So because I don't like having Yankee RedSox baseball shoved down my thoat I don't understand people, world and money? And get yelled at for stating my opinion? Wow... just wow.... definitely put in my place with that one. So tell me this... why is it that ESPN and ESPN 2 can never make it out of the teenager with ADD view of sports while ESPNnews and radio can? Oh wait that's right... they have to keep up with the local stations and Regional FoxSports.

Why I dislike ESPN... Because they turn every game of Yankee's-Red Sox's into the Superbowl of baseball... like 30 times a year. Because they don't really do anything to avoid the perceived bias towards New York and LA. (But hey what else is there right?) Because it's about the stars more than the scores and teams now. Because their anchors and sportscasters talent have declined. Because I don't like having who my sports teams should be dictated to me.

Hank, good point but I will put this out there for folks to think about... Twenty years ago, gambling was Vegas and Atlantic City. Now though, can you name an US city that has or wants and NHL franchise that doesn't have gambling within a two hour drive, let alone within it's city limits? Hell, the Devils have just as big of a chance to mob ties as a Vegas club. On another note, a team in Vegas shouldn't have a problem getting sponsors.

Good move for him IMO. The NYR are going to be sniffing for a playoff spot when the trade deadline comes around so he's married to them wether they make it or not. Now by going to Columbus it will be very clear what their chances are before the trade deadline of going to the playoffs. He spends some time there, they continue to be Columbus and he's a rent-a-player to a contender. Plus add the fact that playing in Columbus should make him look good as well.

The org has said that they will offer him a 1 year contract till he calls it quits, which with his workout routine it'll either be after four more playoff games or two more seasons. The '08-09 defense might look like this: Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Quincey Meech-Kindl Lebda With Ericsson finishing in GR. Realistically I don't know enough about Quincey, Meech, Kindl, and Ericsson so swap names as necessary. As for Lebda not being in a pairing. I don't think that he will still be with Detroit by that point.

Many who liked early 90s NHL hockey are moving over to watch the ECHL games. Perfer it to the AHL myself but that's just me.

But the question didn't ask if it was a realistic situation. All it asked is would they rather have an enforcer or a skilled player who can play the power play and participate in the shootout. Not will be a regular on the PP or the go to guy in the shootout. There is a big difference between can and will. Possbly and does. In general: I'm curious if most of this discussion is really that some people didn't like the results and choose to read into the questions and pick them apart. Oh, and that nobody's questioned who the players are that participated yet.

The needing to go deep into the postseason to break even was common in detnews Wings articles from ~2001 to the lockout. As for the rest... good luck getting true revenue numbers out of any NHL team, or most sports teams for that matter.
