I like it. Line up the different teams a smidge better and is desktop worthy. Edit: nevermind it's on my desktop already I couldn't wait.

Dear god hear comes eva's 1998 was the worst cup team ever so Ozzie was the savior post. (oops took to long typing) Shanny - not a rental, but more of a leased player. No rafter for you. Osgood - Every argument I hear is stats and team longevity. It's never about stealing games. It's never about great saves. Possible but not probable for the rafters. Fedorov - Statistically outstanding, but nobody likes to remember the drama and primadonna attitude he had in non-contract years. Everyone loves to focus on his stats and rationalize his contract negotiation tactics but... ownership will change before his number's retired. Lidstrom - no brainer

would this then take the one way rivalry to the next level? Meh towards either opponent, but I prefer first round matchups in division when I can get them.
-
Fitting that they play each other again to end the season
-
fixed not that I'm hating

only 6 of the 21 President's Trophy winners have won the cup. Detroit has taken it 5 times (not including this season) winning the cup only once. There's only been two first round exists though for the President's Trophy winner. St.Louis in 2000 and Detroit in 2006. Cool trivia: Detroit is the only team to win the Trophy more than twice. Montreal has not won the Trophy Detroit is second to Montreal with 17 first-overall finishes. Montreal has 21. Edit: The only two awards that a Detroit player/team hasn't one are The Rocket Richard Trophy and the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award

I would fully expect to see playoff games on NHLN this year.

seriously?

I think it takes the prank to a whole new level. (And I'm so glad I can hang up quickly) Matt you owe me 1 cell phone minute!
-
The biggest April Fools day prank of all... would be if this were legit. Largest prank pulled by the league yet.
-
too much time on your hands Matt... Swap the little ceasers and the winged wheel though... 2010 NHL
-
If I didn't know better, I'd say you intentionally walked those puns...

and yet small market teams are still complaining about losing money and not being able to compete (not directed at you eva)

Nope bottom 10 in home attendance in the league for the last decade. Better road attendance percentages, but I think that's a product of their division. Add to it that they're fourth fiddle in the region behind both New York teams and the Flyers... Hopefully moving to downtown Newark will give a lift to attendance instead of the new stadium boost they have this year.
-
You know, I moved to New Jersey a year ago and met a Devils fan. Hopefully, one day I'm going to meet another one.

NFM, Here's a start to begin chewing over. KK link

After the initial shock of 8 divisions I started imagining the hatred that would develop in each division in this format.
-
Could I interest you in an older format? Return to having four divsions. 4 teams make it per division. First two rounds are in division, then conference, then cup. Ideally to make it balanced you would have to add/contract two teams.

don't worry grasshopper. One day you will learn the art of greasy palm and sweet talking.
-
Actually, if Draper was wearing a cage a neck injury would have been highly likely. Visors are becoming a defacto rule. Over half the players in the league currently wear one and the number is rising each year.

So I'm watching the San Jose/Dallas game since I'm up and it's kinda dull. Then the puck goes in behind Turco. Pavelski comes across the top of the crease looking to buzz the near post and go after the puck. Happens all the time right? Well Turco sees him coming and lifts his paddle up over waist level smacking the San Jose player in the face. Now I'm assuming it's an accident and Turco was just trying to slow him down, but... Marty! You got some 'splainin' to do.
-
I swore that went in and couldn't figure out why they were still skating. Looked like he missed by less than half a puck. Aside: I really need to get HD.

The first (and second) of three penalties for Dallas in OT. SJ scored during a 5 on 3 after a tripping or hooking call.
