^Pennywise performing as well? This can't get any better. It's a bummer we don't have a parade (The Angels had a parade when they won the World Series), but I'll be screaming my lungs out at the two hour rally. Three sun-belt teams have won it in a row, will the trend continue?

^Just out of curiosity, there has been only one defined "cheap shot" in this series, and that would be Chris Pronger's. Eliminate that one instance in this round, and tell me the Ducks are a "dirty team." I don't judge Ottawa by Alfie and Neil, Minnesota by Boogaard, the Kings by...well the Kings suck.

Ducks; A disgrace to NHL? Trend for good ol' hockey going to the
Wild Wing replied to a topic in General
Then why the sudden requirement to make excuses for your team? Your whining really detracts from the highlights of the Red Wings season. As a relatively new hockey fan, one thing I love about Red Wings fans are their great display of class. I guess I can't wish for classy fans of all teams. It's okay though, I won't judge your organization by one person, as you or some of your peers love to do. -
I'm really surprised Detroit hasn't exploited Giggy's vulnerability when it comes to lateral movement. Take the 5-on-3 powerplay you guys had in Game 2, Lang got the puck to either Clearly or Datsyuk, and the quick pass threw Giggy off, and the Detroit player had a WIDE OPEN GOAL. That's okay though, please keep shooting it at him! Giggy is on a roll right now, but we must help him out. We can't expect to win if Detroit keeps outshooting us 2-1, and our defense is not omnipotent. Beauchemin, Marchant, and Pahlsson, are non-marquee defensive specialists, are playing their hearts out. Our offense? Sloppy, turnover-prone, and lacking in the shot department. We need to get everyone involved and send ourselves to the SCF.
-
Ouch, that is how we should be running our power plays. We got lucky on that Holmstrom miss.
-
It still amazes me how well you guys kill our penalties. I swear, nothing is more frustrating then witnessing Detroit ruin all our power play opportunites thanks to amazing team efforts. The worst part, this has been happening all series. Kudos.
-
I actually think they were talking about Moen and Draper mouthing off, because Moen was trying to go after Datsyuk I guess.
-
Once again, you guys really have our number on power plays. When you are shorthanded, you play better against our five guys.
-
Thank you NBC, for disallowing me to watch another overtime hockey game, replaced by something that shouldn't even get any coverage on national TV. Seriously, WTF? I'm buying Versus next year.

^^Claude Lemieux on the Wings would make the Earth blow up.

I'm actually really surprised we didn't let a goal in towards the end of the third period. I was freaking out in my seat at the Pond last night, because Detroit went crazy offensively. I was surrounded by Red Wings fans, and everyone was just standing up as Detroit let go shot after shot. Is it Sunday yet?
-
Haha, I saw the sign last night, and my buddy who is a Detroit native loved it. One thing that I always root for in all professionals sports is for the perennially bad teams to finally overcome their slumps...except for the LA Kings

^^Any chance you can book Pebble Beach?

If we lose tonight, I have my list of excuses: 1) Our masseuse got arrested for a D.U.I. while on a spending binge in posh, South Orange County. I guarantee we would win if he didn't get arrested. 2) Emilio Estevez was supposed to be there for Game 3, he probably won't show tonight. How can we win without Gordon Bombay? 3) We didn't sign Greg Goldberg for goalie, we are screwed. 4) Detroit uses steroids. 5) We are just resting to kick your asses back in Detroit. There, I think I covered the bases. DUCKS IN 7!

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
Wild Wing replied to aflac9262's topic in General
I'll be there in three hours, and funny enough, I am going with a die-hard Red Wings fan (born in Detroit, and lurks on these boards). I'll be cheering my ass off, trying to drown out Detroit fans. -
^^Precisely why I came here post. After Game 3, I witnessed a ton of Red Wings fans, and not one of them came up to me and said "you guys suck!" as Minnesota and Vancouver fans loved to do. Detroit fans do not showboat, and respect other teams to the point that they don't blurt out stupid comments after the game. This is after we got blown out too. That deserves a commendation.
-
^I think this is just a testament to Mike Babcock's adjustments. After two games, these two teams were keeping it close, but wow, I'm just in awe of tonight's performance. I'm really not trying to suck up, but it looked like you guys were playing the L.A. Kings out there. It's just a combination of you guys really playing well, and our guys skating as if it was Disney on Ice or something. I'll be there on Thursday, rooting them on until the final buzzer, and again for any subsequent games (that is, if you guys let up just a little, please? )

oh where oh where have all the ducks fans gone
Wild Wing replied to hillbillywingsfan's topic in General
Yeah, we just need to get over this hump of discouragement. Detroit was Championship-caliber tonight, and we played with our tail between our legs. Rob's shot on Holmstrom was definitely poor sportsmanship, and I'm sad to see him do that after so many years in the league. I think Pronger brought his stick up too high, but I really wouldn't be suprised if the league didn't suspend him. Just keep in mind, if any idiot Ducks fan on here says they enjoyed seeing Holmstrom get hit, they are just tools. I hate seeing people take cheap shots like that. I expect better from Niedermayer, but I guess Scott is the only one with real respect for other players. -

^My baby formula is just about ready. Like I've said before, even if we are eliminated, I'm sticking around on this forum. As a new hockey fan, I'm intrigued by NHL history, and I love their fans. I decided to join the forum where I expected to find passionate fans, and I'm not dissapointed. Hopefully, Anaheim can keep up with you guys to make it a series, but if not, I find it beneficial for myself to stick around and break my reputation as a hockey "noob." -
We're happy to have given this gift to you, it took no real effort, as you can see. DUCKS IN 2!
-
Hey guys! I unfortunately didn't get to watch the game, I was busy getting raped by something. Oh yeah, that something is a proper noun that you guys just happen to love. Excuse me while I drown myself.
-
I'm obviously a greenhorn in hockey when I didn't realize you guys played the Avs in the 2002 WCF. I bet there were a ton of you that loved that. Sorry for the off topic, but I love hockey rivalries.
-
It is definitely an indication of my playoff/hockey inexperience, but I never knew about this tradition. All the beards I see on both teams now make so much more sense.
-
Oh man, that's a bummer that we lost him. I consider Kunitz a vital part of our offense, and now we definitely need our young guys to step up. Otherwise, the Detroit train has a potential to streamroll us.
-
Hey, I'm a Ducks fan as well, but I disagree with the notion that Detroit is waving the white flag. It may look like Anaheim is the team with all the finesse, but Detroit doesn't put up with that. Their defense is frustrating our guys, especially Pronger, whose PP dominance (he has been great offensively in the postseason PP) is being shut down by an excellent defensive effort. It's nice to see this series not end up in a sweep finally, as it looks like both of these teams are playing with overwhelming passion and confidence. These teams have only played 2 games, and yes this series is short, but I don't think any side is indicating they are going to just "give up". This is what I call playoff hockey.
