Serious Talks Of Expansion...And The Wings Moving East
vangvace replied to Sleight's topic in General
The Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL play behind the Orleans casino. They're a farm club for the Flames. Side note since I brought up the ECHL... The MS Seawolves are going to start playing again this season for the first time since Katrina. -
But then we could be the Dtroit Traffic Cones

It amazes me how you see the Unitied Way NFL commercial everywhere... hint hint. I don't think contraction is the answer... relocatation ok. I'm not even fully against there being 32 well placed teams. The Key being well placed. Say for instance: Nashville to RIM HQ (Since it appears that it'll happen) ATL to Vegas Florida to SLC (even though it might not work. Quirky people them folk) Tampa to the Dakotas (Could become the Nebraska of the NHL) Washington to Portland/Quebec/Winni New team in Kansas City New team to Portland/Quebec/Winni Balances things geographically a bit better. Closer rivals. Redraws the Conferences (again). Doesn't really take anything into account specifically. Wish the NHL games would fix thier goal scoring bugs, but they're fun. 2K7 has some good depth to it too.

Oh fighting is so bad, PIM are so bad, those teams don't go anywhere, you want your goon's go to the 70's and 80's, wah wah wah. Go give Don Cherry a kiss. Huh. The Anaheim Ducks LED THE NHL this season in FIGHTING MAJORS, BY FAR with 71 fights, about 20+ ahead of the 2nd place team. The Ducks also led the playoffs in fighting majors, and led the regular season in PIM for all teams!! Burke and Carlyle stressed this as being a key to their success. TOUGH, in your face hockey, Canadian style, taking NO s***, and forcing the issue. Congrats Ducks... see ya next season

ummm... Bertuzzi is about as much of an enforcer as Shanahan is. Yes he is gritty, tough, and will occasionally mix'em up but... not an enforcer. But other threads will follow on this I'm sure

'I don't know anything about Sweeds, they play soccer.' -Don Cherry :rotflmao:

Nope just to show what skate plus flesh equals. Considered looking for other more relevant examples but I was lazy. Then of course there is just the pure shock factor

Hey he has a fighting major under his belt too!! Well one, but he even got the instgator:whoa:
-
Very true. Llook at 47.11 and 47.21 because those both apply without the inclusion of "aggressor". Nobody has a problem with the aggressor portion of it to my knowledge but many have a problem with instigator side of it. Aggressor keeps the stars from being mugged. Instigator, as it stands now, leaves the protection of said stars to the refs and the NHL...

SystematicErrosion of the game Slam sports STPeteTimes Foxsports The instigator rule was put in place for a few reasons, curb fighting, prevent stars from being dragged into fights, line brawls and (In my opinion) bring in cooperate sponsors. While I do see the point of 47.12 (last 5 mins.) and kinda agree with it, the instigator rule as a whole stinks. It used to be just an extra minor, but now you get the 2-5-10 plus work your way towards a quick suspension even if you get your ass handed to you because you started it. As it stands now 3 fights = 2 games gone and add another game every time after that. Many of the players want it gone and many superstars have spoken out against it. The GMs have put the request in to get that changed to 5 games but... Finally, and most important, your confusing the aggressor part with the instigator part of the 47 series. The aggressor part nobody has a problem with to my knowledge. The instigator is a different story though. 47.11 Instigator - An instigator of an altercation shall be a player or goalkeeper who by his actions or demeanor demonstrates any/some of the following criteria: distance traveled gloves off first first punch thrown menacing attitude or posture verbal instigation or threats conduct in retaliation to a prior game (or season) incident obvious retribution for a previous incident in the game or season. all subjectively given out though of course

McGratton stays positive Here's to hoping(it's at the end) TOUGH GUY: The Ducks out-muscled and out-hit Ottawa in the first two games at Anaheim but the Sens still have one more option if they want to add some toughness to their lineup. Enforcer Brian McGrattan has yet to see the ice in the post-season. Coach Bryan Murray isn't ruling out the possibility of dressing him in this series. "There's a scenario where that could happen," Murray said. McGrattan, a six-foot-four 231-pound forward, had two assists and 100 penalty minutes in 45 regular season games. Could the man get some love? it'd be his first playoff game ever if they dress him.

Obstruction, Hooking, Slashing. Holding, Clutching, and Grabbing
vangvace replied to rick zombo's topic in General
Reviving because this article foxsports The issue will be sent to the NHL's competition committee and to its players for further discussion. And the league will study what other leagues, such as the junior Ontario Hockey League, have done to eliminate blows to the head. The general managers touched on other topics, but reached no resolutions on: # Expanding the size of nets to increase goal-scoring; # Reducing the length of minor penalties called in regular-season overtime from two minutes to one so not to extensively punish teams during the five-minute period; # Going to a four-on-four skater format during playoff overtimes, as teams do in the regular season, in an attempt to cut down on multiple-overtime games. -
foxsports Those of you who remember commissioner Gary Bettman's assurance that the salary cap he needed to impose would keep ticket prices down might wonder about this. Bettman could have prevented the year-long shutdown of the league by accepting a PA proposal that would have set payrolls at approximately $42 million. He refused, saying that such a figure was beyond the reach of owners. Two years later, we're at $50 million. And if you're wondering how the cap figure can go so high, it's because revenues increased. Where did these revenue increases come from? They're almost totally the result of ticket-price increases. Soon, Gary will once again tell us how he did it all for the fans. In fact, the fans have been given a league driven by parity, a league devoid of powerhouse teams. And they're having to pay more for the privilege. For this, the league was shut down for a year and interest was all but destroyed in the United States.
