    League Revenues

The Canadian teams play their players in US dollars. Their cap is based in US dollars. The exchange rate only benefits/hurts the players in regards to when they spend their money and what country their paycheck goes to. If the bank that the player's paycheck runs on a currency other than US currency then it is converted to that nations respective currency at the time of deposit. Also, every withdraw also gets converted to that banks currency if needed. For example, Jason Blake is an American playing for Toronto. For arguments sake his bank is still in Minn. and the leafs deposit his $4 million US a year into it. Whenever he's in the US and withdraws money (ATM, debit card, mortgage, etc.) the money is taken out in US currency. Now when he's in Canada and withdraws money (ATM, debit card, mortgage, etc.) the money being taken out is converted from Canadian to US currency based on that days exchange rate and then removed. Using your example of the Canadian dollar being worth 10% more. If he were to buy a pop for 1 Canadian dollar, $1.10 US is removed from his account. Scenario #2: Jason Blake has his paycheck going to a Canadian bank account instead of an American one. His paycheck is converted from US to Canadian currency at the time of deposit. Whenever he withdraws money from that account while in Canada nothing extra is done to it. However, when in America the amount being withdrawn is converted from us to Canadian currency and processed. edit for spelling

    Hartigan Called Up

If I remember right Kopecky is hurting also so he might be the next in line to sit as well.

    Downey Love

Out of curiosity is there anyone on the roster that doesn't have to clear waivers to be sent back down to GR? I'm assuming so, but am curious if I'm wrong.

    Down with the Instigator Rule

But in Philadelphia the safety nets aren't there to protect the fans from flying pucks. They're to protect the players from the fans.

    Hartnell at it again!

Edit: after watching the video and not just reading the discription I am surprised that he didn't get closer to 10 games with his track record.

    2007 College Football Season Talk

My two big problems with a playoff system is that it could kill much of the regular season interest like it has for NCAA basketball. My other problem is that it won't fix the "problem" with a clear cut number 1. In just about every sport's playoffs you still have issues with who wins the championship. "Team X doesn't deserve to be there because Team Y is the better team"

I'm willing to bet that he'll get cap max offer... and that he will be out of DC.

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

1 Definitely an issue. Difficult to address short term due to the makeup of the current team. 2 This one worries me, but I'm hoping for improvements during the season. I contribute this as a problem of pairing chemistry and the relative inexperience half of the blueline still. Leaning more to inexperience though. 3 Is it just me or has quality shot selection gone down dramatically since the lockout and could this also be contributed to playing largely the same system since Bowman and other teams have adapted? Something I noticed last year and the handful of games I have seen this year is that they seem to be aiming for the logo. Or at least the logo magically appears by the time the shot is off. Side note: I would like to see Sammy go to a wooden stick, or at least change to a different, more accurate, stick. 4 Depth is an issue and sadly I don't see it getting fixed at the trade deadline (Even though we will get a rent-a-player). ZDH not being able to do produce nearly as well when separated is a major issue. Even though it's an unpopular opinion the line has to be broken up throughout the season. They need to develop better chemistry with the other players on the team. I also find it interesting that there is more positive talk surrounding Drake, Downey, Kopecky, Ellis than Sammy, Hudler, Filppula, Franzen. I do like the move of putting Hudler on the proverbial fourthline and second unit PP. I feel that this is a better fit for him being used as a PP specialist. Folks might ***** because he is being "snubbed" in minutes and yada-yada, but he is on the PP and in the new NHL that still makes him a busy Swede. The depth problems may also be in part due to the teams makeup since the 2002 cup. In particular prelockout when player development was used more for deadline trades. Since the lockout player development was rushed when holes needed to be filled and it shows now on the ice. (Please note that this entire paragraph might be wrong I am too lazy to research right now) Hope all that made sense...

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

Yeah I was curious because in a normal 40 shot night it seems that 20 hit the logo, 5 to the blocker, 10 to the pads, and 5 to the glove... not including the 20 that are going to the fan in section 126 row 3 seat 4 of course Side note Datsyuk's line is -2

11/24 GDT: Blue Jackets 3, Red Wings 2 (SO)

Because they choose their shots like really old people drive... well except for Sammy but his don't count seriously though since I'm not watching... I'm going to guess that most pucks are hitting the BJ goalie in the logo as usual?

    Does this statistic exist?

After giving this some more thought... The Wings have since the mid-90s been pouring on the shots and scoring chances so the stat you're looking for might be misleading. Hell, I even remember fanatics bitching about the 2002 team not putting the puck in the net often enough

    Russian One?

per nhl.com there are 33 players born in the country that currently is Russia under contract with an NHL team

    Does this statistic exist?

hahaha al48 I like it but I worry that your numbers were filtered to show your point of view. Zeke - the NHL might, but their public stats need to still evolve a little bit IMO

Anyone else think Gordie Howe is a little money hungry?

Don't forget though that being a pro athlete wasn't a year round commitment back then. Training camp was really meant to get you back into shape then more than the tuneup that it is now. Could playing back in the day be more like a traveling league similar to many here currently play on?
  21. Still don't like or turnstiles... I mean tackles. Fixing that will help out the offense quite a bit... On defense... secondary upgrades are needed. Overall like the team... small, but swarms to the ball.

    Best Match-ups for the Finals

Best for the league... Detroit or Chicago from the West NYR, Philly, Toronto, or Ottawa from the East Any pairing of these teams would be a large draw for the league. CHI/NYR could draw as well as DET/NYR IMHO if not better.

Write in campaign for Ozzie this year?

I didn't want to do it. But he's played too well for me not to have wrote him in.

    Canadiens retired another number

as "math inaccurate" Time wise is a-ok. wiki lists it 0-9 as well. wiki with makes sense to be because 1990 wasn't part of the 80s. Nor, when I turn 30 will I look back and consider it part of my 20s.
