Actually the league has said that they would be cracking down on headhunting this season. It's kinda like how they went overboard with interference calls a couple years ago. As for saying do this and you will get this... that only handcuffs the league later. It wouldn't surprise me if the suspension is halved when it's appealed, but what I'm really curious to see is what comes from the next incident in the league. 20 games for a check... to the same guy that had his head down when Pronger laid him out in the SCFs.

Pass, but that's only because I don't like him and some of his untimely turnovers.

I can understand why the league wants to control teams licensing of merchandise. They don't get a cut of the profits unless it's also licensed by the NHL. I want to say that alot of the wings merchandise that can be bought at the concession stands, Little Ceasers, and the malls isn't NHL licensed. I want to say that the Meijer "jerseys" aren't either. That's a good chunk of change that doesn't leave town. As for the website debacle... I think it's helped (Detroit) more teams than it hurts (NYR). With all that said, until the NHL learns what marketing is I have to side with NYR and the other owners that will be joining them.

I thought the players testing was pretty much only the all star game and all the testing was done by RBK?

Don't worry in 5-10 years he'll be back to finish his career. :rotflmao: I wonder if they'll play a mowerd call when he scores?

Yup and from what I've seen you can see it visually too. Ottawa's players looked like flags in a storm when the were skating.
-
Yup and one of the "ideas" floating around the league is to have Columbus and Atlanta swap conferences.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Grigorenko put in as the 14th forward if he fails to earn a higher spot outright. That way he can get his conditioning up to where it should have been to begin with and not head back to russia. In addition, he could be sent down to GR for the occasional game to "check-up" on if his conditioning is improving for the main stage. With that said, I am disappointed with how ill-prepared or overconfident (not sure which) he was coming into camp. Out of curiosity, what do you feel the goal production of the fourth line should be?

Worst troughs though are the ones on recessed into the floor at your feet. Gets worse too the drunker people get. (shudders) Ah the memories...

True, but the Buffalo are is also 1/3 the population on the Detroit area. (Including Windsor) ... but the emptiness of the Joe has been beaten to death recently. I just wish it was louder there compared to a decade ago. but back to the thread topic... Hockeytown is about the only successful marketing to come out of the Wings org. since they were giving away cars.

I like Downey to play for the Wings that way I can get a jersey with my last name on it and not feel like a smuck. Also Downey or similar might make Maltby an agitator again since somebody will be there to bail him out of trouble... wait... that would mean Maltby stays longer... nevermind

For shame Hank :nonono: but I fixed it for ya. Oh and I found this through wiki: Reorg

Good point on the first, let me better explain what I was thinking since divisional playoffs really wasn't the right word... For arguments sake the following make the playoffs Central: Det, Nash, StL NW: Van, Cal Pac: Ana, SJ, Dal My vision is that, for the first round the matchups would be the following Det v StL (Best v Worst in division) Van v Cal (Best v Worst in division) Ana v Dal (Best v Worst in division) Nash v SJ (middle teams) for the second round on it would return to the ranked playoff format that we have today. Because teams will know that they will be playing a playoff series against a division foe, rivalries would start to form again (well as much as they can in this era) Second rethought for the extra 3 games: Team rank based on previous seasons finish. Team- Plays 1- 5, 10, 15 2- 4, 9, 14 3- 3, 8, 13 4- 2, 7, 12 5- 1, 6, 11 6- 15, 5, 10 7- 14, 4, 9 8- 13, 3, 8 9- 12, 2, 7 10- 11, 1, 6 11- 10, 15, 5 12- 9, 14, 4 13- 8, 13, 3 14- 7, 12, 2 15- 6, 11, 1

5 divisional games and a return to divisional playoff system. play 1 division in your conference an extra time (rotating seasonally) 3 other games based on previous years conference standings. (#1 plays the bottom 3, Cellar team plays the top 3, etc.) you'd play every team home and away every year. rivalries might actually mean something again.

Cujo might have to go to Europe or break out some voodoo dolls at this point. Too bad too, I'd like to have seen him make one more run at the cup. wow 20 years for Burke... I thought he was younger for some reason. Best of luck in his new career.

Agreed, but has possibilities on nights Chelios is resting... or now in the preseason for that matter

off the canadien's website... that and Osgod's comments pretty much cover it

of the four... KC and Vegas have the most hype so far. As for the two teams going east... Nashville and Columbus/Dallas.

Ok so I have a pair of questions. First should I dump Graham and pick up J. Hansen for my Kicker? Second currently Indy, Minn, and Cin are available should I pick one of them up instead of Dallas for Defense? Indy and Minn have a very similar schedule outside their division. Here is my roster with one change pending. Hopefully I will be dropping Williams for Cutler. Offense J. Losman (Buf-QB) S. Jackson (StL-RB) M. Harrison (Ind-WR) T. Holt (StL-WR) C. Cooley (Was-TE) L. Coles (NYJ-WR) V. Jackson (SD-WR) J. Norwood (Atl-RB) J. Jones (Dal-RB) T. Jones (NYJ-RB) J. Galloway (TB-WR) C. Williams (TB-RB) Kickers S. Graham (Cin-PK) Defense Dallas (Dal-DST) Thoughts?

I am kinda shocked about his conditioning a bit. It's not like he's still a young prospect, he was drafted 6 years ago. He couldn't have gotten a clue from his agent, NHL friends, the Red Wings, or by reading?!? Yeah the games different but conditioning doesn't change. Now with that said, and sadly to be a 180 from my first point... with the injuries he's had it's not surprising that he's not in better shape.

Yes, 7 mins through two NHL.com boxscore and rosters
-
And original six match-ups! LA: 0-5 with two man adv. 1-3 fights thru 2 periods Pronger got called for diving
-
woohoo go Air Force 3 and 0 without the option. (Sorry SWF)

Buffalo's jersey belongs to the NFL, they should be made to give it back.
-
Wow... putting them all together like that makes me realize just how much the new jerseys suck and god awful they look. I think Euroing out the jerseys and make them billboards would have been just as bad as this car wreck of design. what the hell is up with St. Louis and San Jose? Still have to wait for some "official" releases to find out who else has numbers on the front
