Should the Wings target UFA-to-be Giguere?
Duckette replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
You're welcome to do so. But the GM is just a normal human being With power over of about 25 NHL players And I'm not a special person either, just a normal teenager That's not what I meant at all. I knew someone was going to bring this up. Neither Hebert nor Shtalenkov were around as long as Jiggy or as successful. Now, they're pre-my era. I was only a few years old when they were in net and didn't become a fan until '03. Jiggy has been a solid fall back guy through-out the years. Maybe that makes a little more sense.... -

I find it interesting that every offseason, Jiggy is going just about everywhere, but yet he's the only goalie that Anaheim has every really had. He'll stay. Everyone just likes to imagine he's going to leave. It's all an illusion! -

I'm like that too, but I love Giguere -

Exactly. He even said he would take less to stay in Anaheim because his "heart wants to say here [Anaheim]." He became who he is in Anaheim, he won't give it up that easily. Plus, he lives in a great community (just about all of them are great in the OC) -
Exactly. The only reason he only signs one year deals is so that he doesn't tie up the Ducks with money in the event he gets injured and ends his career or something like that. I'm pretty sure Mr. Feaster is going to have to let one of his D-men go, and after the playoffs I think it will be Sarich (Just my opinion) You might have your wish But I personally am not a Sarich fan. He's not that great IMO.

If Jiggy leaves Anaheim it'll be a complete shock to just about everyone. I am close friends with Tampa's GM who was very interested in acquiring Giguere last season and was thinking about it this offseason, but told me that getting Giguere out of Anaheim would cost him about $1.5 - $2 mill on top of the contract he deserves. He loves Anaheim and isn't going to leave easily. Especially when his wife just gave birth to their first child, their child is going to need surgery and the Doctors already are acquainted with the child's condition. His wife loves it there too. Plus, if you like Hasek, you'll hate Giguere. Two complete opposites. -
Well, I really enjoyed the time I was allowed to spend on this board. I really enjoyed talking with the classy and arguing with the classless. I wish your Wings all the best next season and seasons to come! This series was great and it only strengthened my paranoia of the Winged Wheel and this club's ability to battle back no matter what. I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy the Stanley Cup Finals! I know I will! -Duckette

I figure I'll leave when this thread gets infested by trolls. But I enjoy talking to nice people, and you've all been wonderful in here (well, most of you). I am a good role model, aren't I? But are you sure you wanna learn from a 16 year-old? I'm sure that I don't want to switch to your side. Are you sure you don't want to come from the dark side? But I really appreciate the kind words!

Oh Lord no! I'm an insane goalie, but I'm not that insane! Me + Canadian Hockey Board = OH LORD! But thank you for understanding what I was saying!
-
Thank you for sticking up for me! I'm glad so many members here realize I'm not here with the hopes to bash you all. I know what it's like to come so far and lose just like that. I wouldn't rub that in with you guys because I didn't want others rubbing it in with me. And I wouldn't mind a different outcome. Maybe Ducks in 4 I haven't been scared off. I just had to shower and get ready for bed. I have my last two finals tomorrow and then I'm done with Junior year! YAY! I'll DEFINITELY enjoy the SCF! My teammates are all Buffalo bandwagoner fans (1 or 2 are actual fans) so it's great to rub it in! I'll do my best to come back around. One that they don't deserve? Is that a compliment or an insult? You know you want the Ducks to win, just for me! So that I can feel ok with being stuck in Florida during the Ducks best season EVER! That last part was hilarious.

I think it's some stupid joke than an idiot Ducks fan made up. I've never heard that either.
-
Thank you! Great job by your team! I honestly thought the Ducks would lose Game 6 and feared going back to the Joe for Game 7. The Red Wings are a great team and will always have my respect (and my hatred )
-
I was not rude to you. I merely said that if all you're going to do while we celebrate a win on our boards is complain and if you hate our boards so much, then you are welcome to leave. I didn't know that was classless appalling. I was trying to complement this board, but you have just defined why I want to leave. So thanks

That's funny!

Thanks! I too enjoy reading your posts! No, but I'm hoping that you crawl back into the hole you crawled out of. Good riddance to you too buddy.

I'm not trying to say that the Ducks are great. I don't ever expect you to do such and denounce your team. If you did, I'd ask you to go to your doctor and make sure you're alright. My point was that the Ducks didn't 'not' to deserve to win. Deserving to win the series is only determined by how many wins you get, not how you play necessarily (in the playoffs anyways). I admire all of you to stick up for your team as fervently as you all have been! I do the same when I am in the same position. I'm just trying to shed some light on the opposing aspect without blasting anyone.

Gordie Howe Hat Trick, good luck with getting me from the 'Dark Side'. It's too late for me..... Thanks for all the good wishes from everyone here. I will be sure to poke my head in from time to time. Summer in Florida gets REALLY boring after a while, but hopefully I'll be so excited over this upcoming series it won't matter much. Agalloch - Thanks for sticking up for me, and I don't blame you for not wishing good luck for my Ducks at all. When Edmonton beat us last season, I wanted the entire franchise to implode. Trust me, I understand And betterREDthandead, I will be sure to be back every so often. You can't keep me away too long

Why thank you! Disagreements are always so entertaining. They're what makes life life
-
Why thank you! I don't think I'll be joining the Sens board. Too much insanity. I'll stick to my own home for the SCF. I don't need all the added drama, but with summer break coming up, I will have more time on my hands.....JK Oh, and I'll try to keep a tight rope on Pronger, it'll just be hard to reach him from Florida
-
Ahh, so the classless showed up before the classy could get here. Interesting....
-
This personally bothers me. I was playing in a HS game against our school rivals and the game broke into an all out brawl (this is an no fighting league) and after it was said and done, we all still shook their hands and they beat us 8-1. My point is, no matter what you should shake hands. No one is an exception from the rules. Most Wings fans have been complaining that the Ducks were 'classless'. Last time I checked, not participating in the hand shake is classless too.

This is really disappointing. I was hoping to come on here and write how gracious Wings fans were and how they weren't acting like the Ducks absolutely suck. I wish you'd go back and read what you wrote. Cheaters? Suck? Cheap-shot artists? If we didn't deserve to win, we wouldn't have. We deserved to win because we finished and Detroit didn't. The BS calls went both ways. What about that phantom tripping call on O'Donnell? What about all the penalties we were given at the end of the game last night? Stop making excuses and trying to take everything away from the Ducks. If we were such a bad team, we wouldn't have been the 2nd seeded team, set the NHL record for longest opening streak without a regulation loss, most points after the first 16 games and broken 90% of our franchise records. Calling Giguere a cheater is BS too. If his pads WERE illegal, the NHL would have done something about it. You think you're the only fans to make those allegations? If his pads were illegal, the opposing team players would come out in the media and say something about it, and I think they've had a little bit of a better look at his pads than you have. This thread started out as a nice notion, but turned into a joke. These teams were equal, but Anaheim capitalized on their crappy/lucky opportunities and the 'fair' ones. Detroit didn't capitalize on their opportunities. The BS reffing went both ways, so wake up and smell the coffee. If the tables had been completely turned, everyone here would be talking about how the Wings annihilated the Ducks even though the Ducks had the better opportunities. The Ducks don't take cheap shots. What Pronger did was horrible, yes, but you act like Homer died. I do NOT support what Pronger did and think he deserved MUCH longer than a 1 game suspension, but what's done is done. Its the playoffs. Emotions run high, which is obvious from the way people act in this thread. I was hoping I could stay around, but it's apparent that Ducks fans are no longer welcome. So much for being 'Opposing Team-Fans Friendly'. Stop being sour about the loss and admit that the Ducks won the series without cheating. it was fair and square. If it had gone the media's way, the Ducks would have been swept, so it was obviously not rigged. There's always next season, so chill out. Let someone else in the West have a turn to be good for ONCE without trying to tear them down.

Hilarious. I too wonder who it is. I doubt Jiggy would file a law-suit, that would be pointless. Maybe it was red toilet paper. Well, whoever it was, that was messed up.
-
The thing about Jiggy is that he does his job adequately without having to be flashy about it. That's what I like.
-
That's not what I'm trying to do. You can't discount 6 Vezinas, what, 3 Harts and a Stanley Cup. I used to do the whole drop my stick and stop it with my blocker thing too. I'm just saying they play different games. If that wasn't directed towards me, then ignore me
