There is no parity in the officiating in this series. maybe 1 dubious call agains pittsburgh..how many against the wings...its just a joke....ok drapers was probably just about deserved, but drakes was just a joke....i'm increasingly disgusted.. -
Thought that the player had to be not trying toget out of the way for it to be a call. Jesus these bloody refs are killing me....do they not know what time it is in England...4 sodding 30 in the morning! If we throw this away i don't think i could take it....
-
interference on helm?
-
Very slack....just clear down the ice....we've got all the ttop face off men...stupid, stupid stupid.......foot off the gas and now they've got to do it all over again...
-
pens really riding their luck

Blades of steel..that was quality! That and nhl 93!

Great save from Fleury...if the refs called this properly this whole period would be adetroit powerplay.,..and yet Therien still *******...
-
Hreat save from Fleury..if the refs called this properly this whole period would be adetroit powerplay.,..

How much to the refs want this to go to games six, every questionable call or not going in favour of the pens....as we would say in the uk...who's the wanker in the black (and white)....
-
breif summary...wings start well get a couple chances on the pp...get another PP, O'Hallaran screws us out of that and we fall apart.....great goal from hossa after poor turnover by ralf, and mental own goal from kronwall (if we could shoot that well at the other end itd be 2-2!). We look tight, and have strayed from the fundamentals, spurning opportunities to shoot..1 really good save from fleury, the rest making him look good...
-
O' Hallaran is a scumbag and the pens are getting very very lucky

I think Offensively sid has the edge, and at his age, should only improve. For a superstar his work ethic seems good, and he's been the pens bst player by some way this series (though Hossa was pretty damn good last night).....I think you probably would take a trade of dats or hank for sid the kid, because by his late 20's he should be a whole lot better than his pretty damn good self, and a couple of years at the joe would have him playing a more 2 way game. part of his problem at the pens, is that very few of the senior players are really good enough at any disicipline to teach him much, and his jackass of a coach isn't helping his development either. he would already be a significantly better player given 2 years on the wings......ah well... Also this thread made me drool about the thought of ovechkin with dats and zett....wow!

True enough, but even with his dubious shooting, when you see sammy really fired up (game 1 for instance), he's such a better player. a little of rex's intensity would a make him contribute more. And no, I'm not saying 'he's lazy and he sucks'....just that 10% more of say cheli's competativeness would make a big impact on his contribution
-
Isn't it strange how for an offensive forward, he's playing much better in his 4th line role than he did his few games on the second line. When Sammy moved down huds did nothign and sammy played better....which is a minor problem for next year, as we will still be with a legitimate 2nd line right winger.....which is even more testament to the great team ethic of this squad that they are spreading the points around to cover this...such a shame that grigorenko never really recovered from his accident as he would hae been perfect in this role... I must say i love huds competative attitude....if sammy had a bit more of huds fire and huds hands he really would be a legit 2nd liner!

Much improved form teh pens and not so good from us. Ozzie would probably like 2 of the goals back given the saves he made earlier on, and after some early jitters Fleury was pretty good. Our passing was poor particualrly from stewie and lilja, and the pens forechecked a lot better too. Thought Roberts was their best player tonight, making an impact with most shifts without being overboard. The PP needs some work....more shots from the point to stop the pens collapsing back so deep. Nice to see homer finally get some penalties for being ocntinually crosscheked. The last period was breathtaking in its pace, and we were unlucky not to score more than once after conceding a bad goal.....oh well...more late nights in hte uk for me then.....
-
Crosby double slash on draper..no call...shock bloody horror
-
No s***..at least we can take comfort from the fact that we're bound to get some scoring eventually...pens have rode their luck in this one as much as we did in period 1 of game 1

Totally agree with bluemonk's thoughts...also i totally agree with the dallas fan's assessment (despite his team!)....after all I'm an NHL junkie and have been so since the mid 90s......I only got cable this year, so I've had to rely on occasional late night broadcasts....oddly, the only playoffs I've been able to watch almost all of have been 2002 and this year, which is a spot of luck. Anyway, the point is I'm in the uk with a very small hockey fan base and have come to apperciate this 'product', but that if it wasn't for a computer game I would never have discovered it. Games in London etc are a step forward, but its clear the NHL aren't doing enough in traditional non-hockey markets. Ok it will never rival football (or soccer- wahtever) for global popularity because of the equipment, infrastructure etc required, but if the ever ridiculous NFL can be a mcuh bigger global brand, there's hope yet. Hell even cricket has become multi-million pound sport in India....

Nice - the next game after I posted about lay off Sammy he's a 3rd line forward playing on the 2nd line which is not his fault, he promptly moves to the 3rd line and his game has been improving incrementally since. Draper and Drake is a good mix for him too.....speed and grit, which are not sammy's strongest points. However, playing like today he can be a 2nd liner.....

Very very impressive...despite getting stitched on the first goal, the whole 4 lines rolled very effectively. Sammy actually playing to his potential in his all round game (1/4 inch from a natural hat-trick!), cleary being more comfortable without the mask and scoring a good goal, Kronwall toasting Malone, and stupidly effective puck posession. Will be suprised if we can keep that level of play up, but if so it will be hard for the pens. With Franzen to come in for Mac soon (hopefully) we have a really well balanced line up. Sammy looks much more comfortable on the 3rd line it has to be said...Drapes and Drakes forecheking creates space for him and seems to be rubbing off. Stuart was really good tonight, as was helm. Most complete wings performance in a while, and against real quality opposition.
