I was SUPER angry about the (by my count) 4X 'too many mens' until my SabreFriend told me that there were at least two 'too many mens' by DET that weren't called during that game-- one in which the puck was in play by us. (Disclaimer: she HATES the Wings, looks for every lil thing they do wrong. It can be enlightening for me to take off my homer glasses and listen to her, but she's a PITA when it comes to the Wings. And their diving. And the refs, she's kompletely Konspiratsia re reffing... BUF fans have that right I guess (see NO GOAL). [edited to correct spelling from "feffing" to "reffing"-- maybe I shoulda left it alone, "feffing" cracks me up. But then I'm all too easily amused] -
A topic right up my PR alley, and I don't know I've time just now to give it the consideration it deserves, here goes my quick tuppence: Hockey needs a marketable superstar. He doesn't have necessarily to be The Second Coming of The Great One, just to be PR-friendly. EVERYONE was a Bulls fan when Jordan, Pippen, and even *gasp* Rodman were hanging out in ChiTown. It wasn't ONLY MJ's amazing skills, it was the never-ending pool of stories to be told about that team. Journalists require two things: something to write about, and something to write about that won't bore their readers senseless. Scandal is great in these days when respectable news outlets have to battle yellow journalism for readership-age. I may be stretching here (but I don't THINK so), but I'll compare our sport to figure skating: it took a HUGE-- cannot stress enough just how huge-- ratings leap after the Tonya Harding hit on Nancy Kerrigan. Heinous as that event was, it was the best thing that happened to figure skating as a marketable sport. Almost overnight, even prof skating developed numbers on telly ratings, it was an amazing period for FS. Not so much anymore, just try to find USFSA anything on ESPN or ESPN2. Horrible as it sounds, it took the Harding scandal to draw attention to the sport. Now, I'm not suggesting seriously here that, in the best interests of our sport, that someone should kneecap Pronger. I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't pay anyone to do that. And if I did, I certainly wouldn't leave a paper trail. Or witnessess. Of course, I haven't thought about this at all!.

It felt a very exciting SCF game to me. I thought our Lads showed grit and heart and hard hitting Tim Hortonish heart (too many commercials) (I swear to hockey pods I will never say "grit" or 'heart' or 'hard-hitting" or "Tim Hortons" again. Till next season).... anyway, that's what the game gave me. tonight. -

Sens are bigger than our Wings, it just doesn't work for me. Heck, they're bigger than the DUCKS! I'm re-thinking all my UFA picks/preferables. I now want William "The Refrigerator" Perry on wing... -

Grapes looking almost tasteful tonite-- guess it's because he wantss to look good for Jackman (he adores this guy, he mentioned him nearly every int. last series). To his credit, he admits his fondness for blowing him... (sooooo bad, I normally NEVER talk like this, I am a good person who never curses or uses vulgarities IRL). -

Nice PK-- not one shot on Rayzor! Sens looking strong, Duckfeathers are ruffling. Can another pen be far behind? -
It's all too deep and yet oddly, over this poster's pretty lil haid, but evidently, yes. Per Bettman tonight: "The cap is just a GUIDELINE, obviously, some teams won't be able to spend to the cap *cough*revenuesharing*cough*, but it's a lot better than the days of one team spending $20 mil and another spending $80." Maclean: But Buffalo Sabres (Bettman interrupts--"Then MAYBE THEY SHOULD RAISE THEIR TICKET PRICES." OTT SCORES!! Whoo hoo (sorry for going OT).
-
What? Did you not see him totally call Bettman out? LURRVED IT.
-
Per Gary Bettman on HNIC SCF pre-game when pressed HARD by Ron on this subject: "doubletalk, yadayada, why don't we talk about these two wonderful teams about to play? more doubletalk, some bs, "We're still working things out with the new system" some MORE bs, yadayada, "The players are all fine with it" blah ad infinitum..." I hate that man (how original of me!! /sarcasm off). He's the hockey equivalent of Donald Trump-- all blow, no hard.

Governor Terminator's gonna be there tonight. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup...arzenegger.html "Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty thinks the Ottawa Senators are going to beat the Anaheim Ducks in the Stanley Cup final, and he's willing to make a wager about it with the California governor that includes a month's supply of Tim Hortons coffee. McGuinty and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger have placed a friendly wager on the series, which starts Monday in Anaheim (CBC, 8 p.m. ET), and both politicians are putting up some homemade goodies If Anaheim wins, McGuinty has promised to give Schwarzenegger a 30-day supply of Tim Hortons coffee, a selection of Ontario wines and a Roots sweater. An Ottawa win in the series will cost Schwarzenegger a custom-made jacket made by a California designer and a selection of California produce and wines." (more on link) I think McGuinty will be getting the better of the deal (no offense intended, Tim). GO SENS! Do it for Little Elgin, do it for national pride, do it because you haven't ever done it. GO ALFY, GO SPEZZ, GO DANY, GO RAZOR! USE THE SCHWARTZ!*** ***Yiddish reference purely intentional. The Secretary of P.C. disavows any knowledge of my actions.

You're welcome, and I'll get right on that list of Sheppard hits... it might crash Google, though.
