Like the concept, dislike the details so far. Except for the fact that the NHL team skips the big tourney. Until they drop some games from the schedule jumping the pond for a CHL game would suck more than West coast swings. Some things I don't like about it are: 1) Rules unless they play using both NHL and international rules (think world series on steroids style) it's going to hamper teams that have to adapt. 2) NHL schedule wise September is really the only time to do it, but that's after free agency and while teams are still getting into a rhythm. 3) Season ending injury 4) It'll increase casual interest in the US about as much as the World Cup does in between tournaments IMO. Good for Europe to get a Champions League, gimmicked up though by including the NHL

I konw. Another thing to like about hockey... in most other sports the players and refs run away. In hockey they aim for them

No there really wasn't a single signing that did them in, but they did lose Handzus(for Calder) and Huggy Bear Brashear(FA) as prob their bigger deals. Before the puck dropped they brought in 9 new players and the chemistry wasn't there. I'm not sure about the Esche/Hitchcock thing, but Niittymaki was given the starting role at the time.

I have a feeling that Lebda, Quincey, Lilja, and Meech will all rotate in and out... almost like last year. Good thing for all of them.

Ok... so based on the assumption that the cap will increase again to say $54mil. (around $4mil more than this year as a wag) We have $25.79 mil tied up before anybody is signed. Chelios $850K (probably under but overestimating. He is on a one year contract till he dies according to the Wings org. ) Zetterberg $7 mil (Based of of this years signings. Yes that could be the home town discount. and for 8ish years) Lidstrom $6 mil (Hard to argue going much lower for the Norris Candidate) Trade Deadline $2 mil (Conservative buffer) That would leave $12.06 mil for 4 Forwards, 1 Defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. with no suits. As for the Wings other FAs. I would prob go after the following because they should still be on the cheap. Even if I do hate Osgood. Cleary Filppula Lilja Hasek Osgood Should Hasek retire after the season Lalime might be worth picking up to backup since I doubt Howard is going to move up to the NHL in Detroit.

Interesting... so either the Pens are going there for a visit and there is no Detroit/Buffalo in the mix or maybe two different outdoor games that day. I like option C. Toronto, Buffalo, and Detroit each hosting that day. If priced right I could see the game at the big house crushing the current football attendance record.

It's good that many of the younger players are attending this camp too.
