear if I see any Red Wing or Wings fan act like any of the Pens fans about Hossa leaving Pittsburgh I'll never be a Wings fan again!!! My god are they whinny about him. Plus the Penguin who said it was a "blow to the heart" that he left? What a p*ssy!

Who would produce the most on the 2nd line?

I do not understand why so many people insist on Hossa being on the 2nd line. Hossa is the 4 or 5th top scorer in the NHL right now. Granted, Zetterberg could be up there too with Dats but he's not. Zetterberg, and hell, even Franzen is producing right after coming back from an injury. Franzen and Z are fine together. The first line is taking care of business just like they should. I'm not saying Hossa did us a favor by signing with Detroit but considering he took a pretty large paycut to come here he should have the right to play with Dats as long as they're producing. The funny part about it is that our offense has been spectacular. Scoring in bunches, highlight reel goals. Right about now, there's not much reason to mess with the first 2 lines. The ONLY thing I think needs to change with our offense is that, I truthfully believe that Leino, Helm (and hell, probably even Abdelkader) should be playing in place of McCarty & Kopy (and take your pick for Abdelkader. At one time I would've said Malts but he's been playing phenomenal lately). As far as our first 2 lines go, not many other teams can come close to competing with us as far as our talent on those 2 lines. No reason to change it.
