Out of curiousity why do you think that the PA would say no? I think the NFL does this as well. It might help short term but would cause worse cap hell IMO.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! couldn't resist

Opie, Can't deny that, but please also don't forget that Hudler/Sammy are also still projected to be on the second PP unit. So time on the ice won't be around the 5min mark. Well that is assuming that the NHL doesn't go away from penaltyfest '07.

Something else interesting... with the most recent equipment shrink goals per game went up a full goal and that's without shrinking the pads back down to 10" like they were in the 80s.

I see what your getting at, but as long as defensemen can push folks to the outside and keep the game on perimeter then the game defensively won't really change. With that said, I think that it would make the game appear more like a continual powerplay. Quick edit to add that, according to dropyourgloves.com, NHL GPG average is down so far this year to 5.63. Which is the lowest thus far post lockout and only a net gain of a half goal from the last season before the lockout.

I see what you are saying, but I would counter with the fact that many shots are already being blocked or attempted block by players.

Perhaps the most psycho and bipolar fans I've been around yet.

they're supposed to be coming back next season.

Best place to park/shuttle for Lions games?

sorry this is so late, but should you get to go again. My uncle normally parks in Eastern Market and tailgates there too. -
grigs during training camp that or lang

It wouldn't surprise me to see him play again. However, since he's not working out how he used to yet... either way I'm more curious which player he's working with on the team right now.

Why Are the Red Wings So Good Year After Year?
vangvace replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
Little bit of column A, little bit of column B, with a heavy dosing of scouting overseas, the Ilich family, and Devellano. -
Yes, but I'm in Jersey

I thought it was a multiyear deal for at least that much money per that he was looking for? I hope Detroit doesn't sign him. Mainly for personal reasons though. Although if we could do a sign and trade before he plays for Detroit then I'm all for it.

Agrred Here's an article that talks about hits from behind. Hits from behind It doesn't come into play on this hit in particular, but these type of hits in general. I think it might work well, but then again with modern tech I wonder if the dashers and glass could be changed to remove the rail and/or give a little more.

Downie and Boulrice recieved 20+ games because they pruposefully went out of thier way to cause an injury. While pissed off I might add. Jones, not so much. As for Jones being on the Flyers. The only way/time it should matter in something like this is if the league were to decide to take action on the GM or coach.

try nhl.com's stat machine

Nice arena, but kinda reminds me of about a half dozen others sad to say. I wonder if I can get tickets...

Yes the NHL is the most poorly run league. Some of that is also due to the fact that less than a handful of owners have been around since 1994. Let alone having continuity at the BOG meetings. With that out of the way... No league focuses on the hardcore fans. Those are the people that it is a given will bring in revenue. What every league, or business for that matter, is trying to do is bring in new fans and their money. It's the one or two gamers that push revenue up from expected (season tickets, etc).

Mandatory move when a player gets hurt. And he doesn't have a history of dirty play. Just like you can't go in front of the camera and express joy in a blow-out. Spector's article After more thought, I would rather see the Flyers punished over this kid.
-
If the first three are taken into account, then bad on the league. If he gets more than 5 games I would fight it.

Downey had visa issues as well. Interesting points. Thank you, I was too lazy to look the other night. With the theme of "give the kids a shot" it may well work out better overall that his being here didn't pan out this year. There are alot of kids and only a finite amount of ice time for them to cut their teeth on.

Correct, but it's good to start thinking about this now since Franzen may be back soon
