Problems with DirecTV / Dish / Center Ice blackouts
Defenseman13 replied to Bluedevils_13's topic in General
I've had this isssue in California. Some cable packages have FSN, FSPT (prime ticket), local AND Center Ice. SO... if you have two out of the three, often they will black you out because it's broadcasted locally, even though you don't get that local channel. It sucks, but be SURE to call DirectTV, and immediately ask for a supervisor. Don't tell them your problem, just say you've been told to talk to a supervisor, and hopefully they'll clear it up. Worst case scenario, you might have to go to a bar. -
so.... that Holmstrom guy is decent? sarcasm
-
well, in your defense, I'm comparing it to the Sharks/Avs game and going to the Kings home opener with a friend. edit: it does kick ass though

This is the best period of hockey I've seen in a week.

ahhhh..... is the online feed bad?
-
Chelios... good god. What do they feed this man.

you have to be freaking kidding me. $150 for a whole season of games on TV, every freaking team every day? Jesus, do the math. That's the best $150 you'll EVER spend.
-
How did that not go in? (insert "your mom never said that" joke here")
-
announcer just said they're together... and THANK YOU Center Ice for blessing me with the FSN Detroit feed and not the Oilers feed. Game on!

We went to the Kings opener (I live in L.A.) and they blew it, and USC lost as well as UCLA... it was a horrible weekend for Cali. But if by horrible I mean the Ducks losing to the Pens, then it wasn't half bad I guess.

Hartnell was the target of the fight I believe, as he threw the simultaneous knee/elbow that dropped Cheechoo, took out a tooth, and caused him to miss a game. He was suspended one game for that. Bernier was also boarded... it was a dirty series on the Nashville side. Despite the outcome, the Wings/Sharks series was amazing to watch and was just great hockey (until the end of game 4! haha) I think the reason there were so many fights in the preseason (120, http://www.hockeyfights.com/stats/ ) were a response to this kind of dirty play nad the Ducks gooning it up as they won the Cup. Speaking of fights, the DET/EDM game today should be interesting, they've adopted the Ducks style of play, complete with the knee. This is from the SJS/EDM game a week ago that we lost in a shootout. TOrres has been on a mission lately.

Center Ice is in fact the greatest. The office now has the extra TV in it, and another $5 a month gets me another cable box. That means 2 different games at the same time, not including the 2 games I can record through the DVR. There's nothing like having the potential for 10 hours of hockey a day depending on the schedule, trying to work, and keeping a girlfriend. Unfortunately I need to work to pay the electric and cable bills. Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. oh and if anyone's interested, we went to the King's home opener (I live in L.A.) and made a little camera video. They had quite a party, including speeches and appearances by Luc Robitaille, Marcel Dionne, McSorley, Deadmarsh and so on. They tanked it to the Blues, and it was really ugly hockey to watch. http://www.teamblueline.com/kingsopener.wmv Relating to the thread, I see the Wings style taking advantage of the Oilers, but beware... they have some guns still up front. They did a number on the Sharks, although we played a bit weak and did manage to squeeze a point out of it in a shootout.

oh crap... just pray that Melrose doesn't pick the WIngs this year. You guys know about the Melrose curse, right?
-
Tootoo is a shady bastard. He can take a punch though... remember this?
-
Jeez... I can't imagine what would happen to this board if you met them in the playoffs. Hopefully we'll pay them back this Wednesday, unless we tank it again.
-
Proper grammar is required when talking smack. I also question any fan that still dwells on a victory over a series from a previous year, especially when it was promptly followed by an almost identical "spanking" by you-know-who. Nice try though.

I can't even begin to tell you how horrible the Sharks played tonight. Flat. All around flat. Usually I could blame it on Nabby letting in a goal or two he shouldn't have, but not tonight. Tonight we just didn't show up. Period. No shots, tons of turnovers, horrible passes... and every announcer I've seen can't stop talking about the Sharks being "contenders" or "the biggest team", but I know better. Good old Sharks. It was a bad weekend for the West period.

The opening game against Anaheim was brilliant, and that move Datsyuk made was amazing. It was amazing hockey to watch, and I'm looking forward to the 18th.... see you hosers at the tank!

We (Sharks) lost our opener to the Kings 6-5 in a shootout, then downed the Mighty Sucks two games in a row. Tonight my folks watched the Vancouver game at the tank, and it was brutal. Roenick got on the board, as did Cheecho, and we beat the Nucks 3-1. What was interesting (and made me want to share) was the amount of goonage. Apparently they took liberties with our Captain, which resulted in 10 players getting tossed for fighting: Sep 22, 2007 VAN Nathan McIver SAN Rob Davison Sep 22, 2007 VAN Pierre-Cédrick Labrie SAN Doug Murray Sep 22, 2007 VAN Nathan McIver SAN Patrick Marleau Sep 22, 2007 VAN Alexandre Burrows SAN Craig Rivet Sep 22, 2007 VAN Jeff Cowan SAN Ryane Clowe (taken from Hockeyfights.com, a great place to catch fights for those that like em, and who doesn't?) Seems like we took the lead from the Ducks on the fighting as well as filling in defensive holes with tough guys. So far so good. Apparently Marleau fought one of their tougher guys. Hockey's back, that's for sure. See you guys October 18th!

word!

I can not relate to a word you said, pre-season, sports, or otherwise. Heresy! I know they don't "count"... I think the Sharks were undefeated in preseason last year, and look what happened. You have to understand that I don't follow any other sports, so that summer gap drives me nuts when there's no sports on. What's been fascinating me more is the amount of fighting. By the time I'm writing this response, the NYR/ISL brawl has already gone down, and tons of other fights have happened. I personally think it's a combination of the usual rookies trying to make their mark, a nod to who has the cup right now and their tactics, and the big one.... a response to cheap hits that were horribly officiated and are getting out of control. (Pronger, the SJ/NAS series etc... plus the countless boardings last year.) oh god...don't remind me. I don't thiink he's even played yet, I haven't seen him. Amen brother. Just seeing the commercials start again gives me goosebumps. relax, dude. Do not mistake some people's love for The Game as calling out your manhood or genitalia size. You'e a a bit angry right now, and you need a hug.
