sorry, but i was expecting a HUGE 1st period by Russia, not just 3 goals. thats all i was tryin to say. I wasnt trying to imply that Latvia was playing well or in this game by any means, i just had HUGE hopes for Russia and think they are capable of WAYYYYYYY more especially against Latvia By "hopes for Russia" i mean high expectations. i was expecting a blow out, and thus far Latvia hasnt been outplayed that badly. I know Russia is just getting used to playing with eachother so i wont look to far into it but damn its only 3-0 at the start of the 2nd. Expecting big scoring the rest of the way. Atleast an Ovie hat trick

i was expecting more goals by now for Russia. Kind of dissapointed. It seems like a "regular" game and not a Russian Allstar game i was expecting at this point. hopefully they are just heating up

i thought i heard a while back that when the rosters were announced Datsyuk was for some reason suppose to play on the checking line. How did he go from that to first line center? Im not complaining im just confused how low russia was on him when they rosters were selected compared to how high they are on him now.

Are those the for sure lines? Ive seen alot of talk about lines but havent seen anything official. Find it weird that Malone is on the second line when Ryan is stuck on the third, i would switch that up. Plus langenbrunner on the 4th seems odd to me too.

I have 2 theories. 1) they waived him early in the day hoping to make some kind of trade to clear the rest of the cap space needed and the trade somehow fell threw or they didnt get an offer that they were expecting to get 2) as i heard on NHL live this freeze is not a "roster" freeze but merely a trade freeze. Teams can still maneuver players within their orginization. So the guess is that May was moved to clear space and sometime today or tomorrow we will still see one of our other players go on the LTIR in time for Lilja to play tomorrows game. My guess is they want to see how well he plays tonight and then from there decide if they want to keep him on the IR for the olympic break or place another play, my guess is Eaves, on the LTIR and make that room for Lilja. If this is the case, my guess is that the injury on Eaves isnt very severe but bad enough to keep him out a few weeks. Either way, if we keep Lilja on the IR or put Eaves on it, we are still going to need to make a move at the trade deadline or when Eaves comes off the IR.

Unfortuantly, most teams are probably ganna wait till the trade deadline to trade away their players to get as many offers and jack the price up as much as they can

True, but man do i love trade deadline day, so i hope thats not the case this year! At the same time since there are so many teams in the hunt dont you think that alot of teams would be out there looking for players that could put them over the hump and also help them if/when they do get into playoffs?

I know on trade deadline days if negotiations have already started before the deadline, you could continue talking and make the deal official after the deadline. Is that true for this trade freeze as well? Or is 3 oclock the shut off time.

Meaning he will be cleared to play for Saturday? Or that he will be eligable after saturday?

Yeah im a little blown away by the lack of trades with so many teams announcing fire sales. Maybe they will use the olympic break to get the word out on their players and what htey are looking for. Which means we will end up with a HUGE trade deadline day. Just a sad day today as everyone around the league hyped today up as a "2nd trade deadline" and we havent heard really anything

Didnt i hear a while back that Jeff Carter slept with Hartnells wife a while back and a trade for one of the two was the only way to fix the problem? If Hartnell is on his way out, Philly sure made the right decision there.

Chicago is already in cap hell. Do you think they would try to clear some cap space in a trade? Or just keep loading up on contracts and hope it all goes away on its own in the off season?
