Hank Dats 'N Homer

I was initially annoyed at this play because i thought Ovie just came in full power and hit whoever he could, but after watching it a few times i see that Gill had posession, or atleast was attempting to play the puck, so to me this is a legit play. Coaches always tell you go hard to the net until the ref blows the whistle and thats exactly what Ovie did. However, i always hate when goalies are rundown like this, on purpose or on accident. On a side note, i love how the ref standing right behind the net never seems to blow his whistle but just stands there poinint at the puck in the net. Players are still jabbing and playing even though the puck was in the net lol also, i dont buy that Ovie is 230lbs, i think alot of players heights and weights get embelished quite a bit. As much as i love seeing a scorer play the rock em sock em style that Ovie can play, i can only think that his career will be cut short due to injuries if he doesnt stop being so careless.

As an AC Milan fan, a little peice of me dies everytime i have to relive this. As a sportsfan i cant help but watch the full thing everytime....

this good was projected to be the real deal from the get go. Im hoping hes ganna be a top 2 not just a top 4. With top two defensive pairs getting up there in age (lids and rafs) im hoping that Kindl and Smith will be the future of this blue line. Stuart and Kronner are great, but Kronner has been injury prone his whole career, so you cant really rely on him at this point. Stuart is great but you dont really know how deep his ties are to Detroit after his contract is up. I love him dont get me wrong, im just being realistic. I hope that Smith can live up to all the hype and Kindl can do the same. if they can i feel very confident about out D in the future.

If im not mistaken, i think he was at pace for 1 homerun for every 14 at bats. Thats pretty good for a decent power hitter. Yankees are just playing smart baseball. They didnt commit to a major league contract, but they know that if he heats up in the minors hes a mid season call up or a late season/post season call up for sure.

Ya know, i root for the red sox (and yes Damon) whenever the Tigers are out of contention. Boston has always had a softspot in my heart for all sports. i just love the history of the town (sox, bruins patriots). One time while visiting Boston just after they had won the world series and Damon went the yankees i saw a shirt in a store that i loved. It had a picture of damon with his long hair and facial hair and the shirt read "looks like Jesus, throws like marry, ACTS LIKE JUDAS" as you can tell, many Sox fans including me were very bitter about him leaving town for the biggest Rival team of Boston. I lost alot of respect for him when he went to the yanks, cut his hair and shaved his beard, as a hate sellouts. Now im a HUGE tigers fan, probably the biggest you will ever meet, but i find it so weird that after HATING this guy for so long and not wanting him to ever play in a tigers uniform, i hear that this guy is a fan of the Red wings and STEVE YZERMAN and i open my arms to him hahaha. does that make me shallow? or just a die hard wings fan as much as im a die hard tigers fan? lol. Im sure the whole story is BS and Boras (those of us that know just what kind of an agent he is) is just making things up to snag Detroit attention, but i cant help but wonder haha

ive seen alot of people say Lucic and afinogenov, how realistic are these? I know Afinogenov isnt making that much this year, but would his current team want to give him up? are they doing a fire sale after Kovie? or just wishful thikning by alot of wings fans? Also, i thought Lucic was loved in Bean town, and i didnt even think he was an option out there, but im in love with this kids style of play. Have been since he came into the league. Any truth to either of these?

I dont think any of these are ganna happen. The forst one about waiving Miller nad MAy doesnt make sense. May myabe, but Miller has been outstanding for us and i see him signing long term over being waived. he brings alot to the game and has been a high note on this team in my book. May, yeah he is expendable i would waive him, hasnt really contributed anything. the Lebda one is the most realistic but trading lebda will be a challenge. Hes not a great Dman, hes go some speed which might factor in to his value but i dont think anything more than a 4th or 5th rounder would come back in return, which at this point isnt that bad since the wings strive in late round picks. I dont see us trading Williams, and here is why. Babcock, like bowman, likes to have a forwards shot on the point during the PP. Babcock likes to have a right handed shot out there as he did with Williams in the past and then sammy and now williams again. not to mention the fact that Williams has been injured all season and hasnt really had a "tryout" period with the wings this season nor has any team really seen what he can/cant do so he really has no trade value at this point. as for the Kindl cleary package, i think Cleary has a NTC and Kindl is the hyped up replacement for Lidstrom (If he EVER retires, hopefully not!) i dont see the wings throwing away the future for a rental player. Just not really Hollands style. I think this is out of the relm of possibility, Lilja has value on this team, especially i nthe blocked shots category which the wings havent been the strongest in. I think its best to try and keep him. Other teams will see he comes with a steep price for a player that is injury prone now (since concussions are usualy a reoccuring injury), and i dont think many teams would take the chance on him for the price. Our best bet is to just keep him. Realistically i would waive lebda and may and see if we get any bites. Or try to make a trade to bring in a guy thats paid under a million that might be able to contribute (afinigonov), although very unlikely.

Hockeytown is a good place to eat, the food is decent and the prices arent to bad. I usually get the hockeytown burger and its always pretty good. My GF usually gets the quesadilla's or however you spell it and she likes those. decent size portions. The shuttles are very efficient they leave every 10-15 minutes and they are free. Some of hte drivers are a little crazy. One time i was on it, the driver jumped the curve and sideswiped a parking meter and ended up with a flat tire, but that didnt stop her from getting us back to hockeytown cafe haha. I usually tip the driver 2 bucks each way but its not required. As for catching a puck, if you are in the corner they have that tall netting over the boards so id say the chances are pretty unlikely. I would just recommend getting there early and watching the warmups. Drapes and a few of the other guys usually pass out some pucks during warmups, probably a better chance with that. Should be a good game. I got to go to a wings sharks game last year on my birthday (feb 25th) and as always, its a good game to see. Hoping for a victory for your bday!

The 25th is my birthday. I have 2 exams that day, but the last one is at 3, would be nice to blow off that stress and play some poker with the Wings after them....might have to drop some "present hints" to my loved ones haha

Dont know alot about him, seen some fights of his, and love the fact that hes a big body. I wouldnt mind seeing him with an Ericsson and see if they can level a few guys. But not to sure on how well he plays defense.

I know his role on the team and all, i just figured that with all the injuries that he might of been a good substitute, espeically being right handed. Has anyone really been playing the role that they were signing up for at the beginning of the season? Not really. Just figured eaves might serve the team well at the point on the PP.

Ive never thought about this. But this is a great idea. Hes a right handed shot, which we are lacking at the point, epsically on the PP and his shot is hard. I think he has one of the quickest and suprising wrist shots in the league and his slapper is pretty good too. I think he would have been a good Williams replacement at hte point while he was out, i wonder why we never saw him there?

Im a stickler too when it comes to my jersey's and like ive said i have never bought anything but the real thing, and the last thing i want to do is compromise the quality of my jersey, its just i buy way to many at full price haha. Just trying to get everyones opinion on these sites.

I buy alot of jerseys (not just wings) and unfortuantely with the economy the way it is its hard to spend 150-200 per jersey these days, but buying them is an addiction that must be fed haha. The hoppity stride might not be the fastest way to get from A to B but it sure does wonders to hold onto the puck while skating into the offensive zone while on the PK playing one man keep away from the entire opposing team. gotta give him that. Hes no thumper like homer haha

I've had my fair share of bad expereince at hockey games ranging from getting spilled on by people around me to sitting next to the inappropriate fans that feeling swearing at the top of their lungs with children a row ahead of them is acceptable. But last night had to be one of the worst experiences ive had at a wings game, and im not just talking about the fact that the wings blew a 4-2 lead with a 1:34 to go in the 3rd. I had a group of about 10 or so in the row infront of me. One of the guys in the group was very confused. He was from indsor, was wearing a New orleans Saints hat (at a hockey game) wasnt wearing any team jersey, and was rooting for the Coyotes (you decide out of which of those is worst). Anyways, this group of early to mid 20 year olds were the WORST people to sit behind at a hoceky game. All of the guys in the group were loud and swearing at one another giving eachother the finger (as some were rooting for the wings and the others were rooting for the coyotes). The girls really had no interest being at the game and were more worried about what the "after party" was going to be like, and of course girls dont know how to talk quietly, so we all got the 411 on that. To top it all off, the whole group was drunk (and when i say drunk i mean DRUNK) before the first period. One of the guys in the group (while standing up for no reason in the middle of the game) dropped his beer on the seat infront of him. Luckily noone was sitting infront of him, but 2 seats over were an elderly couple who got splashed with the beer. The guy didnt even apologize and just said "shouldnt of been sitting there" and then laughed with his friends. Throughout the entire game they couldnt sit still, it seemed as though someone was standing up infront of us the entire game. And they didnt have hockey courtesy and wait for a whistle to get up, infact whenever the puck was in motion they would decide to get up. It got to the point where EVERYONE in my row nad people behind us would yell everytime they got up. Then at the second intermission they all got up and went down for more beer (or so we thought) and when the third period started they all came back with 2 beers in each hand. As if that wasnt bad enough, when they sat down, we could all smell Weed on their cloths. S now not only were they drunk they were high as kites too. You can imagine how abnoxious they were at this point. Of course they continued to get up throughout the entire 3rd period. Finally we all had enough and told them to sit down or leave the game. They then got upset with us and the girls said "screw this if all these people are going to be pricks i dont want to be here". One girl got really upset and started yelling at us saying "ill stand up the whole game right infront of you guys, how bout that?" and just kept talking and talking. They decided to all leave with 1:45 seconds left in the game and all stood up. Those of you who watched the game know that the wings lost it in the last 1:35 of the game so we missed theose two goals, then they sat back down for overtime once they saw they were leaving to soon. (of course the 1 coyote fan i nthe group was loud and screaming at everyone around him since the Coyotes tied it up and then eventually won) It just made for a bad experience for the entire game. Luckily we had some cool people sitting next to us and behind us that we still had fun, but the people infront of us tried their hardest to stop us. I never understood going to a game (paying the prices that tickets are these days) and getting so drunk that 1)you are a pest to everyone around you 2) you arent going to remember the game the next day anyways 3) you dont really have any interest watching the game anyways. Not to mention there wasnt one sober sally in the bunch, so as to how they planned on getting back home to windsor safely is beyond me. Anyways, the point of this whole post has double meaning. 1) hopefully it raises awareness of common courtesy when in public, and 2) i wanted to see what other bad expereinces people have had. any takers?

Its ganna take some hard work, but hopefully getting the guys back over break will give them enough time to practice with one another and get the chemistry down, because if they can only lose 9 games over the next 30, they cant afford to get the chemistry down during games. I think teams like the Red Wings work bst under pressure like this, and they can do it.

Lidstrom has been a second half player his whole career. He's turning it on now. Shouldnt be much of a suprise, and as a wings fan you shouldnt expect anything less. Hopefully he ca get Datsyuk and Zetterberg going and when the injured players come back we can make a run down the stretch.
