It was more around 14 million signing bonus and 12 million WCF bonus, plus his yearly low rate of 2 million for the next five years. He ended up recieving 28 Million that one year and he only palyed 1/4 of the year. He was a restricted free agent at the time and the Canes came up with a one of kind contract offer that the wings were forced to sign. I still curse Holland for not trading Fedorov in his last contract year. When everyone, including my self, who was a die hard fedorov fan, knew he didn't want to play in detroit anymore. So we lost him for nothing. The 14 and 12 Million may have been reversed, I can't recall because it was a long time ago. Either way that one hell of a yearly income for a hockey player in the late 90's

I think D MAC's tough days have passed him by a few years ago. At least as far as being on the ice goes.
-
Both were scapegoats! Nobody likes to be the scapegoats, So they left. Federov didn't want to play in detroit because the fans would bring up, that he wouldn't give it his all, and took nights off. When he wanted to play, he could hang with anyone. I think he had too many distractions in life. Shanny also left free willingly pobably because he was sick of the fans blaming him for early playoff exits and lack of playoff performances. You can score 40 goals in the regualar season, but if you don't show up in the playoffs. Then who cares? I don't think either had anything to do with money.

Anyone got the little folding schedule?

And where might this party store be at? -
hey now... I have a #69 jersey with the name dynamite on the back of it. Its not because I want to play for the wings. Its because as kids, my buddies would come over and we would play the old sega nhl game and create us as the superstars on the wings, and that was my name and #. The nickname dynamite just stuck with me. And the jersey was a gift from one of those buddies. Its not like I went out and purchased it myself or anything. But it is funny, when I wore it to a game in the WCF last year I had several people want to take a pictures of it. I guess they never saw a # 69 jersey before. Come on 7:00

I have them all, including the 12 inch yzerman cup, excluding the gordie howe one(s). But I'm on the look out for an old hanson brothers set (variant with blood) where the 3 brothers combine for a corner of the ice. Anyone knows where to find one. Please hit me up!!!!

Jiri Fischer, should he get his name on cup?
ifonlyicouldskate replied to jason_0931's topic in General
I don't think he got injured... His heart stopped ticking on the bench and he colapsed. If I remember correctly they never really found out why it happened, other than being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat prior. It is much to risky for him to make a comeback. After all its only a game! -

I think they should petition my name to be put on the cup. As I have worked hard to be able to afford to buy tickets to support them :flush: -
Official: Hasek announces retirement
ifonlyicouldskate replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Thank you Dominator For a guy I couldn't stand because he didn't play for us. I was so happy when we traded for Hasek, although I did miss kozlov a bit. You will me missed. Thanks for all the games. -
Thats why I switched to CBC! At least over there I only have to her Crosby's name less than 100 times compared to the 300 times NBC says. The more the media tries to force feed Crosby down my throat the more I will dislike the the silver spooned kid.
-
I heard on stoney and wojo that chelios will be back if holland wants him... He does not want to retire just yet. Maybe he will play to 50???? who knows???? as long as he can help our young Defensemen become studs then I'm all for it.

Most difficult playoff opponent
ifonlyicouldskate replied to Probert 5 For Fighting's topic in General
I would agree with nashville being the toughtest opponent by far. And it sucks because they get no credit or respect from the rest of the hockey world? Ellis was a beast. The Pittsburgh Crosby's were a close second only because they got there asses handed to them in the first 2 games and never gave up and battled to the end. That show character and heart. Dallas being third, I think they were just full of themselves, perhaps over confident because they beat the ducks and the sharks, but paid the price for all of the wear and tear. Then there is the injury riddled AVS the series that was suppose to be all that, and well, we all know what happend there. The coach was too stubborn to make the goalie switch that ended up costing the man his job. AND NOW WE ARE THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD! -
I stubbed my toe back in the predators series. I was throwing a temper tantrum and kicked the coffee table because FSN was playing a Tigers/Yankee game and didn't cut over to the playoff game till the last second. Very scary time for me. almost life threating :rotflmao:
-
You may be right. She took me to numerous games this year. She just might be a keeper.
-
The Mule............. Who would of thought he would go on the tear that he did towards the end of the season and into the playoffs.
-
yes! Isn't it great
-
I would like him back, but with the way the man plays the game and the wear and tear he has put his body threw, who could blame him if he went out on top?
-
I would like to say sorry to my best friend Aaron for not taking him to playoff games that I went too. Instead I went with my Girlfriend who bought the tickets and wouldn't give up her seat :starwars2:

Sundin may test free agency; wants big money
ifonlyicouldskate replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Sundin is a great player, but I think his best years are behind him and he would just be stealing years from any team he signed with. He should take a pay cut and stick with the leafs, which is where he wants to play anyways. -

Your most memorable 2008 Playoff moment?

I have many, I like Lids goal on ellis from the other side of the ice. That was great! Mac's goal was emotional. Franzens hat trips against the AVS. what a series he had. Knocking out the Stars again. And hopefully not having to here the name CROSBY again until next year :beerbuddy: -
I want to thank the Crosby's for one hell of a series. After the first 2 games, I was shocked when they didn't show up. I don't know if it was all the hype or nerves or what it was, but I'm glad they showed up to make this and intresting series. Now that NBC has drilled Crosby into my brain by saying his name 387 times a game. Sorry I had to switch to CBC where I only heard it 87 times. I almost forgot that this is the Pittsburgh Penguins and not the Crosby's Penguins. Hopefully one day the rest of the team will emerge from his shadows. I prefer to judge players by watching them play the game, not by media telling me who is great. That only makes me hate him. But after finally getting a good look at his game. I have to give him and the rest of his coat tails some props. You had one hell of a season!
