One problem, though... whenever I start poor-mouthing a player, be it one of ours or theirs, that player never fails to get hot. The hockey gods like disdain even less than hubris, at least where I'm concerned, and they love to make me look dumb(erer). Soooo, in the interest of hedging my bets: Lang still sucks. And is lazy. Kris Draper sucks. And is past it. Our PP sucks. Anyone/thing else I forgot, sucks.

There are plenty of Winged Folk giving Jiggy credit, and even those who aren't 100% sold on him know that his pads are legal. Please don't tell people to "get over the reffing," because it is a legitimate cause for concern, and not just in this series. It was equally inconsistent (to put it politely) in the Sens-Sabs series. The credibility of the game is at stake. Ehh, on second thought, you're right-- get over the reffing, because discussing its sad state won't change a damn thing. Bettman seems to be determined to eliminate hockey from the pantheon of professional sports and he's really good at it thus far.

Without Lilja's goal, it would have been a 1-0 loss anyway at 47.3 left in regulation and we would have been equally as heartbroken (and started a Franzen Deserves Props thread instead). *shrug* Just about my favorite thing in the playoffs is watching unsung or underrated or underperforming players step up their game, get the big goals, grab a little glory for once. Lilja's been doing just that, and I hope that he doesn't let one setback affect him, and that he remembers that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. What great character he showed by facing the media after the game: wow, just wow. Contrast that willingness to take the blame to that of certain Ducks players in recent memory, and you can instantly grasp which team is truly the greater: it's not always all about the final score.
