I like the new logos but I'll admit I love the old logos.

A dirt cheap Jagr is better than Hudler, even if it is just a band-aid to give us another year to replace Hudler. Either way Hudler has to go.

I have Chris Chelios, Brendan Shanahan, Sergei Fedorov, Nick Lidstrom, and Steve Yzerman. Cool collection.

Loyalty questions for Canadian Wings fans
TheBigRedMachine replied to redeyedwings's topic in General
No loyalty questions for me. It's the name on the front, not the name on the back when it come to winning. I've always disliked Brett Hull but when he was on the Red Wings I cheered and hoped for his success and the same goes for Team Canada. -
YZERMAN IS GOLD (At least I hope he is! Go Canada Go!) I celebrated with Molson Canadian and some Pizza Hut in '02 and I plan on doing the same '10

What do you plan to do when the Olympic break goes on?
TheBigRedMachine replied to chukjones's topic in General
As a Canadian, I've been waiting for the 2010 Olympics since our utter failure in Turin. I can't deny that I am giddy like a school girl thinking about watching Canada's best play on our own soil..... -
I remember during the lockout, Canadians were just drifting from place to place, virtually zombies in their frozen homeland, searching in vain for hockey. Alas, without Jake Ryan's (US)NHL, Canadians were to abandon all hope of finding great hockey to watch...... oh wait, that wasn't the case at all - because hockey is everywhere in Canada. My local OHL London Knights always draw a nice crowd, my hometown Chatham (Pop. 44000) Maroons always play to a decent crown and that's Ontario's Western Junior 'B' hockey... There is also the London Nationals here in the Forest City as well. The lockout proved that whether there is NHL or not, Canada has an unquenchable thirst for their homegrown sport. Everyday, as a typical Canuck, I go into work and talk to co-workers about every NHL game to night before...not just the games our teams played in, we then talk OHL, then Western Junior B.....everyday.....

If Team Canada wins Gold in Vancouver the whole world will see a hockey country.

I voted on the pro-enforcer side of the poll. Not because of statistics, hockey theory or an unhappiness with how things are going for the team but because I just love seeing someone in a Red Wings sweater punching someone not wearing one in the face.

That's right James Duthie, Pierre McGuire and Bob McKenzie have all chosen the Red Wings to be the back-2-back Champions once again. Personally I hate the curse of sportscasters picking your team to win it all but at least TSN has decided to show the Wings some love, finally. (Even though they've been relegated to TSN2.) GO WINGS!!! :octo: :octo: Edit: There, I changed my post, that way all of you so offended by my use of irregardless can go back to bitching about something else. As a further suggestion, if you're so concerned about spelling and grammar perhaps you should take the time to edit wikipedia, they could use your help and your keen eyes.

It's just considered to be incorrect do to the fact that the prefix and suffix denote the meaning to have a double negative. Unfortunately for the spelling-gestapo, once a word is entered into the Oxford English dictionary it is generally considered to have a permanent place in the language. And irregardless has been there quite snugly since the early 1920's. Similar to D'oh! made famous by Homer Simpson. How do I know this? I had this same argument with a professor who gave me bonus marks for proving to him that irregardless is indeed a word, irregardless of whether or not it is correct.

I have a year-round shrine, a permanent little place used for private Detroit Red Wings worshiping and conjuring of the spirits of Red Wings greats long past out of the realm of Hockeytown..... :octo: :octo:

Congratulations Marian Hossa - 40 Goals
TheBigRedMachine replied to RedWingedKitten's topic in General
GOAL! Hossa is definitely badass, and it would be even more badass if he signs with the Wings again. But I'm not getting my hopes up and I'm staying on the fence, if he does - sweet, if he doesn't - no shocker here. -
Thumbs up to the Blackhawks organization for releasing a whole slew of semi-humourous commercials this season. This kind of stuff can really get fans pumped up for the playoffs. But, unfortunately for the 'Hawks...... :octo: THE OCTOPUS WILL REIGN SUPREME! (again) :octo:

You have the foresight of a wise Jedi Master. :starwars:

Hope Lilja gets well soon. From a hockey standpoint, I'm comfortable with Ericsson.

Danton back in Canada; eligible for Parole
TheBigRedMachine replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Touché. I was trying to think of something clever to say but GoalieManPat wins.... -
Call me an old-fashioned Canadian boy but damn I like a good fight. Would I stop watching hockey if fighting were removed? Hell no, but I most certainly would be ranting to the young'uns in a drunken stupor about how in the good ol' days a scrum could become a scrap and the opinions of politically correct soccer moms had no place in Canada's game! At that point I'd probably pass out and piss myself. :beerbuddy:

I can relate a Gordie story that my Dad always tells me because I find it to be a true example of how classy this guy is. Back in the '60's, my Dad (being a little kid) went to an Eaton's department store to meet Gordie Howe at a scheduled meet and greet. Of course the line-up was quite long but when my Dad got up there to meet him, Gordie asked, "So little guy, what do you want to be when you grow up?" and my Dad replied, "I want to be a Train Engineer and drive trains like my Dad." Gordie then laughed and said, "You're the first kid that didn't say hockey player." Gordie then proceeded to halt the entire meet and greet, walk with my (child) Dad to the Eaton's toy department and purchase a Lionel Toy Train Engine, signed it, and gave it to my Dad. My Dad still has that Toy, unopened in the box and has an absolute man-crush on Mr. Hockey.

A lot of times when I want to go to a live game (whatever the sport/league) I plan it out ahead and try to pick up a deal on ebay or mostly off a site called kijiji (don't know if you have that in your area). Kijiji is just a local classifieds website. Most times people with tickets will put them up at face value or if nearer to event, less-than-face. I can understand what you're saying, tickets/parking/souvenir/beverage/food/travel prices add up quick.

I like Conks, but like others have said, "Who knows?" I just hope our team can pull things together for a long playoff haul....16 wins.

I really hope the "Kronwall Krush" begins to reappear as we near the playoffs!
