I went and saw a game last night between the Western Australia and Adelaide state teams. The quality is obviously no where near that of anything you would find in NA, but it's still nice to see a rare game over here. About 200 people showed up too which is pretty amazing. It's funny to hear someone over the speaker system explaining the rules of the game. I imagine a similar thing happens at Ducks games?

You never know, in Australia we recently had a rugby leauge team caught for breaching the salary cap over a period of time. The NRL stripped them of 2 championships and they can not earn any points on the table this year. The craziest punishment I have seen over here thats for sure. Imagine if the NHL did something like that

I just mentioned this in the Kovalchuck thread, pretty amazing news if they are actually taking this seriously. It could just be the NHL trying to appear a bit more consistant. Although it was the arbitor who brought it up, is he completely independant from the league? Will get really messy. Very glad Z and Mule aren't mentioned but I'm sure other GM's will cry foul about them if any of their players are actually affected by this.

Yes I'm aware of that but we still have incidents like the hossa no goal in 09. Video review should overrule everything. Anyone could see that the call on the ice was ridiculous and video evidence should overturn it.

The rest of the team were on hand to demo the new jersey too. ...yea bored at uni

I don't see how the verification line will help anything. For example, goalie collapses in net covering both lines and takes away vision of the puck. It would be no different than having one line in that situation. I don't hate the idea of no touch icing. It's exciting watching two players race for the puck to negate icing, but it is incredibly dangerous and it would suck to have a career ended on a play like that. Pros/cons for that one for sure. Pk should be able to ice the puck. OT changes are stupid. They need to sort out reviewable plays. ie. EVERY goal scenario should be reviewable. I can't see people abusing it, and if they do I'm sure they could implement some kind of penatly for doing so. Either that or give each coach 3 review calls a game etc. There are way too many legit goals called off each year. There really shouldn't be any.

Watching the conference has got me so excited (even more so) for this season. I may even be more excited than when we pulled Hoss. Not that I think Modano will add to the team the same way that Hossa did, but come on it's Mike Modano! Will be so cool to see him in the winged wheel.

SportsK is definitely where I will go . I bought my last jersey from the NHL store and would NEVER reccomend that to anyone. Not just the quality of the lettering (iron on), but also the outlandish shipping cost (somewhere between 50-70 AUD if I'm not mistaken).

I would buy it without question if it weren't for the high cost of jerseys, especially if they have to be sent overseas. I still need a Franzen jersey first. Having said that, I'd buy it immediately if we were to win the cup. Also the #90 just looks awesome

I don't understand the people who are happy to see him leave (If he were to leave the NHL..) Sure the guy might not be worth the money hes asking, but I don't really care if it's not the wings getting into ridiculous contracts. This guy is an exciting player and one I love to watch, he has his issues but he's still a great player for the game. The NHL shouldn't let the KHL take away people like Kovalchuck, he is someone who can sell tickets. I hope the contract dispute is resolved and he stays in the NHL.
