That's the general consensus of Shark fans, that we pretty much stood still. And I'm not referring to "trades" as much as I meant players coming and going. Oh well, if it ain't broke....yada yada

sweet.... oh, by the way... it is with great fortune I find you, fellow Wing people, as you have won $30m AMerican Dollars in the Nigerian lottery..... jk

Game 1 SCF: Ottawa Senators at Anaheim Ducks
Defenseman13 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
holy....crap! How freakin awful was the Star Spangled Banner? That was Stills from CSNY, right? My god. That was so horribly off key it was disgraceful. I was a little annoyed that Ducks fans couldn't keep quiet during the moment of silence, but every arena has those guys I guess. -
He was injured. I will not get chippy like some posters, BUT.... you obviously have completely missed the spirit of hockey and have not plyaed, and are missing what makes hockey one of the classiest, most respectable games on ice. Despite it's stereotype, hockey is one of the most humble and charitable sports out there. I wont get into cultural/educational reasons why other sport's athletes would be incapable of shaking hands with other players, but the fact that hockey players can beat the crap out of each other and remailn professional is an example to anyone that has children, plays the game, or is just a good human being. You claim that everyone is enemies, but you miss the point. THere is something called respect. THat's why Pronger and Holmstrom shook hands after the game, regardless of what went down earlier in the series. Hell, half of these guys have played with each other at one point or another. Respect, class, and sportsmanship. THose of us that love the game of hockey understand that this is what makes the sport great. Oh, again... Chelios was injured.

you want to hold something against me....uh....hehe see everyone for the Ottawa series!

I think you are way off. Heart is HUGE, and the Wings played flat. How do you explain the Wings owning the 3rd period and making a comeback like that? Surely that's the most injured/tired they have been all series. These are professional athletes. THey can play injured, and they are no more or less injured than the Ducks.

WCF Game 6 (5/22) GDT: Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
Defenseman13 replied to aflac9262's topic in General
oh, some on people. We (Sharks and Wings) lost becasue we didn't want it enough. I'm over it. Yes, Ducks/OTT couldn't be a more boring *yawn* series, but it STILL is playoff hockey. I'd rather pull toenails before watching basketball. So let's root for OTT and keep the Ducks from getting a cup. Great seasons though.... there's always next year! -

So anyone else have the game on Vs. and is watching Youngblood right now? ha what a classic movie. It's no Slapshot, but I like it. I hear the Ducks have Carl Racki substituted for Pronger..... -
haha nice.... so you guys know about the Melrose curse too?

I think the rep of the Ducks being physical comes from the fact that they led the league in fighting majors, and have a dude like Ron Jeremy---er, George Parros leading the way. But when it comes to laying smart checks that result in puck control and just plain smart hitting, the Wings lead.

L.A. does love a winner. Without going off too hard, I totally agree with your view on Southern Cali. So many people are here to further their careers, school, or make money but don't plan on staying long. Because of that everyone here seems really miserable, and the majority of the people that do live here permanently are either rich (5%) or living day to day (95%). It's too bad that a one bedroom goes for an average of $1100-$1600, and that's barely getting close to the ocean. From Long Beach, I would totally have to time my drive if I wanted to go to a Kings or Ducks game, and would even have to stay the night unless I wanted to pend four hours in traffic. I think that kind of escalates the "fair weather" attitude that DOES exist down here, as I would probably be beyond pissed if I was a Kings fan. I think a lot of the cheering/booing that is questionable to fansof other markets is due in a large part to fans being frustrated by driving two hours, parking for another hour, and then losing 5-0 at the pond. I think the non-game related stress really adds to a lot of issues that other fans see. However, there are a lot of die hard Ducks fans. I know quite a few. And there are a lot of classy Ducks fans as well. Just like any arena, the playoffs do breed bandwagoneering and retardation. The year before last, some random bandwagon Sharks fans booed the Canadian anthem after mistakenly thinking that Calgary booed our anthem the previous game. The Sharks organization actually released a statement about the "bad apples". The flaming on the internet and the conversations in bars were really anti-Sharks fans, which was too bad, since 99.9% of our fans are very knowledgeable and hospitable to other visiting teams. So I think this thread should die. I saw the same things going on during the Sharks/Preds series after their dirty hits, in which nobody was permanently injured. Follow the lead of the players. If they can blow it off and come back out and play, the very least the fans can do is follow suit. But feel free to boo Pronger. It's all in fun and part of the game. EDIT: this thread is why I'm here and support this forum. http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43317

yikes... first you would need to capture the entire video somehow from Google, which I'm not sure is a possibility. I would Google "capturing Google video". Then it would need to be in an editable format like .avi, .mov... Then you could use Windows Movie Maker. That is the easiest route I can imagine, as I'm assuming you don't have Final Cut, Premiere or what not.

5-16 GDT: Game 4 of the WCF Buffalo VS Ottawa
Defenseman13 replied to Elshupacabra's topic in General
Damn, I turned the game on a minute late and already missed a goal! Good for Buffalo. -
no, I wasn't directing that at you specifically... but I do doubt that you play at a level that you have to worry about taking checks like that, or keeping your head up constantly. That's more what I was trying to say. But it is good to hear that fans from Anaheim know the game and actually play. I live in L.A., and I know how hard it is to get stick time at any arena. I'm usually at the rink on Sepulveda in Culver City.

The only thing I would say if Pronger was on my team would be "I'm glad Holmstrom is OK, glad our top D-guy isn't suspended for more games... see you guys in Game 4!" Us Sharks fans have been booing him every time he touches the puck...EVERY TIME... since he was with the St Louis BLues. This is the Pronger we all knew and hated... and apparently he still is. The only thing that bothers me about some comments I've seen by Duck fans are those that come from people that obviously have never played, or just plain miss the fact that you need to have a certain level of respect for other players. Sure, it's no Eddie Shore hit on Ace Bailey... but one of these days we're going to see that again, or worse. And this is how it's going to happen. And if the league doesn't crack down harder, it will. Trust me... until you've been hit from behind or knocked out on the ice, or take off the fan glasses, you can't really appreciate just how dangerous what Pronger did was. Ducks fans biased? Try the GM. "We disagree completely with (NHL disciplinarian) Colin Campbell's decision here. But we respect the process, the Ducks general manager Brian Burke said. "If you watch some of the other views, it looks like a dangerous, high hit. If you look at the end zone view, I think it shows best that Chris Pronger went to hit Tomas Holmstrom at a 45-degree angle from the boards. "At no point is Chris delivering a hit toward the boards, a dangerous hit. He's coming in to finish a check at a 45-degree angle. Rob Niedermayer steps into the player (Holmstrom), pins him, you get a high finish." right.... a 45 degree angle hit. Hey Burke, nobody gives a crap about the boarding... it's the elbown to the head. Does this look clean? There's a great video with Barry Melrose about the hit.... Article with video

You guys shouldn't even worry about fans.... it's coming straight from the horse's mouth. The GM. "We disagree completely with (NHL disciplinarian) Colin Campbell's decision here.
