Convince me why I shouldn't be dreading this series....

Very good, not completly delusional I see. But in my mind where the Sharks speed comes into play isn't in the high fliers. Every team has few of those. It's in the surprising speed of guys like Grier, Clowe, Thornton, Ehrhoff, Goc etc. there simply are very few guys on the roster that would be considered slow. Bernier and maybe Brown, that's about it. And the difference between a speedy team like Nashville, and a speedy team like the Sharks is that Sullivan, Kariya Legwand etc are midgets. The Sharks bring all that speed, but they put it in a 6'2 215lb package The trick in managing the Sharks speed is not in your best D handling the 3 high fliers, it's in your 3rd pairing handling Grier and Goc...

    Here comes the bluster..

But wait, I thought the regular season didn't mean anything. Because if it suddenly does, the you must acknowledge these stats. 3-1 season series. 9-4 and 5-1 at home. So does regular season mean something or not...? This only makes sense if you consider the Flames a tough team. And if you do, then you are in for a big surprise, is all I'm saying...

Ahhh, an excellent use of false logic I applaud you. Let me translate your logic into english. Claim: Wings aren't soft. Logic: Because they managed to squeak by a weak team, Conclusion: The Wings' toughness is still very much in doubt. The only reason to use the Flames as an example of beating a tough team, is if you think it would also apply to the Sharks. So either there is no comparison, in which case nothing has been proven about the Wings toughness because you simply can't compare the Flames and Sharks, or... There was a comparison, and the poster was equating the Flames and Sharks. Which is it...? And when the Sharks walk out of the Joe with at least a split, and maybe a sweep...? what will you do then? Acknowledge that you completely underestimated a vastly superior Sharks team? I know I would, and have, on the rare occasion that it has happened. Like last year against Edmonton. Will you have the balls to do that at least?

I love posts like this. So a team that finished with less points and didn't make it out of the first rd is a better team than Anaheim? Your division was pathetic. The Sharks played 16 games against the Ducks and Stars. You own our team? Like you owned us by losing 9-4? Like you owned us losing the season series 3-1? Like you owned us in '94? Hasek is a shadow of his former self. 8 goals against in one game was a record. Nabokov will outplay him easily...

yeah, the reason would be playing in the weakest division in the conference. Funny how that fact seems to slip by you guys. You had trouble handling the 8th best team in the conference (in points). The Sharks completely demolished the 3rd best team (in points). Get ready for an ass-whoopin. Sharks in 5...

This is a very accurate analysis of the matchup. The Sharks ARE bigger, the Sharks ARE faster, the Sharks ARE younger, the Sharks ARE tougher. Sharks in 5...

    SHARKS

I'd recommend the forum on SJSharks.com instead. Not as colorful or high tech, but a much better place to talk hockey...

I watched 3 games from the Flames/Wings series. You were facing a Flames team with a complete lack of direction and who is MUCH smaller than the Sharks, and you still struggled to match them physically. If you think that was a physical series, then you haven't seen anything yet. Comparing the Sharks to the Flames is the true ignorance....

    Homer News?

Actually, it sounds exactly like the stuff the Preds kept saying about Sullivan during round one. He never played a game...

There's a reason nearly all the experts are picking the Sharks. They AVERAGE 6'2 215 across the front line. They are fast, physical and completely manhandled the Wings during the regular season. Bertuzzi was a nice addition, but that's not gonna help the Wings any more than picking up Forsberg helped the Preds. The Wings are still too soft. It's not about the size and toughness of your forwards, it's about the size and toughness of your Dmen. When guys like Thornton, Michalek, Cheechoo, Guerin, Marleau, Grier, Clowe, Bernier Brown and Goc get down low with the puck, the Wings have proven themselves incapable of competing physically. This leads to goals or penalties. And the penalties lead to goals There seem to be a misconception about the Sharks D. They allowed the 3rd fewest goals. And with the addition of Rivet, the Sharks have a fantastic mix of experience (Rivet, MacLaren, Hannan) and youth/skill (Vlasic, Ehrhoff, Carle) I think the goaltending is about equal. Hasek is good but this is not 2001. Nabokov has finally fully recovered from his injury last year and is playing like his old self. Sharks in 5....

Welcome to LGW, San Jose Sharks fans

    ESPN Picks

Unless they pick the Wings of course. Then they're brilliant. I'm betting Wings fans weren't saying these things when the majority at ESPN picked them to beat Calgary... Are you guys starting to get the picture? Nearly everyone can see that the Sharks are just too big, too fast and too skilled. Sharks in 5...

    Maggies picks , Round 2

Nearly unanimously, the experts are picking the Sharks. I gotta go with them on this one. San Jose is just too big, too fast and too skilled. The addition of Rivet and Guerin at the deadline has put them over the top. Sharks in 5...
