Relatively recent home grown starting goalies for the Wings include only Osgood and Cheveldae. Kinda scary if you ask me. Will Howard be next? I doubt it, but haven't seen the kid nearly enough to say that with certainty. Bryzgalov, Osgood (even though I don't like him), Lalime (backup), Lundqvist are all viable options. Fluery too, but we couldn't afford to pry hime out of Pitt. Lundqvist will be playing somewhere else next year because the Rangers won't be able to afford him.

I think the number dropped to around $90K a year instead of the around $500K or more playing in the NHL.

With Drake's injury I would say Downey with how he is currently playing. If Drake's healthy then I would be inclined to give the nod to him.
-
I wonder if it's because they lost the Whale?

I have a feeling that it will be Ellis, Kopecky and Downey rotating through. Well, unless Hudler doesn't get his act together anyway. Depending on how the season unfolds Downey could set a career high for games in a season.

I like the fact we still hold his rights. Hopefully now that he knows what will be expected of him that he will be properly prepared should he come back in the future.

A. prob a few B. it's about the bling and ballers C. the five fans that might have cared just quit watching
-
and nhl.com doesn't have him on the ice for any of the goals either, but he's a +5 there too
-
Never know what's in the water bottle. He did have alot of time on his hands.
-
quick put Hudler in, maybe he can get a goal too I hope I don't have Nabby in goal tonight for FH

Wow Wings lead the league in away wins since the lockout... good on them.

It's part of the mandatory standardization of NHL music movement. On another note, I like the yahoo feed but am getting annoyed with people standing and walking up and down the aisles

Did anyone see Downey fistbump the linesman from the box. Man got some love from the zebra.

I hope you haven't bought a new EDGE Jersey yet

Cam Ward said that they make him look fat. The change in materials could make it seem/be a little more difficult to move arms into position on saves. By that I the difference in resistance from the tighter uniform. For example, moving in a tshirt as opposed to a thermal long sleeve shirt. My interpretation of collective source postings: The new jersey's are here to stay. Non-stretching panel pieces may be replaced with the old material if requested. I am curious about who is paying for the ripped jerseys though. I feel it should be rbk but does anyone know? -
hahaha the prediction thread turned into the GDT. good luck tonight Wings. I'll be in class.

Philly's planning on doing that for thier upcoming game on Versus. It needs to be organized for Hockey day in Canada and maybe the NBC games too. BTW "Fire Millen" signs are the new John 3:16

...because there Franzen is on IR. So when Franzen returns (in approx. a week) do they A: Put Drake on IR for his cheekbone. B. Send Downey down C. Send Ellis down D. Send Kopecky down E. Move Grigorenko sarcasm on Wait I get it! It won't be Grigorenko taking a roster spot. It's Franzen that will be the problem. /sarcasm off

Found this interesting... NHL.com Didn't know that it was Nill that pulled the trigger on the deal.

Why the team that dominates? Should the team that dominates get credited and continue on or the team that wins? Because it's easier to dominate games and win during the regular season then why not just award the Stanley Cup in lieu of the President's Trophy? To answer your question ,no the better team, by either of our definitions, doesn't win every game. That's part of the reason for the best of ___ series. The theory goes that it's easier to beat a team once than to beat them multiple times in a short span of time. Also that by playing those multiple games it will alleviate, once again in theory, from fluke teams winning. Say for instance the NHL was a one and done league. This past seasons Cup finals would have been Buffalo vs. the Winner of the Sharks/Ducks game. Otherwise things would have remained unchanged. For the '06 playoffs Detroit, Calgary, and Nashville would have made it into the second round while the east wouldn't see a change until Conference finals were Buffalo would have moved on instead of cup winner Carolina. For the '04 playoffs Boston, Ottawa, and Vancouver would have moved on.

ummm... huh? All the "venom" being spewed because a player that has so far shown to have the ability to play at either Port Huron or Frasier is getting called up to Detroit because of his contract. He came over ill-prepared after 6 years. Well lets say 3 since that is how long his return to the RSL has been. Dats and Z came prepared to play. Grigorenko... not so much. ill-prepared not lazy. I've only seen 1 or 2 "All russians are..." and dozens rising up to defend the precieved slight because of piss-poor preparation. Nice find. Doesn't sound very promising though.

it just needs a font change.

Sorry it took so long to respond... As far as the playoffs go... simple answer is yes won the playoff series. As for the circular reasoning though, not so much. Why did the North Stars beat the Hawks, Blues, and Oilers? They were better. Why were the North Stars better than the Hawks, Blues, and Oilers? You can always point to reasons why a team won the series. Special teams, hot goalie, clutch, etc. Who's the better team? The one that dominates the series and loses or the that holds on a wins.

Cup winner* and Cup finalist. I'm not exactly sure what your asking for though. Are you implying that because they had losing reg season records they aren't worthy of making it as far as they did? If so, does that also mean that you don't feel the seventh or eighth seeds should be allowed into the finals now? (I'm asking not attacking) *Was best of 5 then. oh and... Compromise would cause one page happy tree loving, bunny hugging, kumbaya singing, hippy induced, steaming pile of nothing. Now what type of fun is that?

side story: JR scored for the sharks. that's 3 for him this year.

And there it is! I was curious how long it would take for a Norton reference and have been pleasantly surprised by how long it's taken. Honestly, Downey brings more to the table than Norton and I'm assuming Downey will be used throughout the season in a similar role as he is now. Question to those who might remember... did Norton get any atta boy's from teammates or the article blurbs in the paper?
