It HAS to be the shots we take. Drapes was in a 2 on 1 back there with I think Flip, and more importantly the net, wide open on the right side, and instead just shot it right at Ellis's chest.

Once again Bettman shows his absolute hatred and personal vendetta towards the Detroit Red Wings. He has absolutely no business make a statement like that, regardless of what mouthpiece it came from. If I were Illitch, I'd show him my contempt of him every time I met him. (Preferrably with a good swift kick in the cojones, but thats just me.) It's no wonder the NHL is so FUBARED. The Wings are one of, if not THE premiere organization in the league, and instead of allowing them the respect they deserve, like most other leagues, they are beaten and battered by the head office at every opportunity, while the higher ups bend over backwards to service armpit franchises like Nashville. More and more, I'm wondering if the NHL will even survive Bettman's tenure.

Maybe we can get the guy w/ the whistle and that dude in Calgary w/ the air horn thats at EVERY game, and set them both on fire. We can call it a service to fans in both arenas. Seriously, if I was at the Joe, and some j-hole behind/next/in front of me was blowing an air horn every 30 seconds...he'd be eating it in about 3 minutes. C'mon people. Where's the violence when you need it?

They shouldn't have tried to sit on a one goal lead for over half a period. The Wings are made to put the puck in the net...they shouldn't have tried to turn into a poor man's trap when they're no good at it. If the Wings would have played THEIR game, and kept the Preds in their zone and on their heels, then those two goals prolly wouldn't have happened. Maybe, but prolly not. Oh well. I always felt Wings in 5...and I don't like sweeps.

Nashville did numerous hits of the same nature in game two. Datsyuk in particular got levelled by one of them right by the bench. A) Nashville shouldn't be so shocked by their own tactics being used against them, and B) If it goes one way, i.e. suspension, then it should go equally in the other direction.

That guy literally called Hasek "a flake", in the same sentence, on national television. Seriously, NBC should do some homework in to what teams are the most popular nationwide before it decides to hire a bunch of Wings-bashing loud mouths. Better yet...give equal time....give Mickey Redmond a shot in the booth every so often. I've had it with Detroit teams, ALL Detroit teams, getting bashed by national announcers.

I don't really have that big of an issue with the games result. We got a point, and by having the score tied, or being down, St. Louis never went into goon mode like they always do when they're losing. Nobody got hurt. Good enough for me.
-
This is the one topic that I disagree with Babcock's coaching about. This is a meaningless game. We know from history that St. Louis is going to be out there running our guys, cheap shotting, and generally gooning it up. This should be exactly the kind of game where a statement is made to the rest of the league that this isn't the soft Wings team of old. There's no reason Drake, D-Mac, AND Downey shouldn't be playing. Send the "D-Line" after Kariya and see how long the Blues keep that garbage up.

Dang it! You beat me to it.
-
Reading a Ducks forum is akin to stabbing yourself in the head with a fork.
-
Well, with Perry out, someone had to step up and be the teams cheapest cheap-shotter. Looks like Kunitz drew the short straw. (Or the long straw...who know how things work on that team.)

Or, you know...HIT A POST. <looks in Maltby's direction>

Yeah, they do.

Anyone who doesn't think Wings fans have a right to ***** about bad reffing on a regular basis need to look what just happened. Apparently screwing us just once on a play wasn't enough...now they're stacking bad calls.
-
The Joe is going to EXPLODE the second he steps foot on the ice.
-
What bothers me is that now you have FOUR guys out there getting in the way instead of two, and STILL not one of them can find the puck. How the hell do you miss it bouncing off the net? The whole damn arena saw it, it was on the jumbo, and yet the 4 guys responsible for paying attention apparently can't see it. FAIL.
-
I think it's Sunday now. Apparently there was supposed to be a DMac autograph signing in GR on Sunday at 1, and it was canceled because he'll be in Detroit.
-
I'm surprised the amount of hypocrisy in that statement didn't actually explode and kill the entire Ducks team. What a tool. "Hey, it's ok if I try to kill someone by slamming their head into the boards at full speed, but I'll be damned if they should be allowed to punch my teammate in his sore jaw."
-
He's right, only in that their play WORKS, but that illustrates a few things. 1) The NHL is pathetically bush league that they tolerate that. Everybody knows the Ducks get away with murder. Even the few fans of the Ducks that know anything about hockey have to admit that. Things either ARE or ARE NOT penalties. Let Anaheim be down on a 5 on 3 for the first period. Let the score be 15-0 by the first intermission. If they're going to commit infractions w/ impunity, let them pay the price. See how long that garbage lasts when they lose every game by 10 or more. I'd imagine they'd learn to play the right way pretty quick. The way things are allowed to be now makes hockey a joke. 2) I think the league is alienating anyone not living in Southern California, and they don't really care. I love hockey, but I don't even want to watch a game when someone plays the Ducks. Don't get me wrong...I like a big hit as much as the next guy, and I love it when people drop the gloves and go at it. But I like a CLEAN big hit, not intent to injure. And if two guys drop em, then 2 go to the box. 3) It used to be you'd have one or two goons on the team that kept the peace. Now, the Stanley Cup Champions are a team comprised almost entirely of goons. And every night they take the ice, they're assisted by the zebras. You KNOW going in, that your team isn't going to get a fair deal. Why would anyone want to watch that?
-
At what point do you, as a coach, say, Enough is enough, and take your guys and go home? Babcock's got to know that Calgary gets away with injuring his players regularly...whats the point of playing them if you lose half your team?
-
Exactly the reason I can't watch. I get too angry. Calgary won't be happy til everyone on our team is injured. And, like always, they're allowed to do whatever the hell they want save actually murder a Wing on the ice.
-
It's actually twice as worse. Not only do the Wings NOT get the PP opportunity, but the Ducks illegal play is interfering with the Wings' ability to play the game.
-
You guys should know by now that Too Many Men ONLY gets called AGAINST the Wings. Opposing teams are allowed to do it with impunity...even use it to score goals. Sheesh, haven't you guys been paying attention?
