Hank Dats 'N Homer

One person i cant stand is Burrows. Hes one of those guys thst you hate to play against but would probably love him if hes on your team. Has great work ethic, plays hard every shift can score and mix it up. But i hate his ego and attitude. Hes always the center of some kind of controversy too which makes you not like him that much more. Also, i may be in the extreme minority, but i keep going through phases where i cant stand Ovechkin. He is an excellent player and has awesome skill, but again his attitude and self proclaime rockstar attitude drives me nuts. Does things on and off the ice that drive me crazy and i cant help but hold it against him as a player. Plus, if anyone has seen the photo/video of him shirtless with his back against a mirror, you know he has a tramp stamp tattoo on his lower back. Not to mention hes not in shape for a hockey player. Concave chest, scrawny arms and a bit of a beer gut. Just screams slob to me. Makes me feel like if he would put more effort to his physique off the ice, and didnt party so much, he would be an even more unstoppable force on the ice.

This. Not all games are going to be stellar, but if we get the 2 points it means we out played the other team, even if for only 15 minutes in the game. Ill take this road win all day with Lids, Dats and Quincey out of the lineup...Cant play like this during playoffs, but I'm not going to be mad about a 5-2 road win in the regular season.

Looks like the jackets are pricing themselves out of a trade. Maybe they will lower the value one tomorrow rolls around and there arent any buyers in sight

Seems like its been a quiet deadline year so far. Maybe I'm mistaken but it seemed in years past there was a lot more action. This year it seems like just a lot of hype and talk and no one really pulling the trigger thus far. Minus the Carter trade, not a whole lot to talk about. I was kind of hoping i was going to wake up today and things were ganna start rolling. Guess we will have to wait and see for tomorrow. Seems like teams really want to move some players (Nash, Ott ect...) but over valuing what they should get in return has put things at a stand still. Do people think that tomorrow will roll around and GMs will start to take best offers available to make some moves? Or just hold onto their stars once the deadline clock ticks closer and closer.

Thats exactly what I was thinking when i saw Doan and Jerome! I don't think anyone should take this to seriously or say this adds to our "wings are to soft" campaign as i think this is probably a players poll of who's the nicest off the ice and shares no reflection to how the players play the game on the ice.

Not a spectacular game, took some penalties, but i like that he seems to like to shoot. Got a nice goal after calling for a pass. Getting more ice time than i expected too. All in all, id say he's done a decent job.

I don't see that ever happening, though it would be a blessing. Contrary to what we all want to believe though, i don't see many players giving up millions of dollars just to play for Detroit. I think thats a myth we as Wings fans want to believe, but for the most part, the only players that have seemed willing to play for less to be here are players that have been for years. What i DO see the league possibly doing is setting a new precedence for lucrative contracts Maybe being more strict with a committee voting fairly on whether the contract is to ridiculous, stricter than they have now of course. Though that could become a sticky situation when trying to debate a players worth. Some of them are ridiculous even for some of the elite players, Even the Wings have been guilty to an extent with the long contracts extending well passed the players effective playing days

How does this affect our cap space? Im not familiar with how trades midway through the season change the cap. I know he makes like 3 mill or so, does that all got towards our cap this year? How much space does that leave us if we were going to make a run at someone at the deadline still?

While I understand your logic of it all i still see this as a bad trade for 2 reasons. 1 )Quincey, in my mind, is in no way shape or form worth a 1st round pick. I mean we essentially gave away our 1st rounder for a 3rd pairing dman. 2) Just lost our biggest bidding tool. I understand your point about a 1st round pick not being ready to play for 4 years, and I'm not disputing that claim. Nor am i disputing the fact that we can trade away our first round pick and still be successful in the draft. My only problem is now we don't have perhaps our biggest negotiating tool (the first round pick) to put a package together for a big name player, that with our cap space, i though we were for sure going to get. Now, if we are to make a bigger splash at the deadline we will have to ship out more of our prospects to land someone. Which kind of negates your point about the "having to wait 4 years for the player to be ready for the NHL" argument. We will have to trade more players that have already been drafted and have matured a year or two already in the minors who are closer to being ready to play. I just don't like how Holland has made this deal, whether it be a favor to Yzerman or whatever his logic is, i just hate seeing this first round pick go down the drain for a guy like Quincey.

Am i missing something here? How are people not more upset by this trade? I mean i know that he has improved since he left here getting to play more minutes elsewhere, but i just don't see how he is worth a 1st round pick. I know that the draft is a craps shoot and you can bust big time in the first round, especially late in the first round like we are projected to be but still, how is this not a bigger concern to people? We have so few early picks usually anyways, and to just give up our first rounder to get quincey back kind of bugs me. He may help out on the blue line and give us another guy for our 2nd PP unit, but was he worth a first rounder? Also, does this deal make anyone else think that Holland couldn't make a deal for anyone else better? And he kind of jumped on it just to fill the void with the best he could? Should we not expect any other upgrades before the 27th? I mean he basically sent away our first round draft pick which i was hoping was going to be used in a package along with a player or two to land someone bigger at the deadline. Now all we have left as trade bait are our own roster players that most believe teams are interested in, and our few exceptional prospects that teams would find appealing but are players we shouldn't really part with. Im confused, upset and perplexed by this trade. Am i the only one??

I like the Abs has stepped up in the role he's apparently been assigned, but i also think that he has disappeared in every other aspect of the game. In years prior, he always played physical but didn't fight a whole lot. He had on offensive side and played well with the puck, but i feel that he's gone backwards in most categories and seems to try and be making up for it by filling the gritty role that we have such a huge void for. Does anyone else see that? Or am i just blinded by how well everyone else is playing that I'm just complaining to complain here?

Seems like the 27th should be a pretty busy day since its been so quiet leading up to this week...though as i type this im sure things will probably heat up with the days ticking away

He looks like he's comfortable out there again. Racking up points the last few games. Obvious to most that Z has more to offer than scoring, but its great to see him putting points on the board as well as keeping the other team off the scoresheet.

Still can't understand half the things he says. I does seem like he understands the language really well, can process and answer questions quickly like its second nature now, just wish he could speak it a little more clear lol. However, he can speak gibberish for all i care as long as he keeps playing like he does.

Sometimes i wonder if i watch the same games that others are watching. 1) I don't find cleary to be a horrible skater. He may not be the fastest but he skates hard. He goes into the corners and tries to come out with the puck. He gets back on defense and plays a pretty good defensive forward role. 2) I don't see how he is completely worthless? You just stated that the guy has 10 goals and 11 assists and followed it up by calling him worthless? He's ganna net you 15-20 goals and probably 25-30 assists playing mostly 3rd line minutes. Thats 40-50 points...Ill take that all day from a guy who is also defensively responsible and willing to play a gritty game in the corners.

He i heard this too. Also did anyone else notice how Pierre said FranSen instead of FranZen during the interview? Call it pulling hairs or what not, but your job is to commentate and be knowledgable. How can he claim to do either of those?

man when did the league become so soft? I don't want to see anyone get hurt, don't get me wrong, but this is hockey. Wasn't a hit to the head, wasn't a blatant cheap shot in my mind. Protecting himself. Was Salo going for a huge hit? maybe not. But was Marchand suppose to just take the hit? To me, thats a good hockey play, kept his head up and protected himself. Call me a Marchand sloppy all you want, but don't see much wrong with the hit. a few years ago this wouldn't even be on the radar or up for discussion.

Kessel? I thought i read this and it said kesler and i said Yup, hes pretty good on both sides of the puck...but Kessel...ehhhh

Has there been a leak as to what the lines are going to look like come friday? Like i said earlier i though with the injury to mursak there was ganna be a few openings on the roster and am just wondering as to who is ganna get them.

Does Nyquist make the team this year? I thought especially with Mursak hurt there was 2 roster spots open. With the play of brunnstrom and Nyquist i thought they would be getting the spots. But i just heard mick and ken mention how there isnt room for Nyquist and if it werent for veteran players and contract obligations that he would be on the team. Is their a finalized roster yet?

Agreed, though this is my first time actually noticing him. Can he contribute on a nightly basis?
