And I agree with that in a way. The Kings have the history so they've had longer to gain fans. But, if they continue to play as horribly as they have been, they'll continue to lose fans. And yes, a lot of my friends decided to go with the Sharks over the Kings due to the lack of playoff representation and Cup-Winning. Give the Ducks some time. It's hard to build anything up in only 13 years in SoCal

Tampa has one team and the other team is about 4 hours south of it. IDK how many people they had turn out, but hockey is HUGE here in Tampa. They call it 'Hockey Bay' for a reason. The only other teams they have to compete with are the Rays and the Bucs, who both suck (the Bucs as of last season anyway) It's not too hard for them to bring in fans. They have rinks around near where the Bolts play so the fans are able to play without long travel. In Anaheim you have one rink. Then another rink in Riverside and another in Escondido. There aren't many around in Anaheim. Every city around Tampa has their own rink within driving distance (less than 20 minutes) And FUUFNF, I never even agreed with Anaheim being a hockey town. Detroit is and always will be Hockeytown. Anaheim won't be unless we win about 20 more Stanley Cups. But for people to claim that no one lives and dies with this team, I'd like to see your proof, because I sure as hell do. I got in a fight at my hockey practice with one of the guys because he was giving me crap about the Ducks. You can't deliver absolutes. I know hockey, I know the Ducks. The only reason why I wasn't there was because I couldn't afford a plane ticket to get out Anaheim. I think the Kings should go to Winnepeg. Their fans are starting to bail out on them. All my friends that were once Kings fans their entire lives are about sick of it and are becoming Ducks or Sharks fans.

As long as things don't get too out of hand and I'm not told to STFU cuz I'm a teenage-SoCal-girl who 'doesn't know s*** about hockey' I'll be around. I like this board. It's the only board I'm a member of for a team I'm not a fan of

San Jose and LA would never cheer and they were around longer. That's one of the MANY MANY MANY reasons why the Wings have so much support. They don't have any other teams to deal with in the same state, let alone within an hour of each other. We're divded between three teams and the Ducks are the youngest. Add that up and we kinda end up with less supporters. SJ gets NoCal all to it's self and LA and the Ducks have to battle over SoCal. I would have been there, but I couldn't afford a plane ticket and I had a game yesterday during the celebration.

I remember him saying "The reffing was bad, but I'm not going to complain since we advanced."

I was under the impression there were 20K. People left earlier due to traffic and got there late due to traffic. We're not going to turn out one million people, but 15K isn't a small crowd. Just because the entire state of California didn't show up doesn't mean we don't deserve it. And there wouldn't have been any more people if the Kings had won it. The people who own the Kings just don't give a damn, ask their fans. Where the party was, it's not the largest area in the world. I'm not making an excuse for it only being 15K, but we couldn't fit the '1 million' that showed up to your parade.
-
They were expecting anywhere from 15K to 20K. I don't know where you got only 10K from...
-
That's one guy who says that. There are more than 20,000 fans. I wont be there, thats one fan that wasn't at the arena and is a fan. Don't make such assumptions, please
-
And I don't care about your opinion
-
C'mon! If he's goin' anywhere in FL it's definitely Tampa! Don't worry, they both said after the game they weren't leaving this time ...
-
ROTFLOL! Thanks for the laugh I don't think it was the skill of Pronger so much that was the missing piece, but the amount of confidence he brought to his team. He allowed the Ducks to be comfortable enough to go to that next level and not worry so much about possible mistakes. We can win without Pronger, we've shown that. But the confidence that is brought to the team with his name on the roster is irreplaceable.
-
ROTFLOL! I don't think Mrs. Pronger would like that too much Aww, but Perry is such a sweetheart! He is the nicest, quietest guy you'll meet off the ice. If anyone is going to 'get it', give it to Getzy. He was picking on me

Thats in the VIP tent (I assume) so they're all either staff, press or family. I don't see any players there, although it does look like Steve Carroll (radio guy) standing in front of him. I might be wrong though

Oh, I'll definitely enjoy it! From all the way in Florida And you can come after us, but you gotta catch us first

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
Duckette replied to Sleight's topic in General
I honestly have no clue. I've only been to Vegas once and that was during my most recent move to Cali back in 2000. Good counter point, and I totally agree. A HUGE to expansion! 30 is a good number -
RW, I hate you with the passion of 1,000 white hot suns.... You LUCKY DOG!

Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East

Actually, hockey in Las Vegas has always had great turnouts! The Kings play preseason games there and they're sold out 99.9% of the time (I haven't been. The trip wasn't worth it, plus it was the Kings ) They had outdoor games during the Gretzky days and the fans would show. A market there would do well, but I don't know about people playing, just watching. But, I agree. With a salary cap that's miraculously going up and low ratings, the league needs to wait until they're no longer in a decline to add more franchises. I swear, this whole league is going to end up folding under the glorious lead of Gary Buttman -
I totally know how that feels. It's the worst feeling in the world (or one of them) 2006 playoffs were a nightmare for me and many Ducks fans, although, even that can't compare to this. I'm not trying to gloat, I hope you all know that. I'm not one to brag or anything like that. No need to apologize! I was glad to get that out No, there are people who have their views and I'm not always going to agree. Thanks for the congrats! It means a lot!

Yes, and now she's confined to house arrest in that horrid home! What a joke!

There's no parade (in SoCal traffic? Are you kidding?) They never have parades. So they're having a huge blowout part at the Pond on Saturday. And yes, apparently Paris Hilton is important, serving her whole 3 days in prison The fans that the Ducks do have definitely deserve this. There are many who have waited much longer than I have and are cherishing this (though, I doubt they cherish it more than me ) The Ducks will be in the shadow of the Kings until next season. Soon the Ducks will be recognized. SoCal loves a winner, so if they start of strong next season, they'll steal some media attention. The Samuellis (owners) are moving in the right direction!

Basically, Ray's performance reflected his team. He was solid when his team was, but struggled when his team did. That's just a sign that he's a young goalie. He's well on his way to becoming a steady, solid, consistent goaltender in this league.

I hope they end up being like tampabaylightning.com or lakings.com. They've got really nice looking sites and are always updated.

Aww, but if I ranted there I wouldn't get all these loving responses!

1. I'd like for you to know I was born in San Diego. I'm not a northern tans-plant 2. I don't see how I'm being an ass hole, since I didn't generalize all fans and quite frankly, you weren't one of the fans that that comment was directed at. 3. I hate the Dodgers 4. I will NEVER forget what occurred last night, so don't even think that. Oh, and that member that said those things about me, apologized and took it back. 5. I never called you all 'classless assholes'. I believe I said 'Several fans are showing a lack of class.' 6. Why am I not celebrating? Because no one in Florida is paying attention to the Ducks at 11:36 PM 7. I wasn't criticizing you until I saw this, and only a select few. I was congratulating the great season for the Wings and the class of several fans. 8. I don't know of anyone, except for maybe some people on here, that think I'm a moron. But, what ever. 9. You need to re-read my post and see that I never called anyone a classless *******. I said that some members showed a lack of class and I did my best not to blast anyone. I'm sorry you have such a problem with me, but whatever. SWF apparently gets my drift, and I hope several others will too. Sorry you are offended by what I said, because I didn't mean to offend anyone, just trying to get some people to realize how Ducks fans feel. I still wish good luck to your Wings in the future.

Which is why I did my best not to generalize. I understand completely, but I didn't go off on the Devils or the Oilers like this (although, I did got on a Roloson tirade much like the tirade you have against Pronger) I do not use this moment of whatever you want to call it as a judgment on this franchise or website. I do enjoy it here. This is the only opposing board I am a member of, and the amount of class and respect shown by the majority of the members is why I stick around.
