well also they were tlaking about the poor performance of the Sharks so far and the fact that Wilson was really giving it to the guys in the locker room about the playoffs last year. So with the home-opener thing going, plus the pre game speech, it looks like they're actually showing up tonight.

The sharks announcer is reviewing the penalty, saying that it's a bogus rule. THe stick did come out, but it didn't impede or hinder the player at all, and that they need to call it differently.

oh, please...... I don't even want to hear that. I've been on the west coast and I've seen nothing but favoritism for your team since the late 70's. Not to mention nobody whines more about penalties than Wings players. At least that's what I've been seeing for 30 years. The Wings are professionals, they'll kill the penalties and come back strong. THey're good enough. They'll get under the Duck's skin, the Ducks will take some dumb penalties, and the tide will turn. Bad officiating is part of the game.

THey're bitter becasuse of the 2-0 loss against the Wild, and having big BOogaard cleaning the clocks of Perry and May. The SHarks are dropping gloves too. Not that y'all care, it's just interesting how gooned up the league has gotten in the last year or two. And how the officiating is more against fighting than protecting the players.

So just getting home, I'm sad to be stuck with the homerish, always annoying Ducks feed, as well as getting the Vancouver feed for the SHarks game. And they both started at 7:00. So... which game to watch? Ah.... BOTH. yes... Center Ice and the extra box... good times.

uh...yeah? You don't? I wear jerseys constantly. I wear it to work, which is my design firm. I wear jerseys in the middle of a heatwave, in the summer, and in the rain. I wear any number of team's jerseys, those that I grew up with and are a fan of. I wear everything but my jersey (ECHL), that's going too far. I wear obscure minor league jerseys and confuse Californians working around me. When I have to wear my monkey suit, I have a SHarks tie pin. WHen I entertain or have to go somewhere with a dress code, I wear a SHarks shirt under the sports coat. I wear them in the off season. My friends and family expect this, and the girlfriend expects this on any given occasion. But that's just me. You like hockey, no?

Not only do I agree with this theory, but I've seen it since the lockout. I'ts not that simple, but the league should at least be able to schedule games and solve the Rubik's Cube regarding high turnout. In other words, the division rivalries suck. From my perspective, as a Sharks fan/former season ticket holder, I could really care less about seeing 8+ games vs. the Ducks/Kings. What really packs em in is the WIngs, and what really is OWED to hockey fans is seeing original six teams visit the arenas more than once every three years. I want to see the Leafs. I want to see Boston. I want to see the Wings more. Hell, even the Lightning or the Devils, or NYI or NYR. The Charks do all right with the selling of tickets it seems, but the league in general seems to be missing a big part of what makes hockey history important. And as far as the rivalry thing goes, I think it's possible. There were 100+ fights in the preseason, and despite the bullshoot instigator rule, fighting is alive and well. Heck, the record PM in a game is the Ottawa/Philly game a few years back. So there's this horrible contradiction between what the league/Bettman wants as far as cleaning up the game, yet the increase in division games seems to beguile the current gameplay strategy. It's failing. EVeryone who's ever played even broom hockey knows how bad it gets when you see the same people night after night... so basically the whole new season structure is in itself ONE BIG INSTIGATOR PENALTY. And if there's one thing I want to say about my Game... when you make decisions based on marketing strategy, and ignore what the players and the league wants, well then... you take a part of the game''s heart away, and ultimately it will die. Fighting? Ask the players. Cheap shots? Ask the players who will get suspended for a game or three when they try to police their own game. And yet we have 8+ division games vs. any given team. Punish the cheap/head/boarding.... but let the league police it's own. Ok, I'm tired and boozed. Out.
