I'd feel . . . I can't say that I'm sure he's ready for an asst position but I'd love to see him have a chance to work with the players in some capacity and if they respond well, why not?

I was thinking the same thing, there weren't nearly as many people talking about the Hawks as I thought there would be. The biggest stories of the day were Big Ten expansion and the Cubs/Sox series starting (Go Cubs!)

Pretty much how I feel on the subject. Id worry about the "team player" aspect about him, not sure what his effect on team chemistry would be. Buff doesn't strike me as a "I'll do anything you ask for me to help the team" type of guy.

I'm expecting alot of that today. Saw lots of dads bringing their young kids (very cool) and lots of drunken idiot suburbanites in Kane jerseys ( )

Tomorrow is going to be awful and I'm not sure who came up with the parade route but I'm sure they did it just to piss me off. There's no reason it couldn't go down Columbus or S. Michigan where it would affect literally no one's commute into the Loop. Instead they're going from Wacker down Washington and N. Michigan essentially stopping any movement in the Loop for most of the morning, if not day. I know it has nothing to do with hockey or the team but thats my little parade rant. But yes, as I've said before, I don't mind new fans at all, its good for the game. I do mind new fans that act like obnoxious deserving asses, thats not good for the game. I don't think true Hawks fans, and I know some really good ones who stuck with their team, should have to put up with these idiots ruining their name.

I have alot of respect for Toews and how he plays but him getting it was a bit underwhelming. He's not the most undeserving, but I think its on the list. I'd have given to Keith or Niemi, personally. They saved the team more often than not.

The issue for me, at least, isn't that Chicago has bangwagon fans, all teams do certainly. But these Hawks bangwagons are just jackasses, they act like they were there from the beginning and they weren't. There has to be a certian amount of humility when you just start following a team. You can't scream Detroit Sux when you know nothing about the rivalary. I can't tell you how many times I've heard from admittedly new fans that they hate the Flyers. Why? Because you're playing them? Its not like there is any history there so whats the beef besides that you're an idiot? Be a bangwagon fan and when the parade happens Friday, I hope they celebrate their ass off but be honest about it and admit you weren't there for the team a couple years ago. Thats all.

For what its worth and it might not be alot, but I've lived in this town for 14+ years and while I love the Trib over the S-T, the quality of the paper isn't what it used to be and especially in their sports section. Its run by 20-something glorified bloggers and over the hill veterans (which is probably how this slipped in). Plus a couple of those guys switched papers and/or left town all together a couple years ago. Long story short, this isn't your dad's Tribune. Anyway, just because people have said worse stuff about Pronger, or any player, on a message board doesn't mean that they can't disagree with the garbage when printed in a different medium. Leave the photoshops to the fans on the internet, leave the journalism to the "journalists" sitting in the Tribune Building.

Everyday and twice on Friday.

The Trib shouldn't have run it, period. While it might be funny, it belongs in the blogosphere and message boards, not in one of the largest newspapers in the country. Most Hawks fans I've talked to feel the same way, which was a big surprising to be honest.

So . . . because Pronger spit on the indian head, we supposed to feel sympathy for the same fanbase that screams "Detroit Sucks" during the start of every home game? Color me unimpressed by your rationalizing. Pronger might be a jackass but he wasn't the only one in the building that night (ahem, Kane and Buff).

While I wish the discount was greater, I'm not sure how this is a bad thing, even at 6.2 mil. The points have already been made but its not like he got a raise or even kept his old salary. No character? Greedy? I don't see it.

Here is an idea, Chris - instead of stealing pucks, steal a game or two away from the Hawks. Might be more beneficial for you in the end.
