Z: I want to spend my career in Detroit

I'm thinking it's going to be more $$ than that with cap trends...

Kulfan's list of remaining forward options

Please let Kuflan be wrong about his entire list... Selanne and Shannon are the only health noncancerous folks on it. Tread water to mid-season or trade deadline... Yashin= Lang x2 + Cancer
  3. First was Russia. Now the NHL is on a Swedish kick. Next country is... Germany or maybe the US

    NHL Attendance 2006-2007

Ah... I lost a bet on how long it would take for this statement to come up. Time to pay out my $1. Funny thing about that... Jersey thinks moving to thier new stadium is going to help them with attendance. Too bad the Lions had further to travel from the Silverdome to Ford Field. Now it's only going to cost me $10 in tolls instead of $13. :nonono:

    Wing's worst offseason in years

Blasphemy! Don't you know that every single wing must score at least 10 goals a season or be called a bum and shipped off! just poking fun at the "we have no goal scorers" crowd

    A good update from Holland

Maybe he's just forgotten that our rotation doesn't include a knuckleballer?

    We need a forward

It would be interesting to see the their issues forced with Penner by some team. (like below cap Nashville) If they don't get their Neidermayer and Selanne situations straight he might be had for just under 3 mil (1st and 3rd Rounders). Downside though is that the Ducks get a week to respond.

    The sky isn't falling guys...

Sooo... are you assuming that it's going to get better over hte next couple years? If the cap continues to rise so will the outrage imo

Any News on the Instigator Rule

No I stabbed a bit... but it was just a little deserving towards them on my part. To answer your question though... attendance was around 4-5K on average with records being set just over 7,000 during the playoffs. Loyal local fanbase and military kids (ok airmen but I swear most should still be wearing diapers) in attendance for the most part. With all the transients that come from the casinos and the air force training base it could be the model franchise for planning a Vegas team. Especially since before the storm Biloxi was only second to Vegas for money spent gambling. (and will again soon. Plans have it looking like Vegas South)

Oilers sign RFA Vanek to 7-yr, $50M Offer Sheet

I don't know... it's intriguing how this may all play out over the next couple seasons. It could be a nice tool to set a lower than true cap ceiling, or it could be a way to get a up and comer on the cheap. For instance Penner is sitting there and since Neidermayer hasn't put his paperwork in yet. A low offer could still pick him up. I expect that it'll be a few years still before most of the GMs have truly learned the game of the current cba. (Just in time for another strike YAY!) Found a good site explaining compensation don't know if it was posted yet or not. Nutshell RFA Offer Sheet* .......... Req. Compensation** _,660,000 or less ......... none _,660,000 - 1,000,000 ..... 3rd round pick 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 ..... 2nd round pick 2,000,000 - 3,000,000 ..... 1st and 3rd etc. 3,000,000 - 4,000,000 ..... 1st, 2nd and 3rd 4,000,000 - 5,000,000 ..... 1st x2, 2nd & 3rd 5,000,000 or more ......... 1st x4 * Amounts increase in lock-step with Average League salary ** Picks acquired from other teams cannot be used as compensation

    A good update from Holland

Maybe he's trying to though everyone a curveball?

    Stars sign Brad Winchester

Not directed just quoted... But do you really want the skilled ones to do the banging or some "pylon" doing the hitting/being hit all season long? It takes it's toll as we've seen many of times with teams not having enough left/ too hurt come playoffs. Or is it more of a tread water, pray nothing bad happens, and pick up a "playoff savior" / big guy / power forward come the deadline? I don't really have a problem with waiting on getting this mythical "top 6" guy we seem to be missing but if our bunch of home growns can't get'r done then I would rather see some protection for those who can then keep throwing "skill" out there hoping for lightning to strike again. Especially with the expectation that everyone has that we're going to coast to another division title.

Winchester and Kopecky duel at dawn? Okaaay... just thought I'd correct your misinformation, but what da ya know... the 13th forward didn't play the "entire" playoffs.

    Stars sign Brad Winchester

Not true he played in their first 5 playoff games and was approved to have his name on the cup. The Ducks went 24-9-4 last year when Parros dressed.

Any News on the Instigator Rule

hey hey hey... there is nothing wrong with Biloxi MS that another decade of repairs won't fix. (Sorry too soon?) Plus they're getting the SeaWolves back this season.

    Wings sign Carl Corazzini (Griffins)

Does the AHL have a Byng? oh and just noticed your location. Hell would be a step up from Roseville.

    poor buffalo

Between Chris Drury, Daniel Briere, Dainius Zubrus, and Thomas Vanek, the Sabres have had over $157 million thrown at their players in the last six days And Vanek is the only one they were able to keep. From TSN...

    Our Second Line

A one line team? HA We have four lines of small, gritty "scorers" and "playmakers". Double that on Defense and we're A'ok. Now if you excuse me I'm going over to youtube to watch some fight clips to make myself feel better

Any News on the Instigator Rule

The change never survived the BOG meeting so it'll be the same as last season. However in positive news more of the minor leagues are dropping it except for the last couple minutes of the game. Tides are a turning and they're returning to the old ways... just like the touch-up rule:)

Wings re-sign Hudler to 2-year deal

I don't know if he'll have much choice about playing him... unless we see some of the Griffins getting major time. Going with more ice time but under 30 goals.

48 hours in free agent hell

"(An aside: On Dan Cloutier's Wikipedia page, there's a note about his trade to the Kings that reads, "It was known as the most moronic move ever made in the history of the NHL." God, I love the Internet.)"

maybe he realized he needed a whole bird team instead of just the Wings?
