Game 1 Thursday in Detroit!! Whoo hoo, and I work morning that day! YAY!
-
*yawn* Well, congrats, Dallazzzzzzzzz...................... See ya, ist it Tuesday? (hope I hope I hope)
-
OIC, thanks for clarifying.
-
Hmmm, VS just said it was the TENTH longest game, after saying earlier it was the EIGHTH. Commentators getting tired too?
-
I must be tired, this actually makes sense to me.
-
Just got home from work (EST here) and I'm stunned this game is still on! WHEEEEEE!!!!!
-
Well put! I got a chill up my spine reading that. Damn we're deep this year. Last year's line-split really bothered me-- it smacked to me of, if not exactly desperation, at the very least experimentation, and I don't think the playoffs are the best time for that. And it didn't work, anyway. I'm SOO glad we don't have to worry about that this year, thanks to SuperMule.

"Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said Game 1 of the conference finals could begin in Detroit "as early as Tuesday and as late as Friday." FULL FREEP ARTICLE [edited to put in this "newsflash" I found in the commments on the article.] "From an unnamed source: "Stars Anger Sharks, Accused of Looking Past Them... Preparing For Wings Series With a move even hockey analyst Don Cherry called "unwise", the Dallas Stars flew in Swedish Language Professor Dr. Sven Hardtgarrd of the University of Stockholm to begin language and cultural training for the club in preparation for the long-awaited Stars/Wings playoff series. That move was very short-lived as we caught up with Dr. Hardtgarrd at the DFW airport heading back to Sweden only 3 hours after he arrived. "They insulted me and all Swedish Nationals", he said. "All they wanted to know were Swedish swear words and how to tell crude sexual jokes about mothers, wives, girlfriends and sisters. Only a few players had any real interest." What did they want to know? "They wanted to know how to ask 'Can you teach me that backhand shot'... in Swedish."
-
Damn... Campbell should be a Wing.
-
WOW, score.

Laperriere thinks the rest will be helpful for the Wings. "Shocker of shockers, Laperriere thinks the Wings could be hoisting the Cup. "They're all great," he said. "All four lines make plays and all six D's move the puck well. They'll be well rested. Sometimes that can work against you, but for a team like that, I think it's going to go for them. They have a lot of hockey left, but they're going to be very dangerous." . . . " Full Denver Post Article [edited to add this quote from the article that made me grin: "Franzen, in case you didn't know, was drafted by the Wings out of the Krypton Junior League in 2004. . . ."] Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO-- IT'S SUPERMULE!

For those of you atttending the game, did Mule get many hats on his trick? I was spinning around the room, screaming HE DID IIIIIIITTTTT!!!! and missed any shots of 'em, if any, Versuck may have shown. AWESOME with the octopi, people: you make me proud(er) to be a Wingnut.

Boy, do our guys know how to meet and surpass expectations or what?! DEADLY GAME, Wings-- you "swept" me off my feet! Thanks for giving me bragging rights over my Pens-fan ex, who's been smugly predicting a DET meltdown all through the PO's... after Game 2 he said the Avs would come back to win it, after Game 3 he said we'll get whupped by Dallas. He was SO wrong on the first and I have faith he'll be wrong on the latter!
-
Yeah, I hear they're a halfway decent team.
-
They didn't have as many injured players vs. the Wild... I'm not making excuses, but it MUST have made a difference, I thought the Wild got pretty hot towards the end of the regular season.
-
I'm.... speechless. No wait. Franzen just beat Gordie Howe's record!
-
Those aren't Avs fans, it's Quenneville's PR team creating spin.
-
Same here, but it hasn't cut out during the game for me-- only intermissions. I had it on during the Pens-Rags game (although actually watched that on on CBC telly), and it cut out occasionally during that game too).
-
Thank you Ozzie! I promise to remember those saves....
-
Have been lurking this forum throughout the year, but I had to come out for this one! GO WINGS GO! On a purely selfish note, I really, REALLY need them to win this one, especially since my ex has been infuriatingly superior about his Penguins (who lost tonight heh) and extremely condescending about my beloved Wings (he knows that's the ONLY way he can mess with my head anymore!). I'd love some bragging rights-- get 'er done guys!
-
Thank you so much for the help! For some reason, I've never been able to get sopcast to work for me, but the Versus Direct link is working beautifully. I thought I'd again have to listen to the radio and follow the postings on the GDT, which was extremely frustrating to me for Game 3. Much appreciation.

Dmac: "That's how we reciprocate, yeah?" There are no words for how much I love this guy...
-
Finally I get to watch the Wings play!!!! And go go go DMac! How cool was THAT?!

JLA music has been a pet peeve of mine for at least a couple of years now. Bowman-era music was great-- plenty of Metallica, AC/DC, Kid Rock, Cooper, Nugent-- but for some time now, The Chicken Dance seems the most exciting thing on the menu. I know, I know: it's petty and nit-picking, and I doubt our focused players even hear what's playing, but the crowd DOES hear, and sorry, but Gwen Stefani has absolutely NO PLACE IN HOCKEY. FWIW, my Sabre fiend/friend told me a couple of years back, hearing me whinge about the DRW music, "Oh, start watching Buffalo, our guy plays Metallica!" sut is saying that no longer: BUF music has gotten blandingly boring as well. Mandate from TPTB? Another Bettmunch memo?
