What's worrying me most is that the last 3 bad calls in a row seems to have shaken the team up a bit. They know they are getting raped by the officials and it seemed to deflate them late on. Their concentration just wasn't there for the whole time after the bulls*** call on hudler, which led to the ducks goal. Having said that if huds had any sense after pinging his head on the post he should have taken his helmet off like Hiller and he wouldn't have got called. THe league needs to get UV paint on Pronger's stick so they can get one of his multiple cross checks...i mean f*** me that's 3 games where the refs have completely favoured the ducks with incredibly poor calls in this series...

Seems like the refs are doing their utmost to negate any concept of home advantage by calling everything for the away team...it continues to become more and more astounding..wow...

Been to a football match in the uk have you? Most of the hooligans over here died out in the 80's, even the chelsea headhunters who were indeed a scary bunch of racist inbred f***wits. I've seen 1 fight at a football game in the 20-odd years I''ve been going, and that didn't involve a punch. Want to see real scary fans..go to italy or poland or turkey where stabbing foreigners seems acceptable. BTW I admire the inclusiveness and friendliness of US (and Austrailian) mainstream sports massively, and it furthers my hope for the human condition...however this doesn't stop the fact that your initial post made you sound like a jingoistic, pro-gun imperialist fruitcake...thankfully all ours died out in the first half of last century when you lot became the world super-power (though if you read the foreign policy documents etc this process was sped up by systematically weakening the british economy and favouring all its rivals, which was entirely unnecessary and contributed massively to the current situation of ineffectual, self-loathing, morally superior, multiculturally conservative schizophrenic melting point that is modern Britain - although we are doing our best to keep up by importing your shameless materialism, culture of urban violence and celebrity obsessed, morrally bankrupt dumbed down sensationalism!). (and I did enjoy your turn of phrase in that last sentence) As i said in the part of my post THAT AGREED WITH YOU it wasn't a brawl. But rafl did take a number of blows to the head and back without even attempting to fight.....I don't think we are really disagreeing, just that my choice of words was perhaps overly british and perhaps not explicit enough in its meaning. The only real point of argument is that I feel slightly more strongly about the Ducks having a free pass to utilise physical intimidation after the buzzer as a regular and integral tactic, particularly as it only ever seems to apply to our small skilled guys. Its a slightly primeval manner of behaviour which is unnecessary in a sport that already gives leeway for physical confrontation. Niedemayer was sneaky dirty, getzlaf was a little overly pumped up, but Perry was as per usual, just a cowardly bully. Its mad to see this team where Pronger is comparatively looking like a saint...who'da thought it?!

And I think the Ducks are a pretty good team, who have players who raise their game in the playoffs, good defence, great goaltending, a strong 1st line a and a legi goalscorer on the second...after that it weakens off a bit, but i respect their ability. If they weren't so heavily populated with players that i dislike, i would be fine with them...I actually quite like most teams in the league (though have never cared for the Devils of Stars due to their playing style), an obviously the Avs are in their own category...... But regardless of all this, cheating is cheating....a certain amount can be let go in the playoffs, but the league's disciniplinary system is star-centric and totally inconsistant. The only consolation is that the ducks remind me of the smart-mouthed kid at school who would give you s*** every time the teachers weren't looking, who when you saw them again at 30 were fat, balding, dull and with a clutch of illegitemate kids surviving on state handouts...

That's resonably fair on the whole, except for the fact that Niedermayer (whoI don't have abig problem with on the whole), cracked him on the skull after the buzzer, and perry beat the s*** of out a totally disinterested rafalski. It wasn't a brawl..if it was i think people wouldn't be as pissed off..it was more chippy bullying after the whistle by the ducks, which is not exactly a new phenomenon. It is actually against the rules, as well as being morally dubious...

I hope to some higher power that this is not a sincere post....its exactly the kind of opinion that makes the usa often be regarded as a nation of psychotic, evangelistic, insular, ignorant red-necks, as opposed to a land of freedom, opportunity and tolerance as it should be. My god, this is just incredible!! And on a general point, yeah we could do with more toughness, but given the game situation the same guys would be on the ice and even having boogard in the line up would have made damn all difference. IF Lids had stepped in, so would have Pronger, which we don't want to see. I'm all for the the team building, one for all etc nature of fighting in hockey, but their skills guys are a s*** load bigger than ours are ever going to be with 13 years of last place draft picks. ITs not like the colorado thing where it was a relatively even match up. Sure Yzerman fought on a couple of occasions, but a 21 (or whatever) year old is going to jump in quicker than a 39 year old in the playoffs... Also worth remembering that the reason we hate the ducks is not because they are big and tough, but because they are dirty cowards. Sure you see Perry, Getzlaf, Pronger etc pull all kinds of s***, but only against smaller guys...stick a fighter on the ice (of any size) and not peep out them. Perry tried on Ericsson, got spanked and since then, everyone has left the kid alone. These dirty sods just won't fight, and have made a point of going after our skill guys after the buzzer throughout this series. If the league are too cowardly to enforce their own rules, with any consistancy, it leaves us in a difficult position, because downey would only get to fight against Parros or someone similar, which is a waste of time frankly. I'll be happiest if helm, abdelkader, stuart, etc keep up the recent history of flying into fair checks and grinding the scumbags down (though i wouldn't complain if a lids slapshot breaks a anaheim ankle...).. Oh and to the ducks fan comparing holmstrom's possibly accidental elbow in play while fightign for position with last night's blindside after the whistle needs to drop the crap...after the whistle the game ends..same rule in every sport...not tricky to understand....

Can't believe that once again I stay up till half six in the s***ting morning here in the uk to see my time get skull raped by the officials AGAIN. I have to say, the general standard of officiating in the NHL is so much worse than most other major sports top leagues. the odd dodgy hooking call etc we can accept, but continually getting such big things so wrong, which are so easy to avoid, astounds me. If i were that bad at my job, i'd be sacked.....

To be honest, when was the last tight playoff series we didn't have at least one perfectly good goal chalked off? And when have the officials ever applied the same laws to the ducks as everyone else? Answers on a postcard...... Everytime the play ends pronger goes after dats, and continually the officials do nothing. Its a joke, an absolute disgrace, just like every other time we've face that cheating, dirty, gap-toothed, smirking deformed s***-eating spunk bucket. Every year i hope he gets his deserts and he never does. Maybe we should club together to get brashear or similar to take a suspension for something worthwhile.... Bob Probert would have broken him....

The whole frigging lot of them...ok maybe not teemu, but i literally hate all their other players...only the stars revulse me nearly as much....they've always been either average, pretty boys or dirty cheating assholes....

Also, just as a novel thought...surely its the case that just becasue something happens now, this doesn't automatically mean it should continue indefinately? This isn't me standing agains trash talk, just encouraging people to compose rather more intelligent arguments. Although I never initiate it in any sport, i don't mind a little verbal sparring...I'm smarter than most people (modest too! and can hold my own. As I said earlier, this case is pretty tame, unless there is a personal background behind it that gives it meaning. A slap on the wrist to appease the squemish and ensure the boys do it off mike is all that's needed. Unlike skacore, i feel race is an issue that needs to be addressed with more gravity, particularly in a north american context.
