I was taught to hit like Abby did. You don't go for the head, but you're told to crouch for a low center of gravity and lunge upward into the shoulders of chest. Otherwise its just a hard bump. Only thing I saw wrong with it was Lydman had his head down cause he was trying to do some fancy eurodangling.

I'll say it's late, but it wasn't to the head intentionally. Clean hit to me if its a second sooner. There we go!!! Some of these would still happen thought. Tell me when he leaves his feet prior to impact. You can't! Why? Cause he doesn't! He leaves his feet when he extends his legs during the hit.

If we for sure want to lose tonight then sure bench him.

He was accountable. He was accontable for a solid legal hit. If this was '97 that would have been a momentum shifter for the Wings. Instead we live in pansy land.

His skates are on the ice when contact is made. Then he pushes upward like EVERY hockey player is taught to do! Unless the rules have changed on me then this postion is NOT illegal. Ab's shoulder clearly makes contact with Lydman's clavicle region which is inside shoulder thus meaning shoulder to shoulder. Even Fowler was quoted saying that Ab's ins't the type of guy that would do something like that [head shot]. If you think that hit was illegal you must have hated the NHL 5 seasons back. Plus look at the Ref stand right there and make NO CALL! Besides Lydman that Ref has the best view.

That's been the leagues plan for awhile and it's finally gotten to the point where it's clearly noticeable. Anyone remember Stevens Hit on Kariya? I loved that kind of hockey. In today's league Kayria would have never comeback to score that slapper and Stevens wouldn't have been on the ice to see it. Gone is the NHL I loved.

Where are you people gettting this launching himself BS? At the point of impact Ab's skates are on the ice! You're completely allowed to bend and explode on hits. It's having your skates off the ice before impact that is illegal. Unless they changed the rules and I didn't know about it. I was ALWAYS taught to get low and explode upward. Low center of gravity wins. About the head contact. It clear in the frame by frame that Ab's shoulder is in contact with the clavicle of Lydman. The head was the second part of his body hit. Therefore hit was shoulder to inside shoulder at impact. It's a clean hit in the sport I loved watching and started playing. This league I hardly want to watch. If it wasn't for the Wings I wouldn't watch the NHL.

It's too bad you can't square up anymore in this league. The second one guy lets go of the other guys jersey the bettman striped buttholes swarm in. This league is really starting to suck. I know its been in the works for awhile, but it's getting to that point where I'm not excited to watch playoff hockey anymore. Ballet is a huge exagreration mang, try Soccer. They should change the name of the league to ENHL. (European No Hitting League) Gone are the days of Scott Stevens.

I miss the old days when these hits were common. This is the Eurofication of the league. Their goals is to make it more like soccer. I'm on the verge of dropping the NHL.

How could you get charging out of that? AB's was gliding for 10ft prior to impact. There was no penalty. AHL players are not depth!

Quit suggesting moves to the Roster. Bab's is paid to know who and what is best for this team. He knows more about the players and more about our stratagies than some couch coaches. Nyquist is talented, but he's not outstanding at this level. On the Griffens he was a force.
