    Does home ice really matter?

I don't think it its as important this round as it was against Calgary and their suspiciously-dominant home ice record. That being said, I'm glad game 5 is at home.

Funniest comment from a Ducks fan

I think the only time you see the dreaded "makeup" call, is when the refs call something, and KNOW they made the wrong call, but they can't overturn it by that point, so they try to equalize it by calling an opposing chincey penalty. And even then...its not something they would hand out if they'd made the right call in the first place. Your assertion that makeup calls is "an unwritten rule in the NHL" may quite possibly be the most uniniformed statement about the game of hockey I've ever read on a message board, and we're all a little dumber for having read that. I suggest you study the game a little bit more before trying to hang with seasoned hockey fans.

    Holmstrom Hit from Behind

I'm pretty sure the ref didn't catch what happened as it happened, just the aftermath; they just knew something bad happened. Rob did cross the width of the ice to make that hit, so maybe that spurred their decision.

    Holmstrom Hit from Behind

Agree completely...though my faith in the NHL making the right decision in ANY matter has been severely tested as of late.

    Holmstrom Hit from Behind

The NHL needs to do something about this. The rules need to be changed. That was a clear dirty hit on Homer, by a team pissed off and looking to injure. Needer should have to sit until Homer can come back. Right now there is basically nothing that stops a team from eliminating opposing players that are hurting them. OOOooo, they get 5 minutes in the box, we could lose Homer for the rest of the playoffs. Hmmm, who gets off easy there?

    Tickets and NHL officiating...

I don't know if anyone else is starting to feel this way. I paid $225 a piece for my 2 tickets, my mom the same for hers, so for our foursome to tonights game, it cost us $900. Now I love my team. And I love to support my team...but I'm getting to the point where I can't justify paying that price to support the NHL when it consistantly does whatever it can to make it harder for my team to win. I don't expect things to be handed to the Wings, but I do expect a fair chance to win, and we all know thats the not reality of the situation. My father in law has already given up on it...he won't buy any more tickets...I think we're on the verge of that as well.

    Red Wings Charity Pucks

Yeah, that was a great deal there. We got one, and pulled a Z on the first try. (I think they said there were 10 Yzerman's in the batch)

    Tickets and NHL officiating...

Thats kind of the point I was trying to make, and it took a Ducks fan to get it. It's not about bad reffing that "causes" my team to lose. I'm talking about bad reffing across the board, in every way, shape, and form. Yes, I do feel that the Wings get more than their fair share of BS calls, but I'm sure fans of other teams feel the same way. The problem is, it seems the reffing is getting much worse, much more inconsistant, and at a far greater pace lately than ever. Everyone of us can probably come up with a handful of extremely weak or just plain wrong calls that argueably could have changed the outcome of the game. Doesn't matter what team you root for. And it goes all the way to the top, starting in Toronto. There are a set of rules that this league supposed to governed by, and when you charge damn near $1000 for a night out for four, I damn well expect them to follow those rules. I want a fair game, thats all. Is that too much to ask? Apparently yes.

    Tickets and NHL officiating...

You want to pony up the $900 bucks? Go right ahead, you can have my seats. And keep your f-bombs to yourself...who do you think you are, Corey Perry? Absolutely not, and that wasn't the point of my post. I'm saying if I'm going to pay that price for tickets, I want to see a fair game, and it's becoming clearer and clearer that it's not a fair game. I just wondered if anyone else thought that way. I guess not.
